Enid's thread made me think. I ahevn't got one but fear if I did I would never go in it. Apparently some rich Americans have present wrapping rooms..

We have a huge frontroom/diner which I HATE HATE HATE, we will eventually put in a false wall in the middle to make 2 rooms, we already have 2 doorways so it wojnt cost too much to do.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 22/02/2006 14:16

Another room person here.

podkin · 22/02/2006 14:18

Snug sounds like the 'den' that a lot of American homes have, although I guess theirs would be a lot tidier...

jac34 · 22/02/2006 14:19

We use ours all the time, it's right next to the kitchen. When people come round we always seem to sit in there around the table, with cups of tea/glass of wine, etc.
All meals are eaten at the table and the boys also use it for colouring/painting/craft/homework.I'd proberbly say it's the centre of our home.
We don't have a TV in there, but we have the hifi, which is nearly always on.
It's not a formal dinning room just a well used family space, and it's also the bigest room downstairs.

We have an area by the back door with the desk and computer and filing cabinet all squeezed into tiny space. And you have to climb over large sheet of wood to get in (shields it from dog). We call this our offive but strangely estate agents don't consider it an extra room!!

mcmudda · 22/02/2006 14:29

We've got a dining room - we eat in it when we're having dinner rathr than just tea

Planning to knock the wall through into the kitchen cos the kitchen is the black hole needing the lights on all day - grrrr.

mcmudda · 22/02/2006 14:30

We have a dining room because I am incapable of "cleaning as you go" when cooking and my kitchen looks like the scene of an earthquake when I'm done. Not nice for people coming to dinner. Our kitchen is big enough to eat in but not as big as I'd like. My friend has a huge kitchen with a range cooker and a big American fridge, with a lounge area with big French windows looking out over her garden AND a dining area leading out of the other side! Am very

Have a dining room, use it for Sunday lunch and entertaining, layout is fab cos there is a door from the hall and also a little one that leads right into the cooking area of the kitchen. It's got a baby grand in it so can it be our 'music room' too?

No library but we've got bookshelves and a comfy armchair on the first landing.
