Tearoom 25 - Benvenute a Venezia!

YOu find us this time in a glorious palazzo in Venice, near to St. Mark's square, and on the water. With gondolas and vaporetti in abundance to transport us around to the various sights etc.

The palazzo itself of course has marble floors and fabulous murano chandeliers but aside of that we have the usual distressed chintz comfy sofas, assorted animals, bishops in their corner, priesthole for emergencies and a single solitary aspidistra in a bomb-proof glass cage to protect it from the ravages of a certain Canadian.

All are welcome - drop by for a cuppa, a glass of something stronger and a chat and relax in the safe and kind surroundings here.

Cin cin! Wine

Aw boo to illnesses - have some extra blankets in the priesthole there.

Scout- I agree with Maud - when miniT was in clingy mode, he would NOT have run off to play without me, I would have been dragged with by the finger, or he would have stayed attached firmly to my knees.

added re bison joke - glad they've been banned from the gondolas!

Perhaps we should insist the bishops should keep their mitres on at all times to avoid confusion? Or would they endanger the dangly bits on the chandeliers?

Have slept too long - went to bed at 10 last night and up at 8 - my back hurts and I'm knackered!

Cioccolata calda con crema available in a large urn for those who would like it :)

I think cuddly Scout, though not sure I feel there's much of a distinction as in "clingy" suggests a behaviour you might feel a need to change and I'm not sure I would - mind you my Oxboy still sits on me/ hugs me/ hangs from me/ sleeps with his arms round my neck/ asks to be carried most of the time and he's nearly 5 yet when he is ready he rushes off and plays with the best of them....

Morning! Lovely coffee and pastries on the sideboard, love being in Italy!

Scout sure sounds like the flu. Plenty of fluids and try to rest. LCT actually fell asleep at 715 last night! I almost died of shock! But then he did have two good walks and only about 40 minutes of nap.

I was so tired yesterday I just got the bison joke. snigger

YAY For PKM's redecorating! The only redecorating that happens around here is when LCT dumps all of his toys out. Like right now. Grin

Have a lovely Saturday all!

teafortwo · 09/04/2011 08:33

WOW - I really love it here... Thanks Thumb! xxx

It is Spring holidays here. Milk woke up singing "It's holidays, holidays, hooooooliiiiidays... yip yip yipeeee" Now we have to work out what to do in these happy happy holidays!!!

purpleknittingmum · 09/04/2011 08:35

Morning!!

We don't generally do a lot in the way of decorating but moving into a new place meant it had no carpets. We are getting there, just very slowly! I think for the lounge we just need to get 2 sets of curtains but the drop required doesn't seem to be a standard one, needs to be over 54 inches but not much longer than that. Next standard drop seems to be 72 inches. Oh, eventually new sofas but for now will get 2 throws and new cushions

I think everything will be done in a couple of years! :o

Looks like a gorgeous day again here! Really missing having a garden!

teafortwo · 09/04/2011 08:43

scout - Put him infront of a mirror with lipstick on his nose. If he touches his nose he understands that he is an individual i.e not part of you (it takes a long time for human babies to 'get' this - it sinks in at toddlerdom). If he touches the mirror he hasn't got it yet! My guess is he will touch his nose.

If he understands that you and he are different people then of course he is going to be careful about keeping you near. He has just worked out who he is and that he needs and loves his Mummy who OH MY GOODNESS is an individual too!!!

amberlight · 09/04/2011 09:55

::tries the lipstick nose and mirror thing::

::wipes the fingerprint off the mirror:: Blush

Brew called for, I think

Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 10:17

ARGH! Three times I've typed and tried to post and three times my message has been eaten!

Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 10:17

GRRR, that one went through, what about my others?

Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 10:37

Tea, will try the lipstick thing. Though TS hasn't touched a mirror in a while. Yesterday he spent ages playing at the whale (shaped) mirror, doing a motion, watching himself do it and then repeating it watching in the mirror. It was facinating to watch.

A couple people at the group yesterday commented on TS's cuddles/"aawwwww" and it made me wonder. I've always thought it was cuddly because he's happy to play without me. One Grandma kept telling me that he was letting me know he was still there.

Not the best night's sleep ever but feel a bit better. Will still go to the drop-in this weekend. I've been taking paracetamol since that's the only thing I can take with my current drugs cocktail. And MrScout brought me juice and bananas. My tummy is rumbly and I feel hungry for the first time in days.

Tee, what time did LCT get up this morning? TS has been up since 6 (grrr). He didn't go to sleep until almost 8:30 so was hoping for at least 7.

Another sunny day here. I've told MrScout we need to be outside for awhile today. I feel better outside with the sun on my face but MrScout can do the chasing/playing while I sit with a drink and the sun.

Catitainahatita · 09/04/2011 16:23

Hello all: Sorry for the long absence. Mr. H has been away and Gatita has chicken pox. A recipe for stress, sleeplessness nights and not getting enough work done to justifiying MNing.
I hope you are feeling better today Scout. The same for Tee, Amber and whoeverelse is not feeling a 100%. I have flu having just recovered from a horrible throat infection that survived 3 lots of antibiotics and only died after superstrength injections. Sad
My goods news is that we are off on our hols; to Acapulco. The bad news is that the possible job offer I had seems to have disappeared at the committe stage. Mr. H has a possible hope; but we are still back to the problem of how to finance a move on one salary. Still it is an urgency: things here are not improving. All bus services to the border have been cancelled and basically it is not recommendable to travel outside the city. (We are flying on holiday rather that the usual 3 day cartrek down south for this very reason) Sad Sad

amberlight · 09/04/2011 19:11

Catita, eek and heck. Have a Wine. What a nightmare...

oxeye · 09/04/2011 19:28

Tea I love your post re lipstick. Very wise. And scout the grandma sounds wise. There's def a phase when they start to play ranging in circles round you but running back to "touch base" sounds like that and totally normal

catita sounds awful. Yes. Move. One salary or none. Hope acapulca is less stressful x

Tee2072 · 09/04/2011 19:31

Scout I had my lie in but I think MrTee said he started to wake up at 5 and MrTee convinced him to go back to sleep until nearly 7.

Catit! Yikes! I hope you get out of there soon and enjoy Acapulco. Do have some Wine

Catitainahatita · 09/04/2011 19:53

After drinking the two glasses of Wine offered, Catita performs a cross the board 10-10-10 pavement dive (as we used to term it in my youth).
What a lightweight.

Donki · 09/04/2011 20:19

Grin at UniS bison joke (and another Blush at the spelling mistake)

Catita, eek! I hope you have a good break in Acapulco at least.

Sympathy to all those with lurgies.

We have had glorious weather today. We went to collect the YD from MIL (with profuse thanks for providing childcare for a week!). On the way home we visited Belton House. The YD had a fabulous time running around the maze and playing in the adventure playground.

Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 20:32

Was going to postpone until tomorrow going to the clinic but after shooting pain in my legs and tingling/numbness in my arm I left TS with MrScout (was in the middle of giving him his dinner) and got to the doctor (given my cardiac history I don't mess about with symptoms like those). I have a nice high temperature but no signs of other infections (ears, throat, etc clear, as well as dipstick). Am to go for bloods on Monday to check my systems and keep taking paracetamol 4x a day. They said if my symptoms increase or I get new ones I'm to haul-ass to A&E asap. My face is burning but I am freezing. Struggling to eat and MrScout brought me chocolate mousse when he went for TS's milk supply (really want it but am afraid I'll open it and won't be able to eat/enjoy it). I'm in bed with cheesy tv, my laptop and Ribena and juice (not mixed together!).

This is crap.

Catita, that sounds awful. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts/prayers (if you don't mind prayers). Not sure -- what's a 10-10-10?

Has it been sunny and lovely where everyone else is? Did go out for a walk/play with TS and MrScout. Had a lovely day. Stopped at a pub for a light bite and a drink and the publican gave TS a chocolate Easter Egg (said it was a(n unannounced) promotion he was running in April -- Eggs for all children). Oh the joyous expression on TS's face and he refused to give it up for ages.

Can I have Wine despite the cocktail of drugs? And a fuzzy blanket?

Donki · 09/04/2011 20:35

Scout - You know that Tea room wine never interferes with drugs! Here's a large Wine! And a lovely fuzzy warm blanket with a hot water bottle.

It all sounds very worrying for you. I hope that you are feeling better soon.

OmShantiJack · 09/04/2011 20:41

Hi all,
just popping in to get this on my Threads I'm On. Crazy busy. Yoga teacher training this weekend. Second weekend (first one was FAB), great to see everyone again but blah, it's the anatomy portion and I don't mean to sound like a sodding cow but it's really boring because, well, anatomy... I'm pretty familiar with it :o
Also it's my birthday today (sorry, shameless :o) and lovely DH arranged for me to sleep in and then we went to brunch (the three of us and MIL), and now I have 0.02 seconds to myself before I have to head off to yoga.

Haven't really looked around this tea room, but hey, it's in Venice... I'm gonna guess it's pretty darn nice.
Have a great day everyone (also tomorrow) xxxJacks

Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 20:43

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JM!!!

Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 20:48

I think MrScout is freaked out (and it takes a lot to do so). I know I am and like MrScout it takes a lot to freak me out medically. The look on his face when I walked in the door was one of relief (think he thought they'd have to take me out in an ambulance).

Forgot about the medicinal powers of the Tea Room wine. Blush

Donki · 09/04/2011 21:06

Happy Birthday JM

Look! The NMBs have brought you a birthday cake, complete with decorative carrots! Grin

Donki · 09/04/2011 21:07
Scout19075 · 09/04/2011 21:11

Thanks Donki.

Tee2072 · 09/04/2011 21:27

Happy Birthday JM!!!

I hope you feel better soon Scout.
