Tea Room the Eleventh

Goodness, we seem to have run out of space on the other one!
I shall assume that we are still in the same premises as for Tea Room Ten for the moment until wiser people tell me otherwise!!

amberlight · 20/10/2009 17:38

Are they?

Well I never! Mellors, get down from that Minstrel's Gallery and get something on, man! Now is no time for a demonstration of your Double Bass and Oboe

Just dashing out but wanted to ask whether Amber had been giving Daisy lessons in the art of the double entendre, or whether it might have been the other way round?

There was certainly no oboe like that in the Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra!

Catitainahatita · 20/10/2009 18:27

Oh dear JM. You souud like you are having a bad couple of days. I wish I could offer some useful advice but am a complete technophobe. I still use a paper diary and address book. I can't even send text messages .... There is however a section on here about computer stuff, perhaps you could post a question?

Racing I went through similar agonies in June/July when Kittenito started nursery. The cries of "No, mami, no" echoed in my head all day every day I had to leave him. After a couple of days it was clear that the screams were entirely for my benefit only. Once inside he had a whale of a time. He now loves going and if it weren't for him being constantly ill, I couldn't be happier. (This week he's got a cough and a runny nose, so no seasonal flu jab for his this week, yest again). In my case the fact that neither he nor I had any choice about the arrangement helped. I simply had to put on a cheerful mammi face and pretend I didn't mind him clinging onto me or bursting into tears whenever I picked him up. Perhaps if you decided on a routine that had to be followed vis-a-vis nursery this would help.

Congratulations to Mary on all her manay bus activities. No wonder you need a rest!

Hello to everyone else and also to Donk who I hope is in a better situation than we are all imaging.

amberlight · 20/10/2009 18:42

MadBad, I cannot possibly comment on my double entendres but dh says they're a fine pair.

...."Ooo Matron".....

Sorry, but it's all got a bit "Carry On" in here! Fab!

UniS · 20/10/2009 19:18

Boinnnng.

Boinnnnng

time for bed said Zebadee.

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 19:57

Would anyone like a Pimms tonight? I've got some nice jugs here. And if anyone would like a healthy snack as part of their five a day there's a fine pair of melons.

Shove up on the sofa, please.

CMOTdibbler · 20/10/2009 20:14

I'll just get my baps out then.

Presentation went great, apart from an idiot who wanted to argue

Only popping in, as early start in the morning

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 20:21

But as Orangehaze is here, perhaps we should attempt to raise the tone and start the Hendrix theme night (episode 1).

See, they were real fruit after all. And not just a saucy innuendo.

RacingSnake · 20/10/2009 20:47

Hello all. Thank you for all advice and sympathy. Milk's maternelle sounds lovely. One of the nurseries Wriggle attends is a bit like that. It is a lovely lovely place and I just would love to be a child there.

Amber, I like the clock idea. Will discuss with them on Thurs. Can't remember if I have seen a clock!

MadBad, that info was very interesting, especially the part about being allowed to go part time and/or defer place without losing said place.

JM, as everyone says, the data is probably there somewhere, but that may not be much help. You may have to resort to ringing possible patients/clients and telling them the problem.

Much better day today anyway. Started with Wriggle singing her favourite song 'Tinkle tar een dee eye'. If only it would now finish with her going to sleep!

daisy99divine · 20/10/2009 21:00

Racing glad you are a bit cheerier, I think the clock idea was also for you and Wriggle at home so she wasn't suddenly "wrenched" from happy play to nursery time

I can see that this Tea Room of Smut has left me at a standing start - all I can do it give a Stern Look and say "Titter yea not!"

Amber it was probably Thing One and Thing Two who were looking at Mellors orchestral piece

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 21:10

Orchestral piece indeed !

I am currently watching the BBC4 programme about Cabaret. And I thought the tea room was becoming decadent ...

RacingSnake · 20/10/2009 21:17

Tea, have been pondering your special international shop to live in. Can only repeat Casa or Homebase(!) Bedz'r'uzz?

RacingSnake · 20/10/2009 21:21

Aged Parent was growing up in Berlin at that time. Hard to imagine. Could start a whole nother thread about how the rise of National Socialism seemed to a child present then, compared to how it is portrayed now.

Interesting views on (I think) Talk You and Yours about the pros and cons of starting formal education much too early.

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 20/10/2009 21:32

Yes, I only caught the end of Call You and Yours but hoped you'd been listening.

A propos children and National Socialism, did you or Aged Parent read The Book Thief?

daisy99divine · 20/10/2009 23:09

Come on Tea come back and tell us - was it Habitat?

teafortwo · 21/10/2009 00:04

Yes, yes, yes well done all

IT WAS...

HABITAT!!!!!!!!!!!

With such soft lighting and their modern yet homely looking furniture Milk was really up for living there for the rest of her life I suspect.

daisy99divine · 21/10/2009 00:52

Ha ha!
I am strangely proud I guessed right!

CMOTdibbler · 21/10/2009 06:57

Coffee anyone ? I think I am old. I just cannot get my head round the fact that at not-even-7-am people are drinking beer/wine/champagne at the airport .

I realised yesterday that all the languages that I have learnt did not include the important words. Well, important if you are 3 and realising that there are different words for things. Ds has been learning french at nursery (v nice action and song based, no pressure at all sort of thing), and so everything is 'whats that in french mummy'. I confess to never having had to name koalas, lemurs etc in french, and being at a bit of a loss. Am forced to 'ask the computer' about it all.

Habitat v nice - haven't been to one for ages, but don't blame Milk at all for wanting to stay there

teafortwo · 21/10/2009 09:16

Ha ha ha CMOT and Daisy... she loved it... she was like this:

"Oh Mummy look, chairs, lovely chairs... I like the white one best which is your faayyv-rot?"

Slight pause...

"Oh Mummy look, lights, lovely lights... I like the orange one best which is your faayyv-rot?"

And then

"Oh look, beds...." and so on and so on!!!

amberlight · 21/10/2009 09:50

Ooo, I could answer questions like that all day. In fact, I can ask them all day too .

DS got back from deepest Rome at 2am (yawn). We know little else so far, since they are now on half term and he is still fast asleep.

OP posts:
teafortwo · 21/10/2009 10:08

amberlight - ROME!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!! How fab is that??? Amberboy is a teenage boy and he is just whizzing off to Rome just like that... very good!

We are currently in the "Ohhh we should go to Rome" pondering stages. I am very keen to find out how he found it!

MaryBS · 21/10/2009 10:13

Morning all! How is everyone? Bacon sarnies are on the side! Together with tea and coffee. For those who don't want bacon, I can recommend the egg muffins!

Catitainahatita · 21/10/2009 14:59

My Mum saw her specialist today. The biopsies on the lymph nodes and the huge chuck of flesh removed from her arm are all normal and show no cancerous cells! Yippee! She needs to be kept under surveillance for a year or so, but should be absolutely fine.

They also want her to take part in a clinical trial, which sounds a bit complicated, but seems to enthuse her. So -perhaps she will come out and see us all before Christmas, perhaps not. But at least she seems happy about it.

Oh and ta for the bacon rolls Mary. The are delicious.

MaryBS · 21/10/2009 15:17

Wow, that's fantastic news Catita! I guess if she's in a clinical trial, they'll monitor her more closely, so that would be a good thing? Anyway, good news! Is it too early for a glass of bolly to celebrate?
