Basically, my brother is in intensive care with multiple stab wounds, he is stable, but critical. So he could go either way.

At the moment it doesn't feel real to me, I feel like I'm in a soap or something! It's very surreal :(

Hi folks, sorry for the delayed update, I am unable to get on MN at the moment so have asked my good friend Scuttle to post this message for me.

David is doing really well, getting stronger every day. He still can't speak, eat or drink though, which is really frustrating for him, he's desperate for a Big Mac he has some orange squash that he can swill around his mouth to get some flavour but he can't swallow it.

He now has a mobile as well as my BILs iPad so we can text him and he can text back, which is great! He can also get on Facebook. His first post was just a 'Hi all, I'm back, thanks for the support' etc type message, and the next one is just SO typical of him, 'Well I don't know about you, but my belly feels like my throats been cut!' but it's great to see he still has his sense of humour he's allowed friends to visit now which means that pretty soon he'll have to have an appointments book to slot everyone in! Hopefully going to see him this weekend

Hi all I'm back now. Fantastic update on David :) he came off the ventilator on Monday and was allowed to drink on that day, on Tuesday he was removed from ICU and had a smaller tube put in his trachea hole so he could have an eating test, and on Thursday he had his trachea removed completely and ate a massive plate of mash, broccoli and gravy!

He's able to walk too, he's even walked outside! The progress he's made in such a short space of time is utterly astounding. He is such a strong abd determined person. I'm proud to call him my brother :)

Well he left hospital at half 12, his first stop was McDonalds :o

Well David's freedom was short lived, he's back in ICU now. Mum picked him up from hospital and treated him to McDonalds (the nurse said he could eat anything as long as he chewed really well) and he was fine but late last night he started throwing up a lot (he was at his wifes house) and DW rang my mum who told her to ring an ambulance. Turns out a bit of sick got in his lungs and he's now sedated, on the ventilator with a chest infection :(

He is so fed up, went to visit him this evening. He's back out of ICU now and onto the normal ward. He's got a swallow test tomorrow and they're going to xray him as he eats to see where exactly the food is going. The reason for his chest infection wasn't actually the bit of sick that went into his lungs. The actual reason is that even though he was able to eat food and pass it ok, little bits were going the wrong way and ended up in his lungs! The McD's just finished him off

I saw his back I thought his front was bad enough, he's got a 4-5" scar across his throat and a few scars on his chest (a couple from the knife but most are from drains etc), but omg his back! There's about 13 separate stab scars all over his back :( it looks an awful mess even though they've long since healed.

Ooh sorry, only just seen this! He's very fed up, he hasn't had an eating test yet! That's tomorrow and hopefully they'll x-ray him then too. He can't wait to get back out.

Think I'm going to ask for this to be moved, I don't want it to go poof and it's due to go soon I think.

He's out! Already! He had his eating test at 3.30 this afternoon and he's home already!
