AHOY! LONGTIME LURKERS!

We know you’re out there and we long to welcome you into the light. If you’ve been reading the boards for a while, but haven’t quite plucked up the courage to jump into the fray - or simply haven’t been able to settle on a username from your longlist - then this is YOUR week.

We’ve created a new topic - Newbies’ corner, especially for you. We’ve updated our ‘getting started’ guidelines in your honour (and even put them into video form, to make things easier still). We’ve come up with a guide to Mumsnet’s acronyms, so you’ll be spared the embarrassment of having to ask what a BFP is, or what you’d be doing if you LTB. We’ve summarised the key things you need to know about Mumsnet in a handy infographic (click here to discover exactly how many teabags we get through a week in MNHQ), and gathered the most legendary threads in the site’s history in one place, so you can do your background reading.

We've got a clutch of offers available exclusively to de-lurked MNers - and as if all that isn’t enough, we’re also offering spot prizes to those of you who make their your first post this week. Yes, really! So if you want to be in the running for

-two pairs of Kickers and £100 vouchers from <a class="break-all" href="http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=185523&wgprogramid=10431&clickref=competitionthread&wgtarget=www.tower-london.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Tower London

among many other prizes, get posting now.

And! We'll be awarding all stalwarts who extend the hand of friendship to newbies with your very own halo emoji, to say thanks Halo

So come on folks, don't be shy: venture on below and tell us what you think of MN, and we'll pop your name into the lurkers' hat to win some fab goodies. Happy posting! MNHQ Flowers

Hello everyone :-)

I've actually been lurking and trying to pick up tips for the past 8 months or so when I first found out I was pregnant. Mumsnet apparently comes up on top on Google searches.

I found reading the information on Mumsnet a bit easier and more helpful from other people in similar situations than ask around. As I have absolutely no friends who happen to be pregant or in the same boat it was very hard ! I am now 39 weeks and 6 days into my first pregnancy. My due dates on the 30th March 2016. So not long. I hope.

My community Midwife is lovely but they are so busy these days and cannot answer all the questions.

Happy to have found Mumsnet and hope to post a lot here :)

Sof

Finally i am logged in and able to post after million failed attempts! My phone wasnt allowing me to sign up for several months so finally got my pc on ! ( you do continue to have an error message that doesnt allow me to add details of my children)

So i have been lurking for nearly 7 months! All those late night 2am night for the past 5 months i could only sit and lurk!

Ive made it into such a habit my daughter is sleeping yet im still awake! After this 2am ball mark i am awake until 6am before i have an 1 hr power nap. So as u can imagine I was very frustrated with my phone and the site. Angry

But thankfully i am online now and i dont know what else to write. Trying to catch up on the mums net speak!

So here is my 1st ever entry!

Kimmyb100 · 05/04/2016 16:28

Hi
I have literally just joined today, and feel a bit of a fraud really as my children are all grown up and in their 30s but I'm a nanny and I am just loving it, but feel a bit out of touch.
I found mums net when searching for all sorts of things from childrens rashes, nits and recipes and felt quite jealous and left out so here I am.
Hope I can add some worthwhile input into your fabulous site
Kim xx

mumOFtweens · 05/04/2016 16:41

Hello all! I'm also a newbie joined today! I'd been a long time reader and finally took the plunge. Is it shameless to add that I've just posted my first thread (!) It's about an issue I'm seeing with mobile devices. I posted in Internet Safety. Not sure how to link to it directly but the title is: 'Mobile device and online safety monitoring access to content on phones/tablets' Please chime in -- would love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have :)

JDSTER · 05/04/2016 21:49

I've been a lurker for a while too. I've been meaning to post for a while but never quite got round to it so I'm glad to have found newbies corner

soitis · 06/04/2016 09:05

Hi! long term lurker here - have just registered as I need some advice - and I reckon this is the place to get it! Have been lurking on mumsnet since maternity leave - my DS is nearly 6!! Love the advice - and laughs!!

SMITH2001 · 06/04/2016 12:33

Hiya I'm new, Been lurking for about a year

CoolCarrie · 06/04/2016 19:14

Thank you for the welcome, RebeccaMumsnet! I am a long time lurker, but have more time, at the moment add my twopennyworth to the interesting threads and enjoy the funny stories shared. Great to feel that so many other women feel the same way I do about so many things, and also to see other viewpoints.

CoolCarrie · 06/04/2016 19:35

Good luck Sofie565 !

TimerousBeastie · 07/04/2016 12:49

kaytford · 07/04/2016 13:30

I have been lurking for SOOO long, from Singapore in fact and now back in the UK so thought I would come out of hiding. Hi everyone!

CampWilderness · 07/04/2016 16:41

Hi there!

Suzanneloulou123 · 07/04/2016 17:31

At the dentist today I requested a numbing oitment to be put on my gums before the injection I didn't even think it was safe in pregnancy. Does any one have any advice? Thanks Suzanne

Suzanneloulou123 · 07/04/2016 17:34

Hi sorry posted in the wrong section x

HiraAli · 08/04/2016 13:38

Hello mommies! Hope everyone is well :) We are moving to London in July and and we are looking for good private or public schools in St John's Wood and adjoining areas. So far I feel all the schools are oversubscribed and have a long waiting. I am very nervous. Do you think getting a place in any of the good schools is even a possibility if I apply now for admission for my son in year 1, starting? September 2016 Confused

MrsOriginalBear · 08/04/2016 20:24

Second ever post ... jumped the gun and posted a question on we chat - Reading Festival or Not? Have been lurking for years ... And searched reviews and threads for info. Always really useful. Finally taken plunge. Grin

RachelPz · 09/04/2016 21:26

Long time lurker, finally joined! Mother to two girls xx

Fingersxed · 10/04/2016 07:53

Hi, I'm 9 weeks pregnant today and I've been reading the blog for a while as we tried to conceive. I've had a few complications over the last couple of weeks and have been using your threads for support. Reading others stories and advice has helped me lots but have only just gained the courage to post Blush. Now to gen up on acronyms I'm sure I should have used one somewhere here! My thanks for your posts they have really helped.
