Will MN HQ be able to do anything?

Thread Here

Although its not a nice thought I can only deduce from no communication that I have been ripped off for my wedding bits that I sold in good faith at a much reduced price for a mumsnetter.

I also out of the goodness of my stupid heart sent her the necklace I wore on my day for her soemthing borrowed.

I cant "believe" this is intentional as she was so grateful in the beginning.

But countless and emails and threads on here have turned nothing up

Will MN be able to do anything?

Hope she hasn't lost the necklace.

freshstart · 15/02/2006 15:49

i cant bring myself to ring her again - what on earth do you say to someone who just fobs you off, makes promises then takes the piss?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 15/02/2006 15:50

Would you like someone else to ring?

pashmina · 15/02/2006 15:51

get someone else to phone her - make it sound official....has she been heard of on mn today?? somebody must know her. don't give up!

SorenLorensen · 15/02/2006 15:51

Every time I read something on here like "call her, fs" I think it says "call her ffs" and think - ooh that's a bit harsh.

I'm so sorry you haven't got your necklace back, fs (not ffs).

hunkermunker · 15/02/2006 16:00

Moo, same here!

MistressMary · 15/02/2006 16:28

"Dear Spring chicken, Please can you be honest with me now. Where is my necklace?
Your reputation is being very publicly ripped apart on a parenting forum.
This could have been avoided if you were honest enough to begin with - what a shame it has come to this. Can I have your response now?"

helsi · 15/02/2006 16:30

TBH eben if she has lost the neckalce - at least own up and then offer to claim on your insurance or if springchicken hasn't got any then the other lady can claim on hers.

tamum · 15/02/2006 16:31

I can't see that phoning is going to persuade her really. It seems to be that by far the most likely explanation is that she had already sold it (or lost it if I'm being charitable). She'll presumably just make excuses again, and fail to deliver again, and fs will be no further forward

tigermoth · 15/02/2006 19:31

Phoning with a straight question could get an honest answer - or a response that tells you all you need to know.

If you don't ask, you will never know more (assuming the necklace does not turn up in the post). Your choice, really.

I think I'd phone or get someone to phone on my behalf, as I just couldn't stand the suspense.

RedRidingHood · 15/02/2006 19:55

Hi been reading this thread - I wonder if something like a solicitors letter (any solicitors on MN?) would do the trick - there is also the small claims court if you have her address - I really don't know how much these things cost but maybe Citizens Advice could help. I think the police maybe could help but its understandable that you might not wish to go down that avenue.

Hope this helps

goldstarlover · 15/02/2006 20:10

i can't believe this still isn't resolved.

i know that general consensus on here is that police won't do anything but I would be absolutely gutted and totally fuming if someone had done this to me.

the fact that it was sent as a surprise is beside the point.

Sprinchicken has something that doesn't belong to her.
she is refusing to give it back.

i don't care WHY... it's still theft. and i would definitely call the police.

She's had more than enough last chances and being fair to... it's time to get tough and get the necklace back.
don't fanny around calling her, she obviously doesn't give a shit...

waterfalls · 15/02/2006 20:15

I think if she had sent it last week, she would have contacted you by now to see if you had recieved it.

merrymum · 15/02/2006 20:32

hi fs am still following this thread and am really cross on your behalf, i have searched current messages since last week and she hasnt posted since saturday at least not in the name spring chicken. someone suggested that she may have been fedup? have you contacted mn hq as fedup was banned could they not tell you if this was sc? ie same email address etc. and phone her, everyday if you have to she will hopefully get fud up of you calling and return it or be honest about where it is, with hold your number(141 infront) so she cant ignre you if she has caller id

intergalacticwalrus · 15/02/2006 20:42

so bloody for you FS. I wish I lived in Luton so I could go round for you. I cannot believe that someone could take the piss like this, especially as it's been going on for months.

HappyMumof2 · 15/02/2006 20:44

Message withdrawn

kid · 15/02/2006 20:48

Are there any MNers that live in Luton that may be willing to visit SC and post the necklace on her behalf?
I can't believe she is just ignoring your request to have the necklace back. I'm pleased you at least got the money you were due.

If you don't want to phone her yourself, then you must allow someone else to phone on your behalf. You shouldn't just sit back and allow SC to do whatever she wants, its your necklace so you are entitled to ask for it back.

freshstart · 15/02/2006 20:58

update

got soemone to ring for me today got told that sc was off work all week

then immediately got an email (same as when i rang last week) with an explanation about the delay. apparently its gone in the post today so will be here tomorrow

the stuff in the email didnt add up so think its more fabrications but still think there is hope the necklace may be on its way

thanks for all your help, ideas and support - hopefully its nearly over!!

Racers · 15/02/2006 22:51

Have followed your plight silently. Really hope it turns up FS, you don't deserve to have been messed about like this.

Agree with earlier poster about "FFS", I keep reading it that way too!

popsycalindisguise · 16/02/2006 08:45

If it arrives tomorrow, I will tidy up my bedroom

now there's a novelty

popsycalindisguise · 16/02/2006 08:46

sorry that makes me sound like a 13 year old - tidying my bedroom is my version of hat eating...
