My second thread. The first is awaiting deletion due to details that were in the thread.

Basically, my brother is in intensive care with multiple stab wounds, he is stable, but critical. So he could go either way.

At the moment it doesn't feel real to me, I feel like I'm in a soap or something! It's very surreal :(

Not much to update so far, he's still the same although he's now been paralysed again, the machine works better like that apparently.

Also, not sure if I mentioned before, he's on kidney dialysis too to give his kidneys a break because they got tired and packed up (according to them it's normal).

The docs sound on top of it all. Hope he continues to do well.

ripsishere · 12/01/2013 00:11

That is good news. I hope you are getting some rest along with the rest of your family.
Very best wishes.

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 12/01/2013 00:40

Not much change today, still stable but critical. Also found out that his lungs will be resting for at least 3 weeks even before they begin healing!

I've been busy copying and pasting comments for his scrap book, got 6 full sides of A4 so far and that isn't even half of his get well messages Shock

Sunnywithshowers · 12/01/2013 01:27

3 weeks! Wow.

:) That book will be something to show your DB when he wakes up.

Thinking of you and your family, I hope you're able to get some rest etc. xxx

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 12/01/2013 01:37

Oh and he is having 2 of his chest drains removed tomorrow :) he has 3 in so 2 out is good news!

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 12/01/2013 01:38

Cab't believe I forgot to mention that!

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 12/01/2013 04:28

Great to hear that things are moving in the right direction - the NHS is truly amazing, as is your brother's will to live :)

makeloveyourgoal · 12/01/2013 08:41

Continuing to think of your brother and family.

Are we allowed to know your brothers first name - makes it seem more personal to be able to call him by name rather than "your brother". I understand if due to the police etc you are not allowed to.

LegoAcupuncture · 12/01/2013 09:25

Wow, 3 weeks! Hope he stays well during that time.

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 12/01/2013 09:50

I don't see why not, his name is in the papers etc, his name is David.

Sunnywithshowers · 12/01/2013 10:29

Best wishes to you, your family and David today Cunny. That's great news about the chest drains.

blizy · 12/01/2013 11:33

Fantastic news about David! Your family and David are still in my thoughts, I have been asking my dd to look over him for you. X

JustasmallGless · 12/01/2013 15:14

Brilliant news about your bro. Not sure which hospital in Manc but I drove past MRI and give him a wave!

BitBewildered · 12/01/2013 19:15

Still thinking of you all. 2 drains out is great news, things are clearly improving even though it will take a while. And yes, gawd bless the NHS!

makeloveyourgoal · 13/01/2013 17:21

How is David today? I hope he is continuing to improve. Remember to look after yourself too. David is in the best place he can be. You need to look after yourself too.

MelodyBaker · 13/01/2013 20:05

How is David today? Hoping he is on the up and keep yourself well x

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 13/01/2013 21:02

Slight improvement today, he's had 2 of his drains removed and his oxygen levels are all good. He's still stable and they need him to poo :o

ripsishere · 13/01/2013 21:16

Poo? I was going to say it's the least of his worries, but clearly it isn't'.
David, your will to survive is incredible and amazing. Keep up the good work.

Horsemad · 13/01/2013 21:18

Great to hear the news Cunny, keep posting, lots of people are thinking of him.

xxDebstarxx · 13/01/2013 21:20

Wow what a difference a few days make....we were praying for his survival and now the hope is for him to poo! Come on David, you can do it!

So pleased for you and your family that David keeps improving.

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 13/01/2013 21:24

I know! Isn't it amazing? Apparently the consultant has 'had a prod' so it shouldn't be long. Lovely. . . .

ripsishere · 13/01/2013 23:58

Had a prod Smile. A friend of ours is a recto/colon consultant. He is known as the shite doctor in our house.

TheCunnyFuntIsAGrittersWife · 14/01/2013 17:19

:o at shite doctor!

My mum has just sent me an update,
Update. David in ward instead of sideroom as he doesn't need isolating now. Still heavily sedated but 'light'...he was flickering his eyelids n moving his arm n i asked if he could hear me to squeeze my hand n he squeezed very lightly! He's one of the sickest patients in the UK....a level 4. All Ecmo patients are level 4 n when they come off Ecmo n go on to just ventilator they level 3. All the consultants just had meeting about him and he's making good progress.

eosmum · 14/01/2013 17:22

Great news, been thinking of you all. Hoping the improvements continue.
