Will MN HQ be able to do anything?

Thread Here

Although its not a nice thought I can only deduce from no communication that I have been ripped off for my wedding bits that I sold in good faith at a much reduced price for a mumsnetter.

I also out of the goodness of my stupid heart sent her the necklace I wore on my day for her soemthing borrowed.

I cant "believe" this is intentional as she was so grateful in the beginning.

But countless and emails and threads on here have turned nothing up

Will MN be able to do anything?

oh no
this is making me feel sick

tigermoth · 06/02/2006 12:46

I do so hope there is an explanation and that SC responds soon. I am sure SC, like any mumsnet regular, would hate to feel they had caused such a problem when this site is so supportive.

tigermoth · 06/02/2006 12:49

oh dear, just read the last few messages.

Could SC's partner be stopping or delaying her from sending the money? He might be a bit funny about her using internet sites. Does SC have a paid job of her own?

compo · 06/02/2006 12:49

Doesn't look good if it has now happened to 2 people

Flamesparrow · 06/02/2006 12:50

I wish there was something I could say or do... I remember you offering all the stuff at the time. Just the thought of all my wedding bits going is making me all choked up.

Rhubarb · 06/02/2006 12:52

Have put a link in that thread for SC to see. I think the crux of it is that all Mumsnetters should be very careful about doing this sort of thing. After all, we are all strangers here on the Net, and just because someone is a regular does not mean to say that they will not rip you off. That being said, I got some LeapPad books bought for me by a Mumsnetter, I put the cheque in the post without waiting for them to arrive, I guess I just took it in trust. But that was only £14, if it was a higher amount maybe I'd be a bit more careful?

Does freshstart not have SCs address or phone number or anything? MN towers might be able to help, but without more details what can anyone do?

serenity · 06/02/2006 12:53

One of the last posts from SC was saying she was starting a new job the following Monday (6/1/6 iirc) Hopefully it's just the confusion of going back to work and juggling childcare (she was stressing about nursery vs CM) has meant that time has slipped away from her?

Hope this gets resolved soon.

Dinosaur · 06/02/2006 12:56

I'm really surprised. SpringChicken was already a regular poster on here when I joined (three years ago). I've had email contact with her off the board too - she seemed like a regular gal.

tigermoth · 06/02/2006 12:59

hasn't SC moved house recently?

I agree with you rhubarb - this is the net and you have to be careful. I do find it hard to believe someone who seems to like being on mumsnet would do this to themselves, let alone making other people here upset.

TambaTheTemptress · 06/02/2006 13:22

Maybe she has the wrong adress for you and sent the POs to the wrong house and is thinking that your taking the piss by saying they arnt there?

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 13:47

Tamba, it happened to two people. Think trying to see the best in people is fall very well...BUT!!

jambuttie · 06/02/2006 14:05

Hope this all gets sorted out soon hun.

I too wouldnt like to think a fellow netter had ripped you off

keep us posted

NotQuiteCockney · 06/02/2006 14:07

Is it two people who had this happen? Or is it just PR and freshstart, who are the same person?

I agree that it all sounds dodgy, who would send two postal orders by registered delivery? You'd find out what happened to the first one, first.

Still, if it's just one person, it's possible this was a misunderstanding (bad address etc).

Rhubarb · 06/02/2006 14:08

Well, one consolation is that if she has been ripped off, that fellow netter might start to feel quite uncomfortable on MN!

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 14:10

It happened to Zephracat, she painted a picture which was never paid for

Fimbo · 06/02/2006 14:12

Zephyrcat was the other person it happened to.

Just sorry that you've had your faith in human nature shaken in this way! There are lots of Mnumsnetters who buy and sell from each other all the time and this is the first time I've heard of anything like this happening.

popsycalindisguise · 06/02/2006 14:17

i camt get in touch wit frstart...
i am going to email mn and direct them to this thread

jambuttie · 06/02/2006 14:18

i fell so awful for you hun

kinda put you right off buying and selling on here

LIZS · 06/02/2006 14:21

Wasn't there another one which has been ongoing since last summer ?

Sorry fs, how horrible to feel so let down

LadyTophamHatt · 06/02/2006 14:21

Oh blimey FS....what a nightmare for you. And something so special too.

I hope this is sorted out soon.

katierocket · 06/02/2006 14:22

"things that are posted using special delivery don't go missing - they have too much to pay in compensation if they do!"

That's not true. All special delivery does is supposedly guarantee that it's delivered next day but I've had stuff go missing using this service. It's only recorded delivery where your stuff is 'insured' in case they lose it.

Blossomhill · 06/02/2006 14:23

Fresh start

Poor you. Sounds like she is having you on. I am so, so sorry.

I feel awful for you.

Really hope you manage to get something sorted out.

You must have her address to have sent stuff to?
