I am trying to keep a log of all of these bargains as I am on a hold spend until we get the bank loan through for the renovations...Should be soon I hope as I have baskets all over the place waiting to be bought.
SO DH says he had saved all my documents on teh hard disk esterno ...Oh why did I believe him I have my documents until June this year. He did this to me in the past when we changed computer and now that the new computer has gone AWOl I am stuffed. I have 3 more USA tours to sort out and thank god I have the basic printed off hard copy but I need more ...arrggghhh Thats it I am getting MY pen drive and I am saving weekly from now on in.
Just been and done San Martino with dd school so sweet 4/5 yr olds with plastic bottles filled with stones singing in shops and per strada. We got 2 huge baskets of sweets / biscuits etc as well !! This afternoon its fests in the school with the Ones they made themselves and a papa is dressing up as San Martino for the bimbi....Lovely Venetian tradition !

Francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2010 13:43

Rosa: San Martino sounds lovely Smile

Minerva, sorry you are having such a hard time with your order. What a nightmare!

As I said, I stick just to amazon as far as internet shopping is concerned. Though I fell in love with this www.notonthehighstreet.com/nordicelements/product/magnetic-notice-boards Should I or shouldn't I???

Euro sorry to hear you're stuck in London for the weekend.

I agree that working long hrs is extremely stressing without:
a) a partner who does his fare share of housework/parenting
b) a cleaner or a nanny of a bit of both.
c) a nonna Grin

Bucharest · 11/11/2010 14:05

Oh, Franca, anything from NoTHS you should, you should...Grin

Francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2010 14:09

Are they reliable, do you think? (I'm a technophobe, I dread using my cc online Blush)

Sputnik · 11/11/2010 16:36

That magnet board is lovely but I actually winced when I saw the price!
I use my cc left right and centre on the web no problem, if you're worried you could get a ricaricabile one.

Bucharest · 11/11/2010 16:48

I've never been "done" online shopping, and I've spent thousands ever such a lot. Grin

Just ordered loads of Christmas deckies from M & S (10% off everything PERWEB05)

eurocommuter · 11/11/2010 17:55

You are on a roll Buch! I need to register with quidco! I'm just lazy. I have already spent so much on line and could have earned some cash back!
Love NOTHS but could never be able to justify their prices to myself! So I've never shopped their!

Francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2010 18:51

It is exorbitant, this is another reason holding me back. Bear in mind the first one I fell in love with was this. Unthinkable!!!

Sputnik · 11/11/2010 20:31

Actually I like the green one more, also it has the hanger and shelf things too at the bottom so multifunctional. Go on, buy it, you will love it forever and I bet you'll get loads of "ooh where did you get that" style comments.

Sputnik · 11/11/2010 20:34

I am liking this silver rubber duck

Francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2010 20:52

Awwww cute!

I'd also like to have money to waste on these wallpapers silhouettes

Francagoestohollywood · 11/11/2010 20:53

Yes, dd would love the green magnetic board. I liked the big one for its 1950s vibes...

BananaGio · 12/11/2010 06:40

oh that site is gorgeous! Loads very expensive but are a few nice bits and bobs which don't break the bank.
Franca never had an issue shopping online and I am an addict. Much much prefer it to traipsing round shops. Apart from clothes and shoes-still need to try those on I find.

minervaitalica · 12/11/2010 09:14

I gave up on photobox eventually; I did it all with Vistaprint and it's now done. Should be here in a week or so. Phew. I am getting stressed for nothing these days.

Euro, I echo Franca's comments on working long hours. I do work long hours too (sometimes away) and so does my DH (who is away 2 days a week without fail), but:
1)I have a partner that does 50-50 childcare when around
2)DD goes to asilo full time
3)A cleaner comes twice a week, plus few hours extra for spring cleaning
4)I have a nonna (retired), nonno, zia and prozia around, all young, willing to help and with their own cars.
5)I have someone doing the ironing and brings the dry cleaning back and forth.
So I have plenty of help and sometimes it is still difficult. Gosh I feel spoilt.

OFf to check M&S decs...

Rosa · 12/11/2010 13:49

Had a huge post and then lost it....
RE M&S I tried putting an Xmas tree in the basket but they won't deliver it. Mind you I am still on a spending ban until we get the money and we need another bit of paper ...I am so cross I could cry.....

Francagoestohollywood · 12/11/2010 16:12

Great to hear none of you has had bad experiences shopping online. As I said I'm a bit of a technophobe, but I also enjoy real shops too much Grin

Yes, Minerva, no, I don't think you are spoiled. The majority of my italian female friends work full time and have a tata, or great involved nonni and most have a partner who does his fare share of parenting/housework etc.

Rosa · 15/11/2010 08:07

Minerva you are lucky and it sounds as if you appreciate it. yesterday DD1 went to a craft pm ( taken by her teacher as Minirosa was sleeping) . Minirosa then went down with febbre and so DH was working we had to call on Nonna to go and get her. We only call for help in situations like this ! BTW Minirosa has done this virus in reverse.Nasty cough followed by heavy cold and now febbre ..BOH and I took her to the paed on Friday when she was at the cough stage!!!! . Anyway she is flat and not eating at the mo...Vediamo. WHen my parents were here last weekend I realised how much MIL is actually missing out on her grandchildren just by coming over and spending time with them. When she does come over she wants to help / play but its the getting her over ..maybe its just me !

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 11:46

Oh poor minirosa. Dd has had a cold/cough for 2 weeks now, no temperature and she seems well in herself. Do you think I should get her checked up by the doctor?

I think it is a shame that your mil is not that involved rosa with the dds, is it because her health is a bit fragile?

I basically spent the whole weekend cooking for various friends who came over. I'm now making lasagne, and feel a bit Nigella Grin

Rosa · 15/11/2010 12:16

I just took minirosa on Fri as we now have no continuita pediatrica now and I know that she would get worse ..... There is loads round and he said Aerosol with clineil and fluibron . DD1 still has a good cough grasso but far better than it was. I am OTT on spremuta di arancia and early bed times. Minirosa has eaten some lunch and has now fallen asleep on the sofa I don't think I will move her either as she is sort of propped up with cushions so breathing better.
Well done on Nigella I have cheated and poured a Buitoni packet cake in a tin this morning as I just diddn't have time to make one for domani sera !!

Rosa · 15/11/2010 12:18

Oh and MIL is sano ( apart from the cigs she smokes)She likes it when she does things - like today I have asked her to go get DD1 from asilo as dh is on the mainland getting piastrelle for the kitchen ( we ran out !). However she won't offer to go again but likes being asked ..Boh !

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 12:38

Ah, I see, she never offers, doesn't she? Perhaps you should ask more often, I know it is difficult but it is worth a try, if she really enjoys helping out.

Yes, dd has been doing aerosol for a few days now (though she's skipped sat and sunday), plus 2 spoonfuls of STODAL twice a day. She's been eating lots of mandarini, she adores them.

Rosa · 15/11/2010 12:41

Maybe I should oh well we will see.
We have been giving Grintuss here but Minirosa has to be bribed to take it ! Mind you the 1st night of her bad cough I gave Levotuss and when it works its works well !

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 12:48

I think STODAL is omeopatico, therefore totally useless, but at least dd likes it. She also likes the taste of tachipirina. But I do have to bribe her with the aerosol. She only does it if she can watch a dvd Grin. Fair enough, I think.

minervaitalica · 15/11/2010 13:16

I have never tried aerosol, but doctor suggested we do next time she catches a cough (very soon, if we go by her sickness history since the start of asilo). She refuses Levotuss and also any kinf of tachipirina (although I will try the drops).

I feel very organised today - I sorted pressies for all the little ones I am buying for last weekend... Including DD. Am I smug or what?

Francagoestohollywood · 15/11/2010 13:26

Grin... wow you are efficient. I still haven't really thought about Christmas. And the children haven't made up their minds about what they'd like.

We went without aerosol for years, as when we were in the UK it was never suggested by our GP. I don't think aerosol is popular in the UK. Plus, my dc have never really suffered from coughing.
Dd had her first aerosol a few months ago, when a cold turned into a nasty dry cough and the gp told us to try it out.
