Enid's thread made me think. I ahevn't got one but fear if I did I would never go in it. Apparently some rich Americans have present wrapping rooms..

We have one - we even use it sometimes!

Enif · 22/02/2006 13:17

well we have a room between the kitchen and the sitting room that we are putting a dining table in. It also has no telly, a comfy sofa and a woodburner so doubles as a tiny haven away from the pc and the telly.

hunkermunker · 22/02/2006 13:18

We have a through room.

I hate it. Can't escape from DH and he talks to me while I'm MNetting

nailpolish · 22/02/2006 13:18

nope, i love eating in the kitchen though, makes me feel all motherly

but i have been wondering what enid did with the cupboards at the side of her oven

Kelly1978 · 22/02/2006 13:20

no, we have a l shaped lounge tho, with the back part as a dining area. It's generally a kid free zone, where I can have nice ornaments and sit down for a meal at the end of the day.

sandyballs · 22/02/2006 13:20

Yes, but our kitchen is quite small, so we can't eat in there. Dining table full of "creative" (I can think of a different word " things that my DD's are in the middle of.

krabbiepatty · 22/02/2006 13:20

In all honesty we do have a room off teh ktchen that was probably meant for a dining room. It is full of toys and we call it the playroom. Am going to convert it into a present wrapping room i think.

Yes

I MN from it, and that is about it.

Need to get curtains, but it is a huge bay window so not cheap to do.

WigWamBam · 22/02/2006 13:24

We have one. We eat in it (a novel idea, I know ).

We also have some of dd's bigger toys (train set, cranes etc) set up permanently in there so that they don't clutter up the lounge any more than it usually is.

krabbiepatty · 22/02/2006 13:26

it seems a terrible faff carrying food from kitchen to another room to eat it, haven't you dining room people thought how convenient would be to have a present rwapping room?

We've got one! We eat breakfast and lunch in it - and the computer's in it so I'm here all the time! We've also got a morning room (get us) which is where we eat tea - it's got a much scruffier table and bench in it that the boys can trash - they do all their art stuff in the morning room. The dining room has the so-called 'posh' table in..!

expatinscotland · 22/02/2006 13:26

no

Feistybird · 22/02/2006 13:26

Yes, used daily

WigWamBam · 22/02/2006 13:27

Krabbiepatty, our kitchen is about the size of a gnat's knacker, so we have to carry our food somewhere ... the dining room seems as good a choice as any ...

alliep30 · 22/02/2006 13:28

we've got one.. it's full of crap and has an ugly carpet

noddyholder · 22/02/2006 13:28

No big kitchen with table but no dining room

CountessDracula · 22/02/2006 13:28

We did have but smashed down wall to make big kitchen which is far nicer.

Had at last house and hardly ever used tbh

nailpolish · 22/02/2006 13:29

i would have a coronary at the thought of my dd's eating in a room with a carpet

give me wipeable any day

FairyMum · 22/02/2006 13:29

Yes. We eat in the dining room at the weekends and when we entertain. You can't exactly have dinner parties in the kitchen.

iota · 22/02/2006 13:29

yes and we eat all our meals in it (it is open plan to the living room though ie through an archway )

Blackduck · 22/02/2006 13:29

Yes, only use it when we have people round to dinner - otherwise it stores ds's buggy (first room as you come into the house)
But have a living room and don't use that much either (meals in the kitchen, sit in the backroom)

nailpolish · 22/02/2006 13:29

er yes you can fairymum

CountessDracula · 22/02/2006 13:30

Fairymum we had one for 14 in ours!

alliep30 · 22/02/2006 13:30

you owuldn't mind if it was my ugly carpet. kitchn leads onto lounge so can't know walls down. dining room too small to use as lounge

SPARKLER1 · 22/02/2006 13:30

Yes we have one. Decorating it at the moment. I'm covered in paint. Stopped for lunch break.
