no-one still flushes them do they?

do they?

i used to when i was younger but can't do it now, feel too guilty. it's such a faff though. i wrap them up in toilet paper and put them in nappy bags to be thrown out. is this ok or just as bad as flushing? i know i should get a mooncup by rights but i won't. so what's best?

good question re how many - something like 5 would keep you going I would think?

If you're feeling flush (as it were) then maybe 2 for each day your period lasts. But that would cost a lot for me.

could ask the suppliers

acnebride - i have pcos and therefore sometimes acne and when i joined mn I was about to get married - 2nd wedding anniv just coming up Smile. often thought about changing it as i don't actually have many spots now but the French version was really long so there you go

WigWamBam · 23/05/2006 10:28

Trefusis, I have six of the large Wemoon ones and could probably do with a couple more, although I manage OK with what I've got (it just means they get washed a lot!). My periods are very heavy though, so you might get away with less.

I got snorted at for this last time I said it but here goes

if you go to \link{http://www.clothmadmummy.wahmall.co.uk/traderplus\clothmadmummy} you can choose your own designs and she'll make you some pads specially

Jessajam · 23/05/2006 11:19

Cappucino - just ordered from here, thanks to you!
Have been meaning to do something about this for a while. Use cloth nappies, DH insists on using disposables when it's his turn and used the argument "well you don't use reuseable sanitary towels ...!!?" And now I can turn round and say "actually..." and then maybe he'll try a cloth nappy!!!

Cappucino · 23/05/2006 11:24

Jessajam you make me a happy woman

last time I mentioned this I got a whole load of women screeching at me for being a freakish madwoman unhealthily obsessed by the colour of my sanitary products

I just like things to be nice Smile

Sorry,I thought this thread title was an arts and crafts type thing where we suggest uses for themGrin Um..Christmas decorations?

SleepyJess · 23/05/2006 11:26

I eat them of course!! [eye roll emoticon] Waste not want not! Grin

ernest · 23/05/2006 12:23

sniff, no one seems at all interested in my home made ones, but honestly, they were really easy to make & cost, well for me nothing, I just re-used old stuff around the house, eg kids' old washable nappies & some fleece & they are great & much better than pads, as you don't have to worry about slipping or anything. Took about an hour to make half a dozen pairs. Not terribly artistic, but then no one sees them. Cost a fortune to buy

azroc · 23/05/2006 13:04

ernest, you sound like somebody after my own heart! When ds1 was potty-training I made some little pads and sewed them into his pants. After he was potty-capable I took the pads out and used them as sanitary towels. I love making my own eco-friendly/money-saving devices. A lot of people would probably think I'm a bit odd though, so don't tend to talk about it much (they're generally still smiling fixedly and politely about the veganism/baby-wearing/organic obsession...)Smile

Jessajam · 23/05/2006 14:29

No ernest I am interested - now I have ordered a "real" one I will have something to base my potential home made ones on!!!

Sleepyjess Grin have been SO tempted to say "roast them in garlic and rosemary" !!!
