Tea Room the Fourteenth

Welcome to the 14th instalment of the Tea Room. It's now officially spring, and we've moved the tea room to a Gipsy caravan pulled by the tea room horses, which is making its way up the countryside in an effort to follow spring. There are of course hedgerows filled with spring flowers, Mellors the handsome gardener/driver/handyperson, the usual virtual Bishops, and the assorted animals and characters from previous tea rooms. All are very welcome to join in with us parents of one (or indeed more!) for general chat and the occasional very odd conversation. Climb aboard, grab a cuppa, enjoy the view, relax!...

Hello Larakitten.

Ashes to Ashes is one of those things (like the Sopranos and Mad Men) which I wish I'd watched from the beginning, if only for the soundtrack. It's been a while since we had a Friday night disco - and it's been a little tricky fixing the glitter balls to the outside of the caravan, but I borrowed some of UniS's rigging (sorry, Unis ) - so I think we're good to go. So let's don our blue mascara, fire up the Quattro and head onto the dancefloor.

Tell me more about the bath tub, Cmot. What shape is it?

teafortwo · 09/04/2010 22:32

trowel - It has been a long time since we have had music in the tearoom!

FAB FAB FAB!!!!

At the moment Milk and I can't get enough of this song...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wmDDi_rSFA&feature=related

We sing it on the Metro . Milk likes to change the word 'London' to the current Metro stop.

Hi larakitten - welcome to this weird madness LOVELY tearoom!!!!

TrowelAndError · 09/04/2010 22:38

Oh I do like a bit of Two Tone.

This has recently had me strutting my stuff.

teafortwo · 09/04/2010 22:39

p.s trowel look on CMOT's profile. She has PHOTOS of the bathroom... swooon swoon!!!

When I was a lickle girl I was seriously planning on owning this bathroom....

[wonders where it all went wrong emotion]

teafortwo · 09/04/2010 22:47

Well if we are dancing around handbags...

TrowelAndError · 09/04/2010 22:53

Yes, I've been looking at Cmot's bathroom porn photo, trying to decide whether the bath is wedge-shaped or I need new bifocals. I'm not allowed to look at your dream bathroom for copyright reasons in the UK, apparently.

It's back to the 80s

teafortwo · 09/04/2010 23:40

Do you remember the flake ad with the woman in the bath...??? Well... that!

teafortwo · 09/04/2010 23:52

I have work in the morning so it is last song...

Either you have to hug your mates and fall over or get that snog you've been hoping for all night... your choice!

Night night!!!

thumbwitch · 10/04/2010 13:53

Gah, I think I need to be ejected from the tea room - lovely thought your new bathroom is, CMOTD, I acksherly drooled more over CMOTtiddler on the pony....

Welcome Lara Kitten - to you and your Quattro which seems miraculously to have become the vehicle leading the caravan train!

Tea, I remember the bath in the flake ad - I wanted it badly too.. but at least I have the cast iron bath with claw feet now, even though the atmosphere in the bathroom is completely wrong and nowhere near big enough and the wrong colour etc etc blah-de-blah.

CAn't watch any of the youtube links without waking up menfolk so will have to leave it for now.

Easter Show was amAAAZing - I've never seen oa Show with so many cows! MrThumb and I have been to 2 or 3 in the UK and we were measuring against those (Newbury, Royal Surrey, Hampton Court) and I have to say, Sydney won on cow count. Less good on sheep and goats - more quantity than variation (none on sheep and only 3 breeds of goat). We got to see some horses and a few pigs as well so miniThumb was happy.

Having been there since 10:30am, we gave up at about 6pm - we could have stayed for the Grand Parade at 6:30, and the fireworks at 8:30/9 pm but tbh we'd had enough by then so decided to come home.

The Index of Doom is a huuuuuge weight off my mind, thank you for good wishes - now just have to wait for publication day! Am quite excited again now...

CMOTdibbler · 10/04/2010 14:55

Sydney show sounds wonderful Thumb - one of the times I was visiting I missed the Easter show by a couple of days and was gutted. Can't wait for show season to start here - I love ag shows, partly cos I spent so much time at them as a child. I think DS looks lovely on the pony, but then I would, wouldn't I

The bath is indeed a funny shape - it's described as an offset corner bath, so the wall sides aren't the same length, and it's sort of oval shaped in the main bathing area, with a seat bit into the corner. We chose it for maximum wallowing space while minimising floor space.

We've had a lovely morning in the sun here - riding lessons, then a picnic in the garden, off to the farm shop for some bbq stuff, DS has gone for a nap, and the cats are sunning themselves

DontCallMeBaby · 10/04/2010 19:30

Hello all. Just catching up with the Friday night disco.

DD and I have just come back from staying with DB and SIL for a couple of nights, with associated dog walking and being-bounced-by-puppy. Meanwhile, back at home, our cats have also been sunning themselves, and DH has been doing constructive stuff.

We seem to have an unfeasibly large champagne flute here, Amber, full to the brim. Might that meet your need? We also have several bowls of Twigletto Sorpresa.

UniS · 10/04/2010 22:30

ah ha, twiglet suprise.. where have you been all day. come here my salty snacky beauty.

Would you believe I've been at a food and drink festival all day ( and all yesterday) and I've not seen ANY ONE selling twiglet suprise.
I've been offered a few beers and ciders and glasses of wine, but have to turn them all down as not allowed to drink on duty. Tho the brewery who borrowed our sledge hammer got round that one by giving me a bottle of beer to take home, and teh vineyard did a swapsie for apple juice and.
Have had some nice pies and ice cream and lots of tasters of chocolate and muffins. Just tomorrow to do and then my working week is done. I love the smell of diesel in the morning.

Amber- SS incompetence, its nothing personal, they do it to everyone . NHS incompetence, unfortunately the same is probably true. seems most unfair to fine lad, Can you get 2nd opinion from eye hospital?

TrowelAndError · 10/04/2010 22:40

Good to see you UniS. Has it been sunny down your way? How was the takeaway beer?

Amber - Would you like a tea room deputation to (virtually) come with you while you kick butt assert Fine Lad's rights as a patient and yours as a policy holder?

UniS · 10/04/2010 22:58

Has been gflorious sunshine all weekend, I have sun burnt ( slightly) arms.
Recon ludlow food fest will go with a swing if your there with samples of twiglet suprise to share.
Poor ole Dh has had a gypy tum for last day or two and is on sole parent duty for boy all weekend. I think he got a bit bored of garden cricket today, says hes taking boy to cricket club tomorrow to watch teh game he can;t play in( coz of having boy and my not being around).
I gave Dh teh bottle of beer, thought I should as I got home last night at 9.30 and by 9.45 was in teh pub...

Morning ! Another gorgeous day here too.

Sounds like a nice event UniS. Could do with going to a food festival

DontCallMeBaby · 11/04/2010 10:56

Did I miss what Twiglet Surprise actually contains? I'm hoping the Surprise is that it contains no Twiglets, as I don't actually like them.

TrowelAndError · 11/04/2010 11:31

Morning all.

Twiglet Surprise is the Snack of Requirement and so contains whatever you require it to. The universal ingredient, though, is Twiglets but, again, this being the tea room, you will find that they taste unlike any other savoury snack of a similar name which you might have tasted and are the last word in deliciousness and palatability.

I've just had some for breakfast.

thumbwitch · 11/04/2010 11:55

DCMB - in your case the surprise can indeed be that it contains no twiglets! good plan.

In my case twiglet surprise means that they come wheatfree and have a Brie or Boursin filling. Very impressive and scrummy.

Amber, your Rude Letter sounds like a good idea - the Tea Room Posse will back you to the hilt, you can rest assured!

amberlight · 11/04/2010 14:16

Thanks!

Feeling like total cr*p. Need a hug/cup of tea/something to hide under. Ever have one of those weeks where everything just seems like too much? It's one of those.
