Welcome aboard.

The first rule of the tea room is - No fisticuffs.
The second rule is - Put the kettle on and lets have a Brew or open a bottle of Wine if its that time of day. Pull a sofa and relax. Parents of one, more (or less) children are welcome to hop on board and chat about anything and nothing. Introduce yourself if new and if you name change give us clue please.

Hi Unis! Beer and twiglets would be lovely. Thank goodness it's Friday- do you have any plans for the weekend? Is Mr Unis back?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/11/2011 21:54

I'll gladly have some Wine and twiglets.

The Girl loves Jacqueline Wilson but beware, UniS, as I know some parents Disapprove of the realism.

UniS · 18/11/2011 22:03

indeed, which is why I am reading them first as SiL does indeed disprove of a selection of things... both real and fantasy.

Mr UniS due back tomorrow, jetlagged, tired and in no fit state to be bounced by boy, so I'm giving boy a busy day out. I have an evening out with a friends booked in for me and mrUniS can stay home , put boy to bed and snooze.

Proud mum moment, boy has skipped a book band... but I did ask for a few of the missed band books so we can find out why that key is magic all of a sudden. Last week we had Chip et al, find a dolls house and a key, and then got bounced up to adventures with giants, most mysterious. TA has sent home the relevant 6 books this weekend, I think I'll get boy to read one and I'll read him one and that will do.

It's funny how quickly one forgets. It seems a century since we were in the world of book bands and Biff and bloomin' Chip!

::elderly::

beanandspud · 18/11/2011 22:21

Well done Boy! We are not yet at the reading book band stage thank goodness - all the competitive parenting fun starts next year.

I am Christmas shopping tomorrow. I am planning to leave early and have a couple of hours of peace before Small Bean and Mr Bean join me for lunch. I just need to work out what to buy for the in-laws...

Jacksmania · 18/11/2011 22:57

Ouch.
May I just report that having leg veins injected really bloody hurts? I have (actually after this morning "had" is more appropriate) a nest of nasty spider veins/blue veins on the outside of my calf that really hurt, so got them saline-injected this morning. Ouchouchouchouchouch!!!!!! The injections weren't that bad but it stings like anything now and throbs... and I have to wear butt-ugly slightly unattractive support hose for a full week. Fighting those puppies on my legs was a sight to see :o

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/11/2011 22:58

Oh dear, JM. Would some painkilling Wine help?

UniS · 18/11/2011 23:13

JM- more Wine

Unis waves to all and takes her self off to her cabin, with said book.

Am I too late for the Wine?

I have a tummy ache -- too much yummy food. I fear I have been gorging on all sorts of fabulous comfort food (had my second cheesesteak of the week today for lunch). I had weighed myself on Mom's scale at the start of the week and seem to have gained about 15-20 lbs back (since July) and I'm sure I'll put on another 5-10 this trip.

CampDirectorGrandad took Toddler to the playground of my yoof. Okay, the playground is in the location of my childhood but it's a much improved play space. Very impressed that Toddler went off with GrandadScout without MrScout or me.

Scout camp looks like a bomb has gone off and we haven't even gone Black Friday shopping yet. ACK!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/11/2011 01:56

It's Wine a gogo here, Scout.

Weight gain is good, though, isn't it? Have another cheese steak. And good for Toddler in managing that little bit of independence, going to the park with CampDirectorGrandad!

I'm up far too late, but can't drag myself away from Children in Need.

Scout19075 · 19/11/2011 02:00

Yes, weight gain good but shocked it happened so quickly! Cheesesteaks are HUGE and I've managed to polish them off in no time flat. Blush

Very glad TS went off on his own -- CampDirectors will be babysitting Black Friday. But considering we've been here less than a week and TS hasn't seen Grandad since last Thanksgiving I'm very impressed indeed.

Would you like some homemade cookies?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/11/2011 02:09

Don't worry, you're bound to burn some of it off once you're back in your UK routine. Until then, enjoy all the comfort food!

I would love a cookie. I'll take it to bed with my hot chocolate. It's 2am here, Children in Need has just finished and we've got a hectic weekend so I really must go and get some sleep. Good night!

CMOTdibbler · 19/11/2011 18:29

I retreated from CIN just after the Muppet song last night- am impressed by your stamina Maud.

Am exhausted today - had a hard riding lesson of my own, then immediatly had to run for half an hour next to ds in his lesson as it was all in trot (he's off the lead rein, but needs someone on hand)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/11/2011 23:46

I've paid for it today, though! I need to drag myself off to bed now - I've got a very good but very thick book I need to finish.

What's the latest on your hand?

UniS · 20/11/2011 19:29

eh up all.

::Unis passed round the Wine bottle and twiglets a la mode::

Busy weekend. about to settle down and watch a DVD with DH now hes back home.

CMOTdibbler · 20/11/2011 19:45

What book Maud ? I am reading a v interesting book on the 'Great Leap Forward' famine, which is a bit heavy going.

Latest on hand is that I now have a keloid scar from the elbow surgery (which didn't work) so have to have treatment on that, but the hand surgeon at the same practice as my elbow surgeon saw me and suggested that he take my case to a UK wide conference who review difficult cases, so will do that. The fun never ends ! . Counselling has helped me to deal with stuff though

Am just about to polish off the last of the trifle tiddler and I made yesterday. Am trying to tell myself that I burnt that much off running this morning

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/11/2011 19:54

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly.

Oh, that sounds grim. I did wonder whether to ask. I imagine you must be rather tired of rehearsing it all by now. Here's hoping the collective brainpower of the conference can think of something.

Wine?

CMOTdibbler · 20/11/2011 20:02

That looks really good - I may go and download that Smile

Wine sounds lovely - we spent the afternoon with the ILs and I am wiped out

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/11/2011 20:14

Yes, I think it would probably appeal to you.

::Proffers Wine and twiglets a la Russe::

beanandspud · 20/11/2011 21:19

Good evening!

:: tops up the Wineand nibbles ::

Busy weekend chez Bean. Managed to do a shed-load of Christmas shopping yesterday before meeting the boys for lunch. We had friends over last night and a birthday party for a Small Bean friend today.

DH went away this morning so I am sitting in front of the tv watching last night's Strictly and eating leftovers! Bliss!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/11/2011 21:24

I'm just about to watch Strictly, too.

::proffers popcorn::

beanandspud · 20/11/2011 21:30

Thanks Maud! Who is going tonight do you think?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/11/2011 21:31

I saw the results programme earlier, so my lips are sealed!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 20/11/2011 22:49

Well, Bean, what do you think?

UniS · 20/11/2011 22:52

HAve not seen strickly, so no spoilers from me.

have just watched " cloudy with a chance of meatballs" top silly film. enjoyed that lots.

Dh now boasting about all the fine fish he ate last week ... well, duh, he was next to the pacific ocean.
