AHOY! LONGTIME LURKERS!

We know you’re out there and we long to welcome you into the light. If you’ve been reading the boards for a while, but haven’t quite plucked up the courage to jump into the fray - or simply haven’t been able to settle on a username from your longlist - then this is YOUR week.

We’ve created a new topic - Newbies’ corner, especially for you. We’ve updated our ‘getting started’ guidelines in your honour (and even put them into video form, to make things easier still). We’ve come up with a guide to Mumsnet’s acronyms, so you’ll be spared the embarrassment of having to ask what a BFP is, or what you’d be doing if you LTB. We’ve summarised the key things you need to know about Mumsnet in a handy infographic (click here to discover exactly how many teabags we get through a week in MNHQ), and gathered the most legendary threads in the site’s history in one place, so you can do your background reading.

We've got a clutch of offers available exclusively to de-lurked MNers - and as if all that isn’t enough, we’re also offering spot prizes to those of you who make their your first post this week. Yes, really! So if you want to be in the running for

-two pairs of Kickers and £100 vouchers from <a class="break-all" href="http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=185523&wgprogramid=10431&clickref=competitionthread&wgtarget=www.tower-london.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Tower London

among many other prizes, get posting now.

And! We'll be awarding all stalwarts who extend the hand of friendship to newbies with your very own halo emoji, to say thanks Halo

So come on folks, don't be shy: venture on below and tell us what you think of MN, and we'll pop your name into the lurkers' hat to win some fab goodies. Happy posting! MNHQ Flowers

Hi all,

This is my first EVER post! We found out we are expecting our first baby two weeks ago and I only signed up to MN yesterday night. I have been lurking for months (if not years!) though. Smile

MrsMimmy · 10/04/2016 13:13

Hello you wonderful, wonderful peeps! I've finally removed myself from Lurkdom and entered the light! (It was the post about making pancakes etc in a sandwich toaster that did it 😉)

Hi, another newby, watch lots of threads and of course could not post any views, plus not too sure about what the acronyms were, great site by the way x

Jencally · 13/04/2016 09:03

Hello, I've been reading old mums net threads on Google searches for advice, hints and tips for years but only just figured out it would be best to join. I have 3 children 6,3 and 6 months. Looking forward to being more involved and learning the abbreviations will solve a lot of mysteries!

Ajr123 · 13/04/2016 10:52

Just joined and my first post...... Looking for advice on nursery advise for 1 year old in Canary Wharf! Any reviews on Little Unicorn?!

QueenieClarke · 13/04/2016 18:30

Hello!
Just checking in with my first post! Love 'The Winter's Tale' also. Was disappointed with the Kenneth Branagh production though (saw a live screening at a local Curzon before the lo came along!). Have you literary ladies indulged in some of the Baby Lit books yet?

QueenieClarke · 13/04/2016 18:34

Anyone had any experience of Colic-Ease Gripe water? Looking for a Gripe Water without sorbitol, alcohol or sodium bicarbonate but I've never heard of this brand before.

Dsmummy · 14/04/2016 08:29

HiSmileim new, I was googling advice and thought it would make sense to sign up. I am 35, have a 17 month old and been ttc for 4 months. So hi to everyone Smile

Anniefluff790 · 14/04/2016 12:51

Definite lurker here. Love the daily emails, and there have been some hilarious threads that have had me spitting out my tea. Very ladylike! Blush

I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant and this is keeping me entertained, making sure I sit down at some point during the day, otherwise I spend the entire day cleaning without even realising. I think I have a problem.

Anyway, I love the site. It makes me feel like I'm not alone and there is so much advice, I no longer purely depend on google I really am hopeless

ProtegoMaxima · 15/04/2016 09:16

Hi everyone! After stumbling across a MN thread following a Google search, I have spent longer than I would like to admit a while quietly reading various threads here without actually signing up! Decided to jump in and do it this morning as I am currently TTC and think that this month it might actually have happened Grin will be testing at the weekend (when DP is home) so thought that I should make the transition from lurker to poster, as any daft questions/concerns I might end up having, I know I can ask here without having to worry about looking like a slightly obsessed mad woman! (Suffered a MC at 13 weeks just over a year ago so I know that I will be a paranoid mess when I do finally become pregnant again!)

swannyandboo · 15/04/2016 16:20

Hi everyone,

I'm newish to MN. I joined back in 2011 when I had my son but drifted out again. I've just been accepted as a MN Blogger, so I'm looking forward to hopefully getting some posts featured there and generally having a chat with other mumsnetters. I'm 33 with a 5 year old son and an 11 year old stepson and I live in Surrey xx

Silverbabe · 18/04/2016 19:23

Hello Ladies! I have found that I often skulk around your threads, looking for info on things domestic mostly. Recently looking for info on floor mops (I know, I know, terminally boring, but.....) and I thought why not join? I am a Mum, albeit a few decades ago (ahem). I love cooking, (hate cleaning, hence the search for anything which will lighten the load) my husband, my home, gardening, learning the piano, want to resume art when I retire (pleeeaase soon?), dogs, cats, horses and of course kids! Have 2 grown up plus 2 grandkids. 3 step children plus 3 step grandchildren.

rovers1883 · 18/04/2016 20:30

Hello! I'm new but I've been lurking for a while now Smile
I'm 23 weeks preggers, work in health care and have a hubby who's self employed.

I'm getting on mumsnet to make some new buddies and read threads all night when I can't sleep Grin

emergingpurpose · 21/04/2016 07:23

Are Dads allowed to post on here? Just wondering.... If not, I'll make myself scarce! Smile

kittimon88 · 21/04/2016 11:11

Hi All

I just joined to the world of mumsnet today, been using the app on my iphone to record sleep and feed patterns of my newborn for the past 6 weeks.
I am here to look at how l can get on a chat forum discussing baby modelling agencies, can anyone help?

Thanks

Monica

Arecla · 21/04/2016 16:14

Hi Everyone. I have been lurking on mumsnet for a while, reading with interest all the different posts. I am a mum of 2 grown up children and a granny to a wonderful grandson. The topics on this site are very interesting and in many cases the advice given is very helpful. I think I have already learned a few things. The abbreviations and acronyms I struggle with but I am sure I will pick it all up in time. Thank you for having me here...
