no-one still flushes them do they?

do they?

i used to when i was younger but can't do it now, feel too guilty. it's such a faff though. i wrap them up in toilet paper and put them in nappy bags to be thrown out. is this ok or just as bad as flushing? i know i should get a mooncup by rights but i won't. so what's best?

Me too, tortoise Blush. But have only just, after about 16 years of using disgusting pads, have returned to tampons. And didnt give a thought to the environment... I will now though.

emkana · 21/05/2006 23:08

I've only had about 15 periods over the last six years, so finding it quite hard to remember Smile

but I do wrap them in toilet paper, mostly because I have fears of blocking all the pipes with the things - the thought of having to call out a plumber and then... doesn't bear thinking about!

Blu · 21/05/2006 23:08

Surely nappy bags in landfill can;t be a good thing?

Is flushing a big eco no-no then? oooops Blush

tortoise · 21/05/2006 23:09

How would i get it out and wrap it without dc seeing? Easy just to pull it and sit quick!(sorry tmi!)
Maybe i should get a mooncup.Grin

myturn · 21/05/2006 23:11

Even the sound of mooncups makes me want to vomit Blush

mosschops30 · 21/05/2006 23:12

Flush them. Towels are wrapped up though and put in bin.

beetle73 · 21/05/2006 23:15

Loo paper and straight into the bin. (Mooncup thoughts in the back of my mind.)

bramblina · 21/05/2006 23:15

What the hell's a mooncup?
I guess none of you who flush have your very own septic tank, unlike lucky old me.

arfy · 21/05/2006 23:16

have NEVER flushed them - apart from the environmental thing, they block up your own drains which is annoying

am now trialling a mooncup though. mainly to save money!

SquarewaysHereWeCome · 21/05/2006 23:17

Flush n run here, but will be switching to a mooncup soon (if that's not TMI nothing is Wink)

I am curious about those that wrap them in toilet paper as the otherwise thought of them blocking the loo is too much... so you make them bigger and bulkier with loo paper in the hope they won't block the bog? REALLY???? Grin

Please enlighten my ignorance about flushing Moomin - I seriously don't know and it may make me pop out for a mooncup tomorrow.

bubble99 · 21/05/2006 23:17

Earrings?? Maybe a bit too Tracey Emin.....

emkana · 21/05/2006 23:18

Grin trefusis!

Nobody wraps them up and then flushes them, do they?
Wrap them then bin them!

Mooncup is best, obviously........

JanH · 21/05/2006 23:19

noooooooooooo - you wrap them in paper and then put them in the bin! (Don't you?)

I am past all that, glad manic laugh, tra-la Grin

serenity · 21/05/2006 23:19

I buy the little purple bags (Pop ins?), and bag them and bin them.

flutterbee · 21/05/2006 23:20

I flush Blush

I am however going to be investing in a mooncup, I think its worth giving it a go.

If I hate it then I shall rethink the whole flushing situation.

bramblina · 21/05/2006 23:20

PIL found a condom in theirs and all hell broke out. It was great. Septic tanks do have advantages then afterall. Entertainment.

SquarewaysHereWeCome · 21/05/2006 23:21
