Aillidh Christine Kinnaird died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia at around 11.30 on 8 July 2012. She was surrounded by family and friends and most of all, love.

There are no words I can say, - I am just another stranger who has been so moved by Aillidh's story and her courage. My heart goes out to Leigh and MrExpat and the children, may you find the strength to help you through these dark days, safe in the knowledge that your darling daughter could not have been more loved and cherished.

I am not a Christian, but this humanist poem has some beautiful thoughts,

O Beautiful End

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O beautiful end, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

Rabindranath Tagore

xx

How amazing that one little girl can unite so many people in the same thoughts and hopes for the future and then in heart broken grief when she has passed away.

These messages from you all who can say it so much better than me has brought me to tears.

Sympathy to all suffering this loss and past losses.

ReindeerBollocks · 08/07/2012 11:37

Little A, may you now walk safely with the Lord, free from pain.

Expat and family, you have all been remarkably strong and more importantly, you always strived to do the best for Ailidh. I have no idea of what will bring you comfort but you all did your very best for your daughter and it's plain for all to see how lucky she was to have such a great family.

Ailidh united thousands of people in prayers, good wishes and BM donations. She has an amazing legacy and she proved to be a forthright character, battling with nurses. She was also incredibly brave and gorgeous to boot. May you rest peacefully angel, you touched so many in this world.

ageappropriate · 08/07/2012 11:39

Expat and family, there are no words that will ease the pain you must be going through but you have shown to the world how remarkable and brave you all are by sharing your little girl's story and inspiring many to join the bone marrow donor list.

I wish you all the love in the world as your angel dances amongst the flowers in heaven but always in your heart. Hugs and strength for the coming weeks xx

Aerobreaking · 08/07/2012 11:40

Her love will last forever, and her life was lived not just fully, but wonderfully. I hope you can take at least a little comfort in knowing that she is safe with the Lord and that He will take perfect care of her until you are all reunited once again.

Nancy66 · 08/07/2012 11:40
