Grintuss is also omopatico and it tastes like a sort of sour honey !!!! Levotuss we have to put with water and succo to disguise it ! I actually like aerosol esp when they cannot blow their nose and it helps to bring it all down. DD1 also has cartoons for aerosol and minirosa we have to bribe and do it in short bursts.

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 14:55

Ah rosa, there is the usual "Venice with toddlers" thread. Perhaps you will be more helpful than I was Grin

Rosa · 15/11/2010 16:47

Have posted but what people forget is that yes we have canals but say if you go to Paris or London what is the difference about safety there you wouldn't let your toddler run any further away would you ?
I think I am getting Mrosa / dd cold thing ( not surpriesing really seeing I have been sneezed , coughed + snotted on constantly in the past 5 days! I have cancelled palestra tonight ...so must be feeling rotten !

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 16:53

Indeed Rosa.

Oh no! Don't get ill!!!

BananaGio · 15/11/2010 19:48

dose yourself up Rosa and have an early night if you can.
Empathise re not having people around to call on for dcs. I was going to a birthday aperitivo party on Saturday for one of the Mums from school and DP went fuori Roma for the day to visit the cemetery where his Mum is buried. I called FIL to see if I could drop DS at his if DP wasnt back in time and was told no cos he has to go out at that time with his 2 dogs and it would be too much for him. That was the first time in ds's 4 years I have asked him to do anything like that! Luckily dp was back in time so I went and drank prosecco and had a piece of Mont Blanc as my treat from my diet Smile. Lost 2.2 kilos this week ladies SmileSmile

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 20:59

Well done Gio! Wow, 2.2 kilos in a week is amazing!

Gosh, your FIL is useless Sad

Sputnik · 15/11/2010 21:55

Yes excellent result.
You mean you asked you FIL to (maybe) babysit while you went gallivanting off to a party? Wink

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 22:04

I've just been on a "weepy movie" thread, which reminded me of the movie L'Incompreso by Luigi Comencini. I managed to find only 10 minutes of it on youtube and I wept like a loon Sad

BananaGio · 15/11/2010 22:07

Grin Sput, I know. I should have known better. It was a very civilised party, from 5-8 and I was cornered by the hosts Mother who was a lovely lady but insisted on telling me all about how life was better under Mussolini and how her husband had a beautiful death.....

OP posts:
minervaitalica · 16/11/2010 07:43

Grin at the Mother... There is always one. And congratulations on the weightloss (I could do with slimming down a few pounds in the next month or so tbh, but am far too lazy. On the positive side DD ate all my breakfast this am so that's a few calories less than normal.

I will try aerosol for next time - let's see whether it works. With cartoons of course - they should come with a prescription.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/11/2010 12:36

Ah yes, there is always a nostalgico of Mussolini [Grin Hmm...

My period's just started and I feel crappola.

I made the children write their letter to Father Christmas yesterday afternoon, so now I can start sorting the presents out. Of course they overdid it, especially ds who asked for an ipod, a nintendo ds (never going to happen), a flipper, a calcio balilla, a wii (in his dreams), bay blade, etc etc... dream on ds!!! Grin

Rosa · 16/11/2010 16:14

We found the Wii actually great fun for all of us including minriosa great for wet days ....
I am fighting the cold with zerinol and have a festa a surpresa sta sera fpr a friend who has had a really crap year !
Gio your FIL just gets worse!!!! Glad you had a nice refined evening and 2.2kg in a week BRAVA !
Its chucking it down here ......
I have to make my lists of what I still have to buy along with what room in teh new house needs what !

Francagoestohollywood · 16/11/2010 17:41

I know that the wii is good fun, but we really are trying to resist getting electronic games, as I fear that ds might want to do that all the time. And that would be another reason for me to referee...

Sputnik · 16/11/2010 19:46

Lol at the xmas lists, flipper and all!
Just back from a party at soft play, we were there on saturday too. I now need to lie down in a darkened room for about a week.

Oh and never mind an ipod, one of DD's classmates brought in his ipad today, presumably his birthday present Shock

Sputnik · 16/11/2010 19:48

BTW, mine both play on the computer, though we limit it. I would rather that than the tv tbh.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/11/2010 22:52

Yes, mine play on the computer (usually on nick jr), and we limit that to 30 mins. Trouble is that ds would like to play for longer and hates to take turns with dd, so I need to monitor.
I have to say that I prefer if they watch a dvd (as you know we don't have "normal" tv), rather than play on the pc, but as you know I'm a technophobe Grin

Shock at a child owning an ipad...

Rosa · 18/11/2010 12:59

I Pad now thats pushing things - dd1 does play bubbles on Dh I phone every once in a while ...usually when we are in a traffic jam !!!!!
I have a very blocked up one sinus side. I can't get it to clear have tried , steaming, aerosol, anti infallatories but nothing will shift it ...ANy suggestions?...( the other side is fine !)Its affecting my balance at times as well.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/11/2010 13:19

Oh that's bad Rosa, I feel for you.
I'd keep steaming (add some bicarbonato) as often as possible and I'd get l'acqua di sirmione from the farmacia, it is said to work wonders.
If it doesn't unblock in 3 days, I'd see the gp.

Sputnik · 18/11/2010 19:24

Sounds awful Rosa. Are you doing aerosol with clenil? Second what Franca says about the gp.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/11/2010 20:26

Oh dear, I'm getting obsessed by zombies, again Hmm

I need distraction. Ikea, anyone?

Sputnik · 18/11/2010 20:52

Is this a frequent problem for you then Franca?
Uhm, ok. Where would be the best department of Ikea to hide in in case of a zombie attack?

Sputnik · 18/11/2010 21:01

Ok, not Ikea, but I'll bore with my ebay story if you like, I sold one of DD's old Boden t-shirts a while back for £9.50. It was one of her favourites so I've been looking out for the same one in a bigger size. Finally got one for £4.38, so even with postage I am up on the deal, so feeling pleased with myself tonight :)

Francagoestohollywood · 18/11/2010 21:01

Grin! It happens maybe twice a year, yes.
Yesterday night (pushed by all these threads on zombie plans here on MN) I gave in and watched Dawn of the Dead (the remake).

Mmmm obviously we should hide in the restaurant and make the most of the free meatballs. But Ikea would be too easy for the zombies to break in.
We'd have to hide in a Pax closet.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/11/2010 21:02

Awwww, well done Smile. I bet she'll be really pleased, I know my dd would be.

Sputnik · 18/11/2010 21:27

I think so, she actually brought it up out of the blue a few days ago, so she was still thinking about it. Speaking of whom, she just had a visit from the tooth fairy, what are you supposed to do with the old teeth?
