I'm in the Midlands and I'm just being nosey as to who else lives in the centre of good ole Blighty - I know there are a few others (suew, lill & ailsa) but anyone else?

I am in Northamptonshire, not sure about the meet up, work full time so weekends with the kids are pretty precious (and also pretty hectic!!).
Hatton World - if it is the one near Warwick, I have been there a few times - kids loved in - must go again!!

ChanelNo5 · 15/05/2002 23:18

SueW - I'm up for a meet-up in Birmingham sometime, name yer date!

OP posts:
Ailsa · 16/05/2002 20:17

Count me in too, unless you're planning for July.

sylvev · 16/05/2002 21:25

Me too. I'm in Droitwich. Birmingham would be great. Prefer weekend, no children. What about a June/July date? (I can't do 6th July).

sylvev · 16/05/2002 21:26

Oops, sorry Ailsa. Just noticed you can't do July. June anyone?

bayleaf · 17/05/2002 21:22

Yes too- potentially(!) - except last week in June!

sylvev · 17/05/2002 22:17

ok everyone, here comes date suggestion number one! What about Saturday lunchtime on 22nd June in BIRMINGHAM?

sylvev · 17/05/2002 22:18

Sorry, didn't mean to shout the last word at you all!!

ames · 18/05/2002 17:02

This thread has just come to my attention. I'm in leicester so i could get to Birmingham and make the date - not sure if i could seperate myself from dd she's bf and only 4 months. If i could i'd love to come - if you'ld have me!!

sylvev · 18/05/2002 18:21

Hi ames, I'm sure your breastfeeding bundle would be very welcome. Babies are much easier to entertain than, as in my case, active 7 and 3 year olds. The 22nd remains ok for me. I can't manage 15th, as I'm running the race for life the next day and don't want to risk a hangover!

Ailsa · 18/05/2002 22:09

22nd fine by me, see you all there. As it's nearer to home, I'll have a few drinks too.

bayleaf · 19/05/2002 17:09

sorry - that's the first day of our hols so I'll have to cry off this one - maybe next time!
PS I'm in Leics too Ames

sylvev · 25/05/2002 13:12

Is it to be 22nd? Or any other suggestions for dates? It would be nice for as many as possible to come. Any thoughts?

Perhaps it is going to be difficult to arrange a date over the summer. What about a September date?

ChanelNo5 · 25/05/2002 14:54

Is Sat lunchtime on 8th June any good for anyone, or is it too soon? Also any ideas of where to go in Birmingham?

OP posts:
bayleaf · 25/05/2002 20:05

I can't do the 8th - but then I seem to be generally not able to do suggested dates - so please feel free to ignore me!

sylvev · 26/05/2002 22:13

I can't make 8th June (dh on call). I love the chinese quarter in Birmingham, but am happy to eat anywhere, as long as there is a veggie or fish option.

Rara · 27/05/2002 09:01

I heard recently that there's a chinese restaurant which does a fantastic buffet - very reasonable and friendly etc. It's near smallbrook queensway sort of round the corner from what was The Dome. I'll try to find out the details if anyone likes the sound of it...(sorry to be so vague - still in my nightie with a cricked neck today!)

CAM · 27/05/2002 17:57

are non- midlanders welcome?

sylvev · 27/05/2002 20:32

Absolutely! However, we're having problems finding a date to suit us all. Any ideas?

salalex · 30/05/2002 21:57

Not that I'm coming to your do, but just to stick my oar in. Are you thinking of the Cheung Ying , Rara? I used to live in B'ham and it is fab, just off Hurst Street. Not cheap though I dont think

Rara · 02/06/2002 21:37

I'm probably talking out of my behind, then - sorry! It's just a colleague went there recently and said the buffet was about a tenner. We'd have to check...

bayleaf · 03/06/2002 12:23

How about going for September - at least the bulk of the hols will be over by then - and at this rate we're certainly going to miss all June dates!
Also - what do others think - I'd appreciate a venue that's on the outskirts/ringroad/near the motor way as the only time I drove in central Birmingham I nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to find where I was going. I apprecaite that the food might not be as good if we're confined to such venues - but I'm coming for the company not the nosh!

sylvev · 04/06/2002 19:20

I agree, a September date would be better. Re: where to meet, don't mind really. I'll travel by train rather than drive, so Birmingham would be good. I agree, Bayleaf, Birmingham is a nightmare to drive to esp. on a Saturday.
Any suggestions for a date?
