Stop bringing children in dungarees and pull-ups please.

From all nursery workers everywhere.

We hate pull-ups. They sag and are a bitch to change when you have a nappy round of 15 children.

You have to take off the child's trousers and shoes to put on a new one. Some parents even have the audacity of putting socks, tight and dungarees on one child.

And don't get me started on dungarees for toilet training children who cannot take them off themselves, why do that?

Today a child who uses the toilet came in with a baby grow?! How is the child suppose to go to the toilet by themselves with a done up baby grow?

Aw I’m not a nursery worker but this is good to know as mine hasn’t started yet.
also the nursery has asked we send in a puddle suit.. is a one piece or two piece easier ? My LO will start at 1….

Ballcactus · 26/04/2023 07:20

You know pull ups can be ripped off rather than pulled down the legs?

megletthesecond · 26/04/2023 07:21

I agree. Mine were out of dungarees as soon as potty training started. I can't think of anything more annoying!
I loved those dungarees, being able to hoik them back by the straps was so handy.

This, or snip up the sides with scissors!

But you still need to take the trousers and shoes off to put the next pull-up on.

Xiaoxiong · 26/04/2023 07:24

You still need to put the next pull up on which means you have to take shoes and trousers off - most nurseries you send in a stash of nappies for your child so if parents send in pull ons that's what the nursery is supposed to use.

EnFlique · 26/04/2023 07:24

I don’t work in nursery any more but you should add converse trainers to the list…so difficult to put on!!

Mouthfulofquiz · 26/04/2023 07:25

It seems so obvious so I can’t understand why parents do it!

KateyCuckoo · 26/04/2023 07:25

Lace up shoes when they can't do laces!

Kablea · 26/04/2023 07:26

We use pull ups at home, but have normal nappies for nursery. The nursery said they preferred it. Just ask the parents.

itsgettingweird · 26/04/2023 07:26

You need to learn the putting on a pull up truck of taking off one shoe and one trouser leg!

But I agree totally with your post.

doglikescheeseontoast · 26/04/2023 07:26

How are they more of a bitch than a nappy which requires the child to lie down for it to be changed?

Both my grandsons, now aged 6 and 3 so a while ago, used pull-ups - trousers off, pull-up off (either by pulling down or tearing at the sides), cleaning of child, replacing of pull-up, all without the need for child to lie down if child isn't cooperating.

Totally with you on the subject of dungarees on a potty training child though.

They lay down on mats/changing tables at childcare settings.

MissyB1 · 26/04/2023 07:30

Yes totally agree!! And as a pp said, lace up trainers especially bloody converse hi tops!! Your pre school kid doesn’t need to try and be cool or trendy, they need clothes and shoes that they can help to take on and off, or that are quick and easy for staff.

How do you get the clean one on ..

Because you need to take off their trousers and shoes completely.

A nappy can be done standing without removing clothes, just pulling trousers down to knees

HarperElla · 26/04/2023 07:31

Totally agree with this. I used pullups at home but sent ds to nursery with non pullup nappies. Dungarees at home but always joggers at nursery. They didn't ask me to do this I just used my common sense!

How does that work? You must end up doing something like feeding it through the leg of the trousers?

Stephhh87 · 26/04/2023 07:36

The only time I use pull ups is when o take my baby swimming and sometimes they are so difficult to rip off!
can’t imagine having to try and rip one off with a squirmy kid and a dirty nappy lol.
after swimming I put on a normal nappy while my LO stands.

Still sounds like too much effort 😂

and to be honest I prefer the thought of all the kids being easier for the staff to change so they can focus on other things with all the kids.

Basilthymerosemary · 26/04/2023 07:39

Well my nursery told me to use pull ups when potty training. So I do.

Willmafrockfit · 26/04/2023 07:39

you need to tell the parents at the nursery op

But the fresh one still needs to go on bare legs and bottom!

I have converse for myself but I don’t even think they are the comfiest! I’d never wear them to go walking etc so I’ll not be getting them for my LO. Also I just couldn’t be bothered with laces for my little one either 😂
I tend to do things for my LO to give them a good life but in such a way that make my life easier too. My sanity is just as important lol it makes us both happier 😆

Lalavoom · 26/04/2023 07:42

I had a child come in tights under dungarees, jumper on top and lace up converse and, of course, the dreaded pull ups. She was only 18 months 🤦‍♀️
