sometimes we kind of forget and then we're out or something, then it's the weekend then it's suddenly a week since their last bath. is that bad?

I do it the same days as you QoQ - Sunday (with hair wash), Tuesday and Thursday. They are dds and just don't get that dirty. Couldn't be bothered with the hassle every night! They are never keen on getting in and then never keen on getting out!! Hair only needs doing once a week too.

I also only had a bath once a week as a kid and wasn't a stinker (I don't think!!).

triceratops · 23/09/2005 15:35

ds gets dry skin if he gets bathed daily. Once a week is fine for him. He does have a wash every day though with a flannel round the grubby bits. He only needs his hair washing once a month or if it is full of suncream/dinner/playdough/sand etc etc etc

Daily bathing is very unhealthy IMO. I used to work with someone who had a bath every night and a shower every morning. What was she doing in between?

sweetkitty · 23/09/2005 15:51

Every second night for DD whos 14 months old, don't like to bath her every night.

madmarchhare · 23/09/2005 15:58

Not lax, just dont see the point in every day unless they are filthy so probably 2/3 times a normally.

saffy202 · 23/09/2005 17:11

DS2 once or twice a week, he also has eczema so like to keep his skin as dry as possible. DS1 goes more often but at nearly 12 he just pops into the shower on his own.

MascaraOHara · 23/09/2005 17:14

once a week normally as dd gets dry skin, it was once a day when she was small but her skin is much better now. Sometimes twice a week if it's been hot as she gets very sweaty

crazydazy · 23/09/2005 17:16

Mine Wednesdays and Sundays mainly and DS sometimes has an extra one as he loves the bath and generally gets more dirty than DD. They have all over washes every night tho'!!!

Every night it's part of our bed time rountine

diva4mgl · 23/09/2005 17:32

every day, occassionally we do have day off LoL

crazydazy · 23/09/2005 18:54

We don't have a shower so an all over wash is quicker than filling the bath yes.

LilacLotus · 23/09/2005 18:55

DD (4) has a shower every morning.

fuzzywuzzy · 23/09/2005 18:59

both dd's have a shower every evening, hair is washed every other day, unless of course dd1 has tried washing both their hair with juice, in which case hair is washed on that day to get juice out.

Papillon · 23/09/2005 19:06

dd 23 months... gets in shower with me most mornings and sits in a bucket. Rarely use soap, probably once a week, put almond oil on her more, also seems to remove dirt. Have hardly ever washed her hair... perhaps 3 times in total... put almond oil on it... she does not have alot of hair so no point.

juicychops · 23/09/2005 19:17

ds is 8 months. bath every evening except if he stays at MIL then he misses a night

tallulah · 24/09/2005 09:39

Can I just ask, everyone who insists on daily baths and showers, is your water metered? I find it odd that MN is full of threads about how we are destroying the planet (partic anti-car) yet there are still loads of people who do this shower in morning and bath at night routine. Unless you work down a mine, is it really necessary? A woman I know whose whole family (5 of them) have a bath and shower each every day goes off to sit in an office for 8 hours in between......

Our water bills used to be really high when they were based on rateable value (small but new 3 bed house). When we moved here there was a meter and the bills dropped by about 25-30%.

OMG

I cant believe the amount of people who bath their kids every night! Good on you! Wish I was more organised!

I bath them on a sunday night - youngest son hates it so dont want to freak him out more than necessary! Obviously if they are more dirty than usual then I will bath them - I'm not that bad a mother!

I only used to get a bath once a week as a child! Sunday night was 'bath night'! Oh and before parties too I seam to remember having a wash in front of the fire!

No meter here. Our water bills aren't astronomical despite our family of 5 being daily bathers/showerers

mymama · 24/09/2005 12:05

My 3 shower every day and we have water meters. I think I would worry about crusty bits and infections in my boys (not circumcised0

fqueenzebra · 24/09/2005 12:45

I have small boys.
I don't bathe them every day. Closer to Nighty-night's regime (although DS1 goes swimming 1x/week, after a shower, mind).
They don't have infections, smelly willies or bottoms.
Skulks off now...

serenity · 24/09/2005 12:51

2 or 3 times a week, and they don't smell or have crusty bits either They do wash morning and night as well.

DD sometimes has more, if she has a nasty nappy or just for fun during the day. I'm not sure how people have time to fit all these baths in? Do you have really quick ones? Mine are normally in there 20/30 minutes and still fight when you tell them to get out
