MY NANNA CAME ROUND THIS MORNING TO GIVE US OUR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS SHE ASKED MY BOYFRIEND TO HELP WITH HEAVY BAG I SAID HE CANT CUZ HE WAS IN CAR CRASH ANE GOT CRACKED BONES IN BACK AND NOT ALLOWED 2 LEFT HEAVY THINGS

SO I GIVE HER HER PRESENT (A BOX OF BLACK MAGIC CHOCLATES) SHE WENT HOME THEN PHONED UP MY MUM LATER SAYING SHES NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT I GOT HER SHE ALSO CALLED DP A LAZY SLOB CUZ HE DIDNT HELP HER AND CUZ OF THAT WE GAVE ALL HER PRESENTS BACK TO HER

AND NOW SHES NOT TALKING TO ANY OF US HOW CHILDISH IS THAT

I care about text speak, I care about the dumbing down of the nation, never mind the dumbing down of Mumsnet.

Ooo, a christmas fight.

I have noticed Mumsnet tends to have very high literary standards. On other chat boards (from whence I have travelled) there is textspeak and bad spelling all over, dontcha know. Also for some reason all lower-case and/or terrible typos are acceptable. Inconsistency!

Agree curmudgeon is a great word. I call my upstairs neighbour Curmudgeon - Mudge for short. Once I accidentally called him Mudge to his face, he looked very confused.

I once posted something under another name, and people weren't exactly horrid to me but I was very surprised at the reaction my thread got. I just slunk away under a stone and learnt from it. She's not being horrid to you. She doesn't know you, and it's veyr easy on these boards just to see the writing and forget there's a person with feelings behind it.

It really is Christmas that does this to people. She's just looking for a way to let off steam and you happen to be in the firing line...
