Will MN HQ be able to do anything?

Thread Here

Although its not a nice thought I can only deduce from no communication that I have been ripped off for my wedding bits that I sold in good faith at a much reduced price for a mumsnetter.

I also out of the goodness of my stupid heart sent her the necklace I wore on my day for her soemthing borrowed.

I cant "believe" this is intentional as she was so grateful in the beginning.

But countless and emails and threads on here have turned nothing up

Will MN be able to do anything?

freshstart · 06/02/2006 09:22

I am sure there is an explantion

Radley · 06/02/2006 09:27

Hi B,

Nothing constructive to add, but just wanted to say how awful it is that you have been dumped upon after doing something out of the goodness of your heart.

Hulababy · 06/02/2006 09:29

SC has been online and posted in January 06, so is/was still around at the start of the year.

Hope you can sort it out

I'd definitely enaim MN HQ as they can tell you if SC is still registered, etc.

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 09:29

Am so shocked. Yes email HQ Did you not get back the stuff back either?

Freckle · 06/02/2006 09:30

Having read the linked thread, it certainly sounds as though SC was doing her best to get the money to you. Any possibility that her computer has died so she can't contact you that way (although there's always snail mail)? Could be that she is chasing Royal Mail. These things do take time.

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 09:31

Freckel she said she would send the stuff back in december and then nothing was heard again. and she did post on Jan 6th sdo her computer ws alive and kicking then....

Freckle · 06/02/2006 09:35

Hmm, doesn't look good then, does it?

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 09:36

weird because she is a well known and respected Msnetter so don't expect it. Always look for thebest inPeople but sometimes it is hard

freshstart · 06/02/2006 09:50

Its completely weird because at the time when I offered there was a public thread thanking me for my kindness etc. When I sent the stuff I said hold on for payment til I know what postage will be. She acknowledged receipt of everything. love it all. Then there was massive delay and postal order was supposed to be sent.

Another one was then apparently sent but if I had already had a postal order go missing I would send it registered or special delivery then I would be covered.

Also postal orders can be refunded if they go missing as the sender keeps teh counterfoil.

And yes, failing all of that the goods could have been returned as even though it would be regrettable and sad I cant afford to give them away.

i have a best friend getting married soon and if I was going to actually give them away would much rather she benefitted from them.

Off the boards I have also sent numerous CATs and Emails.

Wonder if SC is ok? I hope so or maybe she has changed her name.

If I have been had, If I was here I wouldnt feel at all comfortable wearing these things on my wedding day. Especially my sentimental necklace that I desperately wanted back - my own daft faul I suppose

you can go through the small claims court to get your money and the court costs back. it's really easy to do, all online. It's not like a CCJ so won't show up in her credit ratings.
Send her a letter first, recorded delivery, giving her a reasonable ultimatum (i.e. payment within 2 weeks) and saying that you will have to take further action after that time.
Don't leave it. And TBH I would stop trying to get hold of her by email and go straight for a recorded letter.
It sounds totally dodgy - if it was indeed sent recorded delivery it can be tracked and compensation can be claimed, and of course postal orders can be traced.

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 12:34

any news?

popsycalindisguise · 06/02/2006 12:36

betty - freshstart isnt at her computer....been trying to get hold of her all morning

it is all very sad expecially the necklace

Beetroot · 06/02/2006 12:38

oh no did she 'sell' her a necklace? was i sentimental?

popsycalindisguise · 06/02/2006 12:39

no she let her borrow it as the 'something vorrowed'
freshstart wore it for her own wedding (not sure if it was new then but suspect t was)
freshstart being the person she is, sent it as an extra thing without SC expecting it

tissy · 06/02/2006 12:39

no, she lent it, as "something borrowed". Hope there's an explanation...

popsycalindisguise · 06/02/2006 12:39

and sorry for calling you betty

compo · 06/02/2006 12:39

this is shocking, hope it gets resolved

popsycalindisguise · 06/02/2006 12:40

does anyone know SC in real life?
am hoping that there is a genuine explanation and could get SC to get in touch

SorenLorensen · 06/02/2006 12:43

This is really sad and horrible. I hope it's all a terrible misunderstanding, though it's hard to see how it could be.

popsycalindisguise · 06/02/2006 12:43

oh no i have just found this

zephyrcat · 06/02/2006 12:43

'freshstart' I had a similar thing with sc a while back although not quite the same... I paintred her a picture for her dd that she asked me to do for her then kept saying the PO was in the post. Never got it though....

popsy, check the date - it's from last January, not 2006.
