Stop bringing children in dungarees and pull-ups please.

From all nursery workers everywhere.

We hate pull-ups. They sag and are a bitch to change when you have a nappy round of 15 children.

You have to take off the child's trousers and shoes to put on a new one. Some parents even have the audacity of putting socks, tight and dungarees on one child.

And don't get me started on dungarees for toilet training children who cannot take them off themselves, why do that?

Today a child who uses the toilet came in with a baby grow?! How is the child suppose to go to the toilet by themselves with a done up baby grow?

does anyone know if nurseries prefer one piece puddlesuit or a two peice? My LO will start soon at one year old.

Why don't you just ask your nursery??

You know pull ups can be ripped off rather than pulled down the legs?

But to get a new one on you have to strip the child

Kanaloa · 26/04/2023 07:45

Eh, it never bothered me that much. It is a bit annoying in the sense that it’s very hard to encourage independence when a three year old rocks up in button up dungarees with fiddly clasps and high top converse trainers. I always sent mine at that age in jogger suits and easy to wear shoes. It allows them that bit of independence. But as far as nappies go I was changing them anyway, so just thought oh well.

I’d just prefer every parent remembered a puddle suit! If you bring one you’ll have met the requirements 😂

I had a child come in tights under dungarees, jumper on top and lace up converse and, of course, the dreaded pull ups. She was only 18 months 🤦‍♀️

Surely at 18months the dungarees still have poppers up the legs for nappy changes??

You think you're being smart, but clearly you need to take their trousers off to put new ones on Hmm

Justalittlebitduckling · 26/04/2023 07:52

The dungarees my toddler wears have poppers round the bum for easy changing. Jojo Maman but get them from vinted. I’ve bought them in three different sizes now.

Willmafrockfit · 26/04/2023 07:53

yes, i remember dd's dungarees had poppers

Really isn't easy... they're a fucking pain.

WolfFoxHare · 26/04/2023 07:23

But you still need to take the trousers and shoes off to put the next pull-up on.

There's a trick where you only remove clothes from one leg then thread the loose clothing through the leg of the pull up and redress. It means you don't have to completely remove the trousers. Still a nuisance with dungarees mind.

ohhio80 · 26/04/2023 07:55

Haha I was guilty of that - my lovely childminder had to ask me to stop doing both! Dungarees (not when potty training but just in general) and pull ups!

Yeah they’re a pain - sorry I do agree.

Dungarees are adorable though. I just put them on DC in the non childminder days!

@Heroicallyfound and how do you put the new one on?

Still sounds like an utter faff...

Take off both shoes, and pull one leg down... Remove pull up (carefully as poo in PUs are dangerous!) Cleaner child. Feed a pull up through remaining trouser leg and over the foot and up, then put bare leg in and pull up leg, then pull up trousers properly and put on shoes

Compared to pull trousers down to knee, remove nappy, clean, put nappy on, pull up trousers.

No shoes removed. No feeding nappy through leggings/joggers/jeans etc

Gratedpotato · 26/04/2023 08:01

I worked in an 2-4 class one summer that jumpsuits and playsuits were really popular for girls.
These girls were all in the middle of toilet training and it was so silly. Most of them could not get it off quick enough when they needed to and almost none could properly get them back on- especially ones with spaghetti straps that never stayed uo or crisscross straps.
Normally summer is faiy easy as dresses (not really long ones) are brilliant for toilet training and changing. I was so glad when it was autumn and all the leggings, tracksuit bottoms and jumpers came back

Right lol? Mine are in pull ups and a quick change is on leg off unless poo of course but still

Most Dungarees have poppers at the bottom. I have twins and they are in pull
Ups and I honestly can't see the fuss with having dungarees and pull ups takes me seconds to change each child

Nope, parents were really into fashion so went for looks rather than ease of use!

Someo · 26/04/2023 08:20

Yes! When you have to do 15 nappies in a row you appreciate the ease.

Some dungarees had poppers at the bottom but most didn't. Was a PITA and took twice as long.

What about the baby vests? Are they a pain? When to stop using them?

Flossflower · 26/04/2023 08:41

Pull on nappies are banned in my grandchildren’s excellent nursery.

And how would you put on a fresh one? You would have to take off their trousers.

Try changing 15 kids in a row, you might change your mind.
