Aillidh Christine Kinnaird died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia at around 11.30 on 8 July 2012. She was surrounded by family and friends and most of all, love.

No parent could have fought harder than you did Expat. Your loving care was an inspiration. Our hearts are breaking for you but thank you for letting us try to support you in your fight. You and the family are in my prayers and I know Aillidh is safe with God. She always was and now she is home with Him.

I'm so very very sorry to read this sad news. I don't post much but have been on Mumsnet for years alongside Expat, and have been keeping up with Aillidh's fight. I'll light a candle for a brave little girl today - sleep peacefully Aillidh.

so so sorry for you all xxx

A, now you are out of pain and you will never be forgotten xxxx

If I should go before the rest of you
Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone
Nor when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice
But be the usual selves that I have known
Weep if you must
Parting is hell
But life goes on
So sing as well.

Wishing you the love and comfort you need for the coming time. Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter with us, and allowing us to feel and share in a part of the great love surrounding her: her life was cherished and bounded by love. May that love continue, and give strength to all of you. xx

I'm so, so sorry.

I'm not religious, but someone told me this once, and somehow it resonated.

Death is not the dying of the light, but the blowing out of the candle because the dawn has come.

TimrousBeastie · 08/07/2012 09:17

rest in peace wee one xx

pixiestix · 08/07/2012 09:17

Oh no. Sad

Rest in peace beautiful Aillidh.

Expat, I hope it is some comfort to you to know how many hundreds and hundreds of hearts your little girl touched. I'm so very very sorry for your loss.

ShowOfHands · 08/07/2012 09:18

I really hope I don't offend anybody with this post and I am happy for it to be reported and removed if it's considered insensitive. I've followed Aillidh's fight from the beginning. But last night I dreamt about her for the first time. She was swimming with sea turtles and her long, beautiful hair was streaming out behind her. She was swimming under the water so effortlessly.

I woke up this morning with that image of Aillidh, bright, vibrant, smiling.

When I first joined MN, Expat was big and bold and so forthright. I was always struck by how self assured and grounded she was. And I know she's on her knees right now with the vulnerability of grief, but I also know that only somebody like Leigh could have been gifted such a shining light as Aillidh. And the fight Leigh's shown throughout is testament to who she is and the grief rippling across FB, MN and across the world right now is testament to that beautiful, inspirational little warrior.

I can't express how sorry I am. It is too cruel.

mumat39 · 08/07/2012 09:18
