I'm in the Midlands and I'm just being nosey as to who else lives in the centre of good ole Blighty - I know there are a few others (suew, lill & ailsa) but anyone else?

Sylvev - Ignore my question on the other thread, gradually working my way down the list.

ChanelNo5 · 08/02/2002 17:10

Girls - I'm thinking of organising a meetup in the Midlands for later on in the year, don't know when or where, so if you've got any thoughts, I'd love to hear - ta!

Suew - I'd be happy to meet up anywhere, with or without kids, but would prefer somewhere near Warwick. Are your kids on Half Term next week?

suew - Must be just a Warwickshire thing to have an early half term. I think our Easter hols are 22nd March to 8th April, perhaps we could organise something for then if people are interested? I'll have a look into possible places to meetup at, of course being school hols most places will be busy, but that's life, eh!

Phew! Found the thread again. I knew I hadn't imagined it. Birmingham would be great for me, but I'm happy to meet up anywhere in the Midlands. Don't mind with or without children, but I do enjoy finishing conversations rather than starting several and finishing none due to interruptions of the "muuuum" kind!

I'm in Birmingham so if anyone plans to meet up in Brum that would be great. And for those of you who don't know (having been on a conference this weekend where some stupid woman who hadn't been for 15 years described it as "a hole" it's actually, as the Beatles might say, "getting better all the time"

candy · 09/02/2002 23:39

haven't got a clue why there's a wink there - sorry - I didn't know I could do that!

Ailsa · 10/02/2002 11:11

Brum's fine for me, or, anywhere else. When were you thinking? Without kids for me.

Sylvev - 7 miles away in Worcester!

ChanelNo5 · 10/02/2002 17:58

Haven't yet decided on a date, place or whether with/without kids as just wanted to get an idea who would be interested. Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received - I'm looking into a few things myself and will let you know!

P.S. If we do decide to do something with the kids, it would be helpful to know their ages so that we can find somewhere suitable for them (mine are 5 and under). Ta!

OP posts:
sylvev · 10/02/2002 20:09

Mine are 7 and 3.

Candy, I agree, having lived in Birmingham for 10 years, it is a great city. I visited again a few months ago and the changes are great.

Ailsa, I was in Worcester yesterday, eating (favourite past-time) at the Italian restaurant opposite McDonalds. (Can't remember what it's called, used to be "Little Venice".

sylvev · 10/02/2002 20:09

Oops! I also didn't know I could do that wink-thing!

Ailsa · 10/02/2002 21:36

sylvev - haven't been in there for about 6 or 7 yrs! Can't remember the name of it, that's really bugging me now. Everyone round here still calls it Little Venice.

Hilary · 10/02/2002 22:23

How ARE you all doing the little wink thing? I quite fancy a go myself but haven't the first clue how to do one.

SueDonim · 11/02/2002 01:07

To make a wink you type a semi colon followed by an end bracket. Can't actually show you how as it ends up as a

Wahey!

Sorry to have let this thread slip again. Went to stay at my parents with the kids for a couple of days and just got back today. Now I've got a hideous cold and they're are all under the weather, poor little mites (doesn't stop them fighting though!). They'll be painting a cross on our front door next! Anyway, promise I will revive this thread at a later date. As before, any ideas let me know - Thanks!

Just seeing if I've got the magic touch with the winky things! Please excuse me.

Hilary · 16/02/2002 10:54

Wow, how did i get a purple one?

Sorry, please get on with the discussion now.

sylvev · 21/02/2002 10:09

I vote for a meet-up in Birmingham (purely selfish reasons, I can get there by train & have a drink!) and no children! Having been uncharacteristically (is that a word?) forceful with my views, I must add, most midland venues would be ok for me. I don't know when people were thinking of meeting, but I can't make week commencing 8th April.

I'm up for a meet-up in Brum with no kids, what about a Sat lunchtime sometime?

OP posts:
sylvev · 21/02/2002 21:35

Saturday lunch sounds great. I don't have a preference for the venue, it's been a while since I ate out in Birmingham. As long as there is a fish/veggie option and lots of wine I'll be happy!
