Wow, Etsy is lovely, did you sell one of your baskets?

Sputnik · 25/11/2010 22:12

Etsy

Francagoestohollywood · 25/11/2010 22:14

It's marvellous, I'd buy pretty much everything. Have fallen in love with some vintage buttons... I mean, what would I do with buttons?
So, did you sell to someone in the US?

Sputnik · 25/11/2010 22:18

No, I sold this cushion cover.
My shop.
Baskets aren't really commercially viable unless you're pretty fast at making them.

Sputnik · 25/11/2010 22:22

Yes, to someone in the US, I hope they get it in time if it's an xmas present. Need to make more stuff now!

Francagoestohollywood · 25/11/2010 22:26

Sputnik, I'm impressed. I didn't know you had such a creative strike (is strike the right word???).
Bravissima Smile. I love the other owl cushion, it is beautiful Smile

Sputnik · 25/11/2010 22:33

Streak I think is what you mean!
I am a designer at heart really, that's what I like most about web design, when I get to do any that is.
But I'm quite enjoying the sewing, I am listening to Radio 4 while I'm doing it so it's quite relaxing. Which is good with all the other stuff I've had going on lately.

eurocommuter · 26/11/2010 05:22

Sputnik that is lovely! I've never heard of Etsy before. Well done on the sale and hope you have many more!
Thanks Buch, ur dp is pleasing to the eye too. I can couch for that ladies!
Thanks all for confirming that I wasn't over reacting.

eurocommuter · 26/11/2010 05:27

That was meant to be vouch. Its too early. On my way home. Forgot to book my flight for this week so flying into bologna.

Rosa · 26/11/2010 12:30

Sput that is lovely and well done to you !. Eurocommuter hope you don't get stuck in snow it seems to be pretty bad all down the middle. We just have rain and high water and wind. Its COLD COLD I have put the heating on 1st time in the day time this year. Went to the mainland yesterday and did top up shopping for the dds and did 2 crazy buys...1 pair of sort of fake ugg fur boots for dd1 from Zara and a lovely book about Natale from feltrinelli ( bit of a poor childrens section though). The book is all about the story of Father Christmas with lots of useful real info in as well like where they name Teddy Bear came from and what reindeers eat and live on . It was 22.90 but I fugured its got some years in it in my house ! I only bought 1 xmas present however and couldn't find a jacket for me. Despite loosing lots of weight I am not yet an L or XL in the big down jackets. I did fit into the thinner ones but I need a BIG warm one !!!! Oh well Pallestra tonight and I must stop eating those Ikea ginger biscuits the tin never seems to empty !

Francagoestohollywood · 26/11/2010 13:47

Streak, that's the word! It must be fantastic being creative and able at making stuff, it is certainly something I miss. And I agree that it is really relaxing (I went through a stage of untidy cross stitching).

Rosa, Zara makes some great UGG style boots for girls, well done!

Today it was my 4th time volunteering at a small nursery, and I'm very satisfied Smile

Sputnik · 27/11/2010 21:39

Can anyone tell me what tissue paper is in Italian?

Sputnik · 27/11/2010 21:41

Oh, and meant to say Rosa that Zara sizing is ridiculously small. That's may story anyway and I'm sticking to it.

DelGirl · 27/11/2010 21:48

can't help Sputnik! But, can you save the crochet red star tree decoration for me please? Very impressed with your handy work, you kept that quiet! Will we see you tomorrow?? x

Sputnik · 27/11/2010 22:24

Ok will do! Unfortunately we are stuck in Rome again this weekend, as DH was away again and only got back this afternoon, plus DD has a cold so we decided against it. Will definitely be up next weekend though.

BananaGio · 28/11/2010 08:21

Sput really impressed!! Good luck with it. Internet is great isnt it. Our tree is up Smile, I am happy as is DS. DP thinks we're mad! Didnt realise you were volunteering Franca. How often do you do that? Delgirl how are you finding life over here?
Am very cross with facebook at the mo. Has some bug meaning my photo tabs arent available to friends. As photos are the only reason I joined fb really is v annoying. Seems to be an issue for quite a few but fb doing nothing to address from what I can see.
Sput are you planning a visit to the new kids store in Rome- have you seen it? Called Little Big Town and is on Piazza Venezia. Multi floor shop like Hamleys fro what I can tell. I went to it yesterday but people were queueing outside at 3 for it to open at 4 and I had an appointment with Harry Potter at 4.30 Smile. Plus Totti was due to be there and I wasnt looking my best Smile

Carta Vellina (SP) me thinks Carta Crespa is crepe paper. Well done on the tree I am holding out a bit longer as dd is getting very excited about it all - a Kinder egg with a christmas wrapper sent her into orbit !
Re shops there seems to be some good ones opening up in Milan and Rome - had heard that Gap is open in Milan and should be opening in Rome....How about a M&S then??
Franca how lovely helping at a nursery it is very rewarding - I do dd school for free and I do enjoy it - would be nice if some money came along but it won't - the children this year are fewer and so much easier than last year . FOul weather here but only rain. AM taking dd to her craft session despite the rain as she enjoys it and due to the bad weather the mums can join in as well!

Francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2010 18:05

Yes, Gap opened last Saturday and Banana Republic will open on the 2nd I think. I haven't visited yet, but dh went and was disappointed that they didn't stock his fav Gap essentials: socks and mutande Grin. Apparently they'll arrive next week.
I find that Gap is very hit and miss, sometimes it's great, sometimes utterly depressing.

I volunteer one day a week at this nursery (which I'm loving) and one day at the dc's school, where we are in charge of the library.
Rosa, I didn't know you were helping on top of teaching english, brava Smile!

Gio have you sorted your probs with fb? Did you like HP?

We went to the inlaws yesterday, and it snowed a lot. The dc were really happy and made a pupazzo di neve. Also, mil has made all sorts of clothes/coats etc (even a fake fur) for dd's barbies and she is over the moon.

Sputnik · 28/11/2010 19:49

I always assumed there must already be a Gap in Milano as there is Italian on their labels. Would be nice if they came here too. As for M&S, I saw one in Athens so why not here?
Snow sounds fun. We were stuck in Rome, it rained all day and the DCs were climbing the walls. This flat is defnitely too small to spend all weekend in without going anywhere!

Francagoestohollywood · 29/11/2010 11:45

No, this is the first Gap store. The gossip has always been that Gap had wanted to enter the Italian market for ages, but wasn't allowed by the powerful Benetton.
Zara opened in 2002 (followed suit by H&M), so Gap got here a bit late, I think.

A wet weekend indoors with active children requires huge doses of Zen patience Grin

Rosa · 29/11/2010 12:54

Sput I am dreading m new place and bad weather as its is smaller than here but we will just have to wait and see mind you I am already hating some of the other condominium (sp) people - hate is a strong word but seriously they are going OTT. DH reckons we will only last a few years in the new place as we are quite fatti nostri kind of people we are polite but thats about it . Unless we are friends I frankly am not bothered about who does what and when ...Its not my buisness but it seems that everybody wants to know ours and also put a spoke in the works ! Arrggghhh. I think I might just have to come on a shopping trip to Milan I do like Gap !!!
Finished the stuff I am preparing for Natale for the school and we should get our orders about doing the backdrop for the nativity scene soon- We are hoping for a water themed one - as everybody makes boats or gondolas but the suore capo has to decide! Suns out here now its cold but sunny -Lucky your dc about a snowman dd would be jealous !

Francagoestohollywood · 29/11/2010 18:20

Mmmmm neighbours are tricky, aren't they? They can be a total nightmare. Have you ever been to a riunione di condominio? It can be a shocking experience, trust me.
But I'm sure you'll be fine Rosa, as you are lovely and your neighbours are going to love you.

Guess what I did today as well? I joined a gym Shock. I'm quite motivated, as my back is playing up too much, I need to exercise.

Sputnik · 29/11/2010 19:43

I am really lucky with our neighbour here she is really nice even though she des tend to try and organise my life a bit sometimes. But she has our keys and is fine with letting people in to read the meter etc if we're out. Plus plus plus we delegate her to go to the riunioni di condominio for us specifically so we don't have to :o.

Sputnik · 29/11/2010 19:45

Well done on the gym joining too Fanca, when I had back problems that was what resolved it for me. I am getting a bit of exercise here and there but not enough really, should make more effort.
