AHOY! LONGTIME LURKERS!

We know you’re out there and we long to welcome you into the light. If you’ve been reading the boards for a while, but haven’t quite plucked up the courage to jump into the fray - or simply haven’t been able to settle on a username from your longlist - then this is YOUR week.

We’ve created a new topic - Newbies’ corner, especially for you. We’ve updated our ‘getting started’ guidelines in your honour (and even put them into video form, to make things easier still). We’ve come up with a guide to Mumsnet’s acronyms, so you’ll be spared the embarrassment of having to ask what a BFP is, or what you’d be doing if you LTB. We’ve summarised the key things you need to know about Mumsnet in a handy infographic (click here to discover exactly how many teabags we get through a week in MNHQ), and gathered the most legendary threads in the site’s history in one place, so you can do your background reading.

We've got a clutch of offers available exclusively to de-lurked MNers - and as if all that isn’t enough, we’re also offering spot prizes to those of you who make their your first post this week. Yes, really! So if you want to be in the running for

-two pairs of Kickers and £100 vouchers from <a class="break-all" href="http://track.webgains.com/click.html?wgcampaignid=185523&wgprogramid=10431&clickref=competitionthread&wgtarget=www.tower-london.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Tower London

among many other prizes, get posting now.

And! We'll be awarding all stalwarts who extend the hand of friendship to newbies with your very own halo emoji, to say thanks Halo

So come on folks, don't be shy: venture on below and tell us what you think of MN, and we'll pop your name into the lurkers' hat to win some fab goodies. Happy posting! MNHQ Flowers

Halo I have one too! I'll just have to make sure I don't let it slip haha

GingerJelly99 · 14/03/2016 16:44

I've been a lurker for years! Threads seem to move so fast that I don't feel quick enough to post on them.

I love reading threads about a TV programme I'm watching so I'll watch The Voice or SCD for example but follow the thread at the same time giggling away with the posters but never feeling confident enough to join in.

I'll see how I get on this week!

SoupDragon · 14/03/2016 16:46

I'm a newbie lurker. I have never ever posted before. Honest. Halo

FeelingSmurfy · 14/03/2016 17:02

Jump right in Smile so many people on here that I have no clue who is a regular or not anyway

Skittlesss · 14/03/2016 17:07

I joined recently and have started making posts this week, but do get shocked by some people on aibu as they can be scary. Haha

I'm a recent lurker- I'm starting to learn the mn speak! I tend to lurk in AIBU, _Chat and Mumsnet Classics.

I do feel a little left out though due to the lack of my childbearing duties- that day will come one day.. Maybe Wink

Thornrose · 14/03/2016 17:39

There's a halo? Shock

Chapsie · 14/03/2016 17:49

Hello newbie lurkers. Hope to 'see you around'. I remember my first post well - I wanted advice on whether drooling during pregnancy sleep was normal ! Smile

NipperDaNoodle · 14/03/2016 18:10

I've finally registered Smile. I've been lurking for years.

redcheck · 14/03/2016 18:11
Halo

Welcome one and all!

BrewCakeFlowers

Stargirl84 · 14/03/2016 18:29

I'm new! But not really, have lurked for years, particularly on the conception and pregnancy boards. Also LOVE the mumsnet blogs page - some great writing out there.

coffeeisnectar · 14/03/2016 18:31

[Halo] oooh!! Check out my halo!! I shall polish it immediately :o

coffeeisnectar · 14/03/2016 18:32

Halo fail!!

Halo
CakeUpWall · 14/03/2016 18:40

Welcome NM escapees newbies and lurkers. We're all really nice here, honest. Halo

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 14/03/2016 18:43

Welcome newbies! MN is a great place so don't be afraid to get stuck in - there are all sorts of folks here, so if you don't click with everyone don't take it personally!

Dip your toe into Chat to get started, find a topic you have a personal interest in and off you go Grin

IndianaJone · 14/03/2016 19:15

I'm mostly a lurker since 2008 but have posted a few times recently. Hello all!

Gingerella88 · 14/03/2016 19:18

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while, since before I got preggers - when I became first broody actually I came on here to look up tips! And now I'm expecting my first, very exciting. I think I'm up to speed with the acronyms and things, gets a bit scary on here sometimes though!!

OhGoToSleepPLEASE · 14/03/2016 19:30

Ah I'm all pleased with a Halo
I have posted on a couple of things but must say, anything I've posted I have felt very nervous. Stuck to topics I shouldn't get flamed for Grin
I love to have a nosy through all the threads, it's certainly made me think about some topics & see things differently over the three or four weeks I've been around.

Hello to you all Brew

PinkBuffalo · 14/03/2016 19:30

Not a mum (auntie to lots though!), but sometimes look in. Some good advice on here sometimes, for everyone Smile

PM10 · 14/03/2016 20:13

Thanks, gruffaloshmuffalo! You make some very good points - I might have to take back my angry face! Glad to see there's lots of wise ladies posting here!

ItsInTheDogsMouth · 14/03/2016 20:58

This is a good idea to entice us lurkers in. First time post for me, been lurking since reading the 'booble plate' thread in classics, just knew i'd found my people after reading that! Although i find the AIBU threads a bit scary at times.

SomethingOfTheNight · 14/03/2016 21:11

I'm mostly a lurker too. I've posted on the Christmas bargain threads but not much else.

I was desperate for the shiny halo though! Halo

MrsBucket0 · 14/03/2016 21:24

Hello all,
This is my first post but I've been lurking for a while, I have even used SoupDragon's flapjack recipe - yum!

Quincesorbet · 14/03/2016 21:48

I have just joined after lurking for 4 years! Found mumsnet when I googled "how to tell if your husband is having an affair". Started following threads on the relationship boards, moved onto separation/divorce, then credit crunch, followed by property/diy when I was moving house - now back to relationships and the dating thread!
