I'm in the Midlands and I'm just being nosey as to who else lives in the centre of good ole Blighty - I know there are a few others (suew, lill & ailsa) but anyone else?

September would be fine for me and my latched on bundle! (Who, incidentally rolled over twice today! Had to slip that in - soooo proud!) And hi to bayleaf a fellow leicester lass. Perhaps we could have a mini mumsnet meet up in leicester if this never gets off the ground! Sorry no ideas for venues dont really know birmingham.

Ok - so how about the 7th or the 21st? Anyone ok or object to either of them?
At risk of being really controversial on the one thing that seems to be 'fixed'- are we totally set on Birmingham? Having had a quick read down the thread there are a lot of people in the east midlands and we don't seem to have found a particualar venue in the centre of Birmingham- and what's the balance of people wanting to drive/take the train? I'd rather drive simply because it'll take me much longer to drive to the station and get a train than to just drive to Birmingham - Ames - perhaps we could travel together? Is there anyone who couldn't get there if we went for a 'easy for cars' option like one TGIF in Coventry - or a restaurant at Meridian on Junction 21 of M1 - or similar.....

ames · 05/06/2002 22:06

Hi bayleaf TGI Fridays in cov. sounds good -absolutly love it there . Still i dont mind where ever. Where abouts in leics are u bayleaf? Good idea to go together.

ChanelNo5 · 06/06/2002 08:22

Would people prefer to drive rather than catch the train then? Just asking because that rules the booze out!! TGI Fridays in Coventry would be ok for me and so far either date is ok too. Is this just for us or partners and kids too? What about getting the train to Coventry? (good shops there!!)

Being utterly selfish I won't be drinknig much because of the ttc situation so as said before would prefer to drive as almost certainly quicker - and possibly a lot easier depending on location. My dh certainly won't be coming regardless of what anyone else is doing as whilst I won't be enjoying getting pissed I DO want to enjoy a meal without a toddler who wants to get out of her highchair every 5 minutes...

bayleaf · 06/06/2002 08:42

PS Ames - Have gone off you somewhat having read on skinny baby thread that you only have 7lbs post baby fat on you - I used to have a skinny baby ( since a bit more filled out) but NOT because of any genes I gave her!!!

sylvev · 06/06/2002 20:44

Birmingham would be easier for me as I'm coming from Droitwich, near Worcester. But there is probably a train I can get to Coventry, anyone know if the station is fairly central? I won't be bringing dh,dd or ds, they can have a mum-free day! I prefer to catch the train because I live very close to the station, hate city-driving with a passion and love drinking!(also with a passion)!

Bayleaf, 7th or 21st would be fine by me.

ames · 06/06/2002 20:57

Aw bayleaf dont hate me :-( i still got all the stretch marks and the flabby tummy

bayleaf · 07/06/2002 20:47

oh ok then ames - I suppose you're probably not too horrid a person then if you're not toned and taut as well as slim.
Wherearounds are you? I'm in a village north of Leics. Dare I say which?????
And come on all you otehr midland mumsnetters - which date - 7th or 21st??? And please voice location preferences!

ames · 07/06/2002 21:21

i'm not horrid at all - well i dont think i am! i live near fosse park. No prefrence on the date for me. Still keen on coventry cos i know it better than birmingham.

sylvev · 07/06/2002 21:56

21st and Birmingham or venue in Coventry close to station.

Ailsa · 13/06/2002 00:29

21st September is great for me, anywhere will do, I'll be getting the train, no dd, ds or dh.

CAM · 13/06/2002 11:40

hello Ailsa, ChanelNo5 and SueW, not being cliquey or anything...I'm going to try to come north, although everywhere is north of me.

How lovely to "speak" again, I have been wondering how your daughter is?

Marina · 14/06/2002 09:58

Yes, me too (sorry to temp hi-jack thread), SueW. Any news on tracking down an appropriate specialist for dd?

Glad to hear you sounding so positive SueW, in cases I have know of children having ops the children are always fine and dandy and the mother does all the worrying,of course.Children break your heart don't they with their fantastic ability to accept things. They are far braver than us. Do you have any idea of when this will take place?

Sue W - I was thinking of you too, especially as I am in Nottinghamish (Heanor actually) at my sisters tonight. Hope your dd's op goes well and that it's not too stressful for the rest of the family too.

SueW
What a ghastly nightmare - I don't blame you for not waiting for the NHS op, 5 months is far too long to have to be this worried. As the op is necessary, the sooner the better for you all. My thoughts are with you all the way. Love Cam.

bells2 · 01/07/2002 13:41

So sorry to hear of the delay SueW - what an absolute nightmare for all of you.
