Goodness, we seem to have run out of space on the other one!
I shall assume that we are still in the same premises as for Tea Room Ten for the moment until wiser people tell me otherwise!!

UniS · 19/10/2009 22:59

Apart from the full time bit its what Devon already do. Round here if a child isn't starting YR they can still have 12.5 hrs funded at preschool. County council seem to think its is such a small number of children involved that its not a budget problem . IIRC you can even pull a child out of YR mid year and send them back to preschool funded.

Boy will be a Jan starter, I think he would be fine with a sept start and his current best buddies who he will go to school with are both sept starters so he will miss them for that last term at preschool.BUT the school are definite about it, March - aug birthday = Jan start.

teafortwo · 19/10/2009 23:29

Can I just offer a guessing game for inbetween serious edukashon tawk...

Today ater school we went into a shop (international shop I think most of you will know of) and the convo went as follows:

Me: Time to go!

Milk: No I want to stay here...

Me: But we have to get home to eat and sleep.

Milk: I want to sleep here...

Me: But you don't live here darling. Generally we go home to where we live to eat and then sleep.

Milk: No Mummy... (earnest look) I want to Live here...

So... keeping in mind DD is 3 can you guess which shop it was she was keen to abandon her happy home and I suspect me and Beerfortwo for to set up her own home within???

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 19/10/2009 23:34

Weeeellllll ...... I am hoping it was a breathtakingly beautiful flower shop in the most chic arrondissement. Or a book shop in the same arrondissement, specialising in first editions of Tintin. I am fearing that it was the D*sney Store!

teafortwo · 19/10/2009 23:50

No, no I wish and eeeeerrrrmmm NO - Milk doesn't know abou the Disney Store yet ha ha ha ha - evil manipulating Mummy laugh!!!!

daisy99divine · 20/10/2009 00:16

MadBad how interesting re school admissions. I am going to raise this at my serious talk later this week (but not reveal my choices)

Milk would, I think, behave like this in Gallerie Lafayette

Gym thanks for the Bolly and hope Bunnys is better

Mary looking comfy. I suddenly realised we needed Donk to sit on the priest hole and keep us safe

I am worried CMOT is still stuck at the stall at her dull conference....

Jacksmamwahahaha · 20/10/2009 01:22

Where is Donk??? Has she left us????? Why did I not notice?? [feeling bad emoticon]

I'd like to crawl into the Priest Hole, please, or at least onto a comfy sofa. My "status" for the day should read "Oh FFS, what now!! I think I have mastitis again!!" This is right after Jackbaby and I got over the stomach flu. We're still at my mum's and I would really, sincerely like to be feeling all sprightly and well (rather than feeble and sickly) because I don't like mum worrying. She has enough going on.
On the upside, we went shopping today and I was going to splurge at Esprit, only to find Mum whipping out her charge card and pipping me to the cash register . She spoils me.

amberlight · 20/10/2009 07:30

JM, oh b*m re the possible mastitis. Any better, or are you off to the docs?

OP posts:
MaryBS · 20/10/2009 07:57

Thats awful! Hope you feel better soon, and good for your mum, that she spoiled you. Will she look after you today?

I think Mellors needs to get firm with the NMBs, or at least order some more bolly (thinks that if he evicts the NMBs from the wine cellar, they'll rediscover the priest's hole).

Another busy day for me today. Firstly a funeral, which I'll take a small role in (as I did yesterday - am being shown the ropes), and then I've got a deadline to meet - I'm writing the front page article for the village magazine, and it has to be in today! And THEN I've got a PCC meeting and it sounds like its going to be a difficult one

(whimpers quietly, in the priest hole, and asks, is it morning yet, or can I stay here a bit longer?)

CMOTdibbler · 20/10/2009 08:03

JM. I'm guessing the mastitis may be related to Jackbaby not feeding properly when ill.

DS does know of the Disney store, and likes the huuuuuge screen, but not bothered about the toys.

Off to conference now. Today I am presenting a serious scientific paper, something I haven't done for a long time. Of course I very regularly do more commercial/informative presentations, and never have a moments worry about those, but have nerves about this one.

I am feeling like a Bad Mother this week. Two nights away, and a late return, combined with a busy week for DH mean that DS has a babysitter two nights this week . He loves P bringing him home from nursery, but I still feel bad

teafortwo · 20/10/2009 08:12

MaryBS - I am impressed!!!!

JM - blast and damn about the mastitis get thee to a dr sharp!!! And wahoo regards esprit... I am rather a fan of esprit myself. What did you your lovely Mum buy???? Links????

daisy - We have been to Gallerie Lafayette only once since Milk reached Toddlerdom. She whipped out her colouring pens and lent on a Hugo Boss stand mm from a very expensive white pair of trainers.... so we have never been back again - no!

The name of the shop does suggest you could set up home there....

teafortwo · 20/10/2009 08:24

CMOTdibbler - I worked full-time over July and was feeling the same as you have just described. Milk on the otherhand, like I suspect CMOTtiddler is, was too busy having a blast with her babysitter to think about it!

Maybe you could do something very special and lovely together at the weekend... something really fun to look forward to doing with your special little CMOTtiddler!

CMOTdibbler · 20/10/2009 09:49

Back on the booth now... CMottiddler is going riding again on Saturday, and his favourite friend in the whole wide world is coming to visit for the weekend and will be riding too. And hopefully, once they have left on Sunday, we will be going to a nursery friend to play and ride on her pony. So we will have a lovely time.

MaryBS · 20/10/2009 10:22

CMOTdibbler, that must surely make up for being away at the conference! Don't forget to report back how it went!

I am now EEK! I am now going to be Crucifer for the funeral, and I've been given a lot of instructions to remember, and I've never carried the cross before (which is heavy!). I'm also wearing my new lovely alb (which I also wore yesterday). Please God I don't trip... I am seriously clumsy at the best of times!

Keep the priest hole warm... will be back later!

CMOTdibbler · 20/10/2009 11:16

I'll put a flask of tea, a hot water bottle, box of pastries, and a stack of magazines of your choice in the priest hole for you

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 11:30

Eek, Jacksmama about the mastitis. But yippee to the new clothes. Please give us a virtual twirl when you're feeling better.

Has anyone seen Donk anywhere recently? A while back, she swept up her hay and said she was off and I thought she meant on a trip, but I haven't seen her since and hope that nothing bad has happened in her world.

Cmot - How's the booth? Have you done your presentation yet? If not break a leg.

Mary - Is the answer here to have sensible footwear? What is the fashion conscious priest wearing with her alb this season?

Everyone - fresh drinks and cookies are on the aga.

CMOTdibbler · 20/10/2009 11:45

I'm guessing that Donk went to Oz to see her dad, and is probably struggling with him. His prognosis was not good at all I'm afraid.

Presentation this afternoon - just fiddling with it again, and starting my presentation for the management meeting tomorrow

orangehaze · 20/10/2009 12:00

Blimey,
I've been wandering around for days trying to find you lot

Hope all is well.
I've just read a few of the other posts in "one child family" section. Blimey, it's viscous out there (but a few very good points made from Madbad and others) think I'll stick in here

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 12:08

Yes, Cmot, that was exactly my worry. Well, I'm sending her supportive vibes. Maybe she'll somehow know.

Orangehaze - Do come in. It's chilly today, isn't it? When are we going to have the Hendrix night, by the way?

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 12:09

Tea - Habitat? Or Casa (although I've only ever seen them in small towns and out of town mall-type places)?

MaryBS · 20/10/2009 12:20

Madbad, definitely sensible footwear. I bought a pair similar to these, but slightly plainer as in no straps, in the sale a couple of years ago. They are SO comfortable and ideal for such occasions!

Black Ecco shoes

I actually feel pretty good, although my arms really ache. The cross I was carrying was something like this cross, but without accompanying attendants.

Now that's over, am happy to venture out of the priest's hole and have some lunch...

Jacksmamwahahaha · 20/10/2009 12:56

Out of my way, I am in a Very Bad Mood.

Jackbaby woke up at 4 am. 4 am, FFS. An hour and a half of chewing on me and flipping himself from side to side and he was still awake. So we got up. There is only one telly in my parents' house and my stepdad was sat in the den, rattling the newspaper and giving off "fck off" vibes at me and wide-awake toddler (understandable, it wasn't yet 6 am and he is Not A Morning Person and certainly isn't used to having a little bundle of energy screeching around in the morning) so we retreated to my mum's study and played toddler computer games (Kneebouncers.com etc). Then I tried to input something in my Palm Pilot and to my utter horror, the thing crashed* and I have lost everything, but EVERYTHING, on it... which includes my patient appointments on Tuesday next when I go back to work. I am so screwed. Because... I did not synchronize it before we left for Toronto. I know better. I KNOW BETTER!!!!!
God, I could either slam my head against the wall or weep. Or both.

The only upside is that my poor left breast is feeling better.

And JB has just fallen asleep on my lap. It's 7:55 am and he's been up for 4 hours, why wouldn't he !!!!!

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 13:54

Right, Jacksmama, we need a plan. I know nothing about Palmpilots but is there anything you can do to retrieve your data? Is there a call centre you can ring? Is there anyone back at base - DH, a secretary, Maple Leaf Mellors - who could nonchalantly ring your regular patients to confirm when they're next coming in and so piece together Tuesday's schedule?

Meanwhile, have some soothing hot chocolate and waffles and here is our old friend, the rodent with unusual taste in headgear!

MaryBS · 20/10/2009 13:58

Aw, JM, how awful! I really hope against hope you can retrieve it all, somehow. Muchos sympathy from me.

amberlight · 20/10/2009 15:38

Nothing is ever really deleted. It's all still on there. It just needs a wotsit on it to find the data again. A computer whizzo might know. (note the level of technical detail in this post - remarkable, eh )

Meantime, more tea/coffee/gin, and a large slice of cake all round.

OP posts:
daisy99divine · 20/10/2009 16:09

CMOT sending good scientific vibes

JM do people come to you or you visit them? If they come to you worst thing is a long day sitting on Tuesday with some surprises. Otherwise, the data will be there. I am sure Toronto has a Palmpilot Shop for Idiots I hope you went back to bed wtih Jackbaby?

Donk warm vibes for dad wherever you are [hopeful emoticon]

Mary wow and well done
