sometimes we kind of forget and then we're out or something, then it's the weekend then it's suddenly a week since their last bath. is that bad?

Used to do it twice a week. But then DS caught impetigo from nursery which is highly contagious but avoidable through good hygiene. Since then have done it practically every night as I want to avoid a repeat of the experience!

pinkmagic1 · 23/09/2005 09:47

Every night, unless we have been out and get back late and DS is tired. I only wash hair once a week however because he finds it very traumatic!

lucy5 · 23/09/2005 10:11

Every night more or less. Wash her hair 2-3 times week. Dd is 4.

puff · 23/09/2005 10:12

Every other day (age 4 and 2)

daisy1999 · 23/09/2005 10:15

twin dds aged 6 - every night. hair washed every 2 to 3 days.

geekgrrl · 23/09/2005 10:15

a couple of times a week - used to be once a week. I hate bathtimes, it's so stressful with three small children.

Toothache · 23/09/2005 10:23

Good god we don't have time to do it everyday! .
Get in at 6.10pm. Dinner cooked and eaten by 7pm. 30mins 'quality' time with them reading or letting them play together.... then bed!
We can't get them up any earlier in the morning for a bath as its just not fair. They already have to get up at about 6.30am.
Twice a week is more than enough for my 2. As long as I keep their face and hands clean every day!

So its bath on Saturday (Friday if they are really minging) and again on a Tuesday (DH's day off).

dejags · 23/09/2005 10:25

winter time - five times a week
summer time - once if not twice a day (hot climate means smelly feet etc)
hair washed once a week on sundays

mine are 4 and 1

Toothache · 23/09/2005 10:25

Dejags - Mine are 4 and 1 as well.... where do you live????

JonesTheSteam · 23/09/2005 10:27

Every other day (DD 4 and DS2) - more often if they are particularly grubby - DD has just started having a shower on the weekends - was terrified of it before!!!

Cape Town Toothache, gets very hot and smelly summertime.

I chuck em in the bath together and have been know to literally hose the older one down when he is really grubby (making mud pies is the activity of choice in the hot months)

Eaney · 23/09/2005 11:24

DS (almost 6)about once a week unless there is obvious need. Water makes him itchy (eczema).

DD (8mths) about twice a week unless obvious need. Her skin started to flake off after baths even though she desn't have eczema.

I think tap water is full of stuff that irritates young skin. A quick shower is better imo/e.

Toothache · 23/09/2005 11:28

lol Dejags. I knew you couldn't possibly be in the UK when you were complaining about it being hot and sticky!

tiredemma · 23/09/2005 11:32

every night as part of thier bedtime routine.

englishbeauty · 23/09/2005 11:45

every other night with mine! they are 16 months and 3 nearly

Nightynight · 23/09/2005 11:47

about once a month, more often if they need it

scotlou · 23/09/2005 11:55

Ds about 3 times a week. dd about 5 times a week. Used to be baths every night but now we have a wonderful new shower I try and get them to use that instead. They both go in together.

tiredemma · 23/09/2005 11:58

Nightynight, once a month?

how do they stay so clean throughout the month???

scully · 23/09/2005 12:04

Every night, only misses a night if she has fallen asleep on the way home from nursery. dd is 3.
It's part of her bedtime routine, and I like a shower every night so I figure she must like to go to bed clean as well
But I grew up in a hot climate, where's it's a necessity, not a choice. Always found it one of those strange cultural things over here that it wasn't a standard thing to do every day

pinkmagic1 · 23/09/2005 14:20

I know what you mean Scully. I have to shower twice a day, morning and night otherwise I feel really grubby but I know many people who don't feel it is neccasary to do it daily.

robinia · 23/09/2005 14:33

Bath night is Sunday. Otherwise showers when needed - in summer this could be every day, in winter has been as little as once a week (in addition to the bath). Hair once a week plus after swimming. Dd now 9 and ds1 now 8 and am beginning to increase number of showers.

NomDePlume · 23/09/2005 14:34

All 3 (DS1 - 13, DS2 - nearly 12, DD - 3) get a bath every evening

robinia · 23/09/2005 14:35

I do think routinely bathing every day is excessive and contributing to problems with water shortages [waits to be shot down in flames]
