Enid's thread made me think. I ahevn't got one but fear if I did I would never go in it. Apparently some rich Americans have present wrapping rooms..

I'd like a room of my own.....

LadySherlockofLGJ · 22/02/2006 13:40

Lol at MI

Blackduck · 22/02/2006 13:40

or even two

podkin · 22/02/2006 13:40

No dining room here, but would love an big open kitchen with enough space to cook and eat - much more sociable. Plus a boot room, a verandah, and and a proper utility room for the washing machine and dryer. I read an article recently which says how British homes are so poorly designed (harking back to Victorian era) compared to Australian/US homes. Why do we end up putting our wet clothes on radiators or dryers when we could have nice utility rooms to keep it all out of the way ?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 22/02/2006 13:40

Oooooooooh a verandah...........

krabbiepatty · 22/02/2006 13:42

Verandah! Utility room! wrap around balconies! Sea views!

My friends have a covered verandah and it's lovely.

Agree with Blackduck - I'd love a room of my own too. Remember Before Children listening to 2 mothers chat about wanting to move to a tiny flat with just enough room for the basics, and thinking 'But I love all my stuff, and just want a huge house to put it in'. But now that I've got children and am being buried in mountains of coloured plastic, not to mention my own stuff, the 'room of one's own' with nothing in it idea seems very appealing.

I want a balcony with sea views

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 22/02/2006 13:44

I wish i had a dining room, or a kitchen big enough to have a table in, or for that matter a lounge with room for a table - we dont own a table at the moment coz the SHITTY army have put us in a rabbit hutch for a house, so we have to eat our dinner on our knees.... or just go to my dads as often as possible so we can sit at his table in his dining room!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 22/02/2006 13:44

Now this I could live with.

Northerner · 22/02/2006 13:45

I love my dining room, has a big table a tv and a rocking cjair. Use it every day.

Enif · 22/02/2006 13:46

we all eat in the kitchen

but I have always wanted a big dining table for some mad reason

now have one big enough for 8/10

bugger.

podkin · 22/02/2006 13:46

ooo, LSLGJ, great and it has a sea view...

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 22/02/2006 13:47

Tinker · 22/02/2006 13:48

krabbiepatty · 22/02/2006 13:48

We knocked two rooms through so we've got a dining room thats open to the kitchen. We liked the idea of whoevers cooking not being isolated - someone can sit in the dining room and chat to the cook!

We've also got a sofa in the dining room for some informal seating -often gets used by the kids before or after meals (which we always eat at the table).

Enif · 22/02/2006 13:52

i wanted a dining room as I got sick of people chattting to me while I cook

also all those messy pans, yuck

fine for everyday obv but nice to have the option of being seperated

think open plan living is overrated

ooh no disagree I can't bear living in lots of tiny rooms, I am not a hamster!

Only prob with huge dining table is that you get used to it, when we were looking at moving recently most of the houses were rejected as would not fit my table in kitchen or dining room tsk

Enif · 22/02/2006 13:56

yes I am just trying to talk up my house

(lots of tiny rooms, low ceilings, crap really)

Blackduck · 22/02/2006 13:58

Whats a snug? (thought only pubs had those...!)

Hate open plan too....but agree rooms need to be a reasonable size
