I'm in the Midlands and I'm just being nosey as to who else lives in the centre of good ole Blighty - I know there are a few others (suew, lill & ailsa) but anyone else?

Ok then, who else is interested in a Sat lunchtime meet-up in Birmingham, and when would be a convenient time?

What about sometime in April then? I think both those dates are ok for me, but I'll check to make sure. If we are all travelling by train, we could meet at the station and then get a taxi to the restaurant. Ok, so far it looks as though it's SueW, SylveV and me, anyone else interested? Also, are any of you girls going to the London meet-up in May?

I'm interested but at the momemnt I'm still working full time, I'm planning on handing in my notice mid-March, and if all works out OK my last working day will be Friday 5 April. Oh what joy, but it's also sad as for nearly 10 years I so loved my job, (see the Scots still ruthlessly rampage the Brits (no direct bias here as my Dad is from Glasgow, just a dig at my 'new' employers)). However as a treat I'm taking my dd to Toronto to meet family and friends (they've not seen her since she was 3 months old!!) - finally at this big-girl age of nearly 3, I'm brave enough to cope on my own on a 7 hour flight, it seems to get easier and especially if there's no Mum vs dad play-offs. It will be funny to see her play in Coronation Park at Lake Ontario where I played as a toddler.......I can remember it very vividly so I'm sure it will be a tear jerker with her, my baby ...

Yep, I can actually make any Saturday lunchtime in April, now. Any time is ok, the trains run frequently (according to timetable, anyway!) to Birmingham.

Ailsa · 26/02/2002 20:55

Count me in if it's not too late (the computer's been on the blink). Any advance on a date yet? I think I can make most of April.

Sylvev - finally drove past, it's still called Little Venice. I thought it had changed names too, maybe it did, and changed back - who knows?

Oh no, I definitely can't do the 27th, but don't let me stop the rest of you organising it for then, you know I'll be there in spirit (preferably gin or vodka!). On seconds thoughts, I could send along a cardboard cut-out of myself, there's not alot of difference, except you might get a better conversation out of it.............!

What about later on i.e. in May. We could then avoid Easter breaks and bank holidays. I suggest 25th May? It would be nice for as many people to go as possible.

Ailsa, yes I drove past the other day. I wonder what it used to be called. What area of Worcester do you live? I come in once a week to an arts workshop at the museum with dd. I think Worcester is a lovely City, fave shops being, Pratleys, Smart & Exchange, Lakeland, Acanthus, the little kitchen shop opp. Laura Ashley, Antiques centre (window shopping) and we love eating at Saffrons. (I don't work for the tourist board, honest)!

ChanelNo5 · 27/02/2002 15:53

sylvev - that's the week after the London meet-up so might be difficult for those who want to do both. What about end of March sometime or is that too soon? BTW anyone from the Midlands planning on going to the London meet-up on May 18th?

OP posts:
Ailsa · 27/02/2002 20:25

Sylvev - Do you know the park (Gheluvelt) on the main road into Worcester, I live more or less next door.

ChanelNo5 - What about 23rd March, the week after that is the start of our school easter hols. I'm planning on going to the London meet-up.

I think 23rd March might be ok for me too, but will have to check childcare also, and will report back. It would be nice to meet-up with a few Mumsnetters before the big one in London!

sylvev · 27/02/2002 22:36

I can't make 23rd March, ds playing tennis and big sisters birthday!

sylvev · 27/02/2002 22:37

Ailsa, yes I know the park well. I have a friend who lives not too far away in Townsend road.

ChanelNo5 · 28/02/2002 07:48

30th March?

Sylvev - things are getting spooky, that's only 2 streets away!

sylvev · 28/02/2002 20:49

Ailsa - we probably know each other!

March 30th may be ok. DH is on call but may be able to work around that.

MotherofOne · 04/03/2002 15:52

Sorry to crash in on the Midlander thread - but can you help me out girls?
Have just come back from a wet weekend with dh's parents, who live nr Solihull. DS aged 2 had a severe case of 'cabin fever' being stuck in the house, and not knowing the area as parents we didn't have a clue what we could do with him locally. Any recommendations for weekend soft play facilities, good leisure/swimming facilities/ days out (for when it gets warmer)/ pubs with play areas etc etc? Thanks.
Or any idea of websites I could check for info (so many are London/SE based).

sylvev · 05/03/2002 15:59

Motherofone- there is Hatton World that we visit when visiting in-laws in Dorridge, outside Solihull. It has farm animals, soft play, outside play areas and shops, cafe etc. Can't recall exactly where it is, but certainly in that direction. There is also a childrens farm nearby (name evades me at present).

ChanelNo5 · 05/03/2002 17:21

I've been to Hatton World, it's quite a good day out for kids and quite nice craft shops (toy shop and fudge shop are good!)

OP posts:
MotherofOne · 05/03/2002 18:41

Thanks - Hatton world sounds just the sort of place.
Sylvev - my in-laws also live in Dorridge! (scarey - they probably know each other!)
