Who is yours? Your top rock god.

When you think of rock/metal who do you picture? Jimi Hendrix,Freddie Mercury,Ozzy,Mick Jagger etc. Not that it's restricted to singers of course.

Curly hair is awesome. Nothing wrong with it.Though I suppose a Robert Plant comparison isn't exactly what one wants to hear at that age.

Not if you're a girl, no. Sadly I still look like him (like he looks now).

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 22:46

Well he still has great hair so it could be worse.

Speaking of Mr Plant I'm listening to The Immigrant song at the moment.

Aaaahhhh ah aaaaah ah aaaaaaahh ah. We come from the land of the ice and snow. From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. Love that song.

Any YOUNG rock gods anyone or does rock-goddom only come with age?

TigerDrivesAgain · 24/09/2009 22:50

Immigrant Song - yessss, used to be my ringtone, supplanted (pardon the pun) by the Boys are Back in Town.

Hey, how about Phil Lynott for a super cool rock god??

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 22:51

Oh yes he's most definitely a rock god.

opinionatedmother · 24/09/2009 22:52

yes they are good things. but those would him actually make him someone liveable -with, so actually something obtainable (thirty years ago) and thereofre i'd have to fel bad about not having him,

wheras Morrison, i am probably best off without. just like the rest of woman kind.

love the Doors music though.

Dalrymps · 24/09/2009 22:53

I beg to differ, Job Bon Jovi certainly is a rock god and still sells out on tours the same as all the biggies!

TigerDrivesAgain · 24/09/2009 22:56

The young ones just seem a bit too cute, or a bit bobbly hat wearing. I fear this is me not them though. They don't bestride the stage like they used to.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 22:56

The Wiggles sell out on tours too.

I've yet to hear of any recent rock band that I'd consider to be on a par with the greats. They're nowhere near it. Not even fit to roadie for them.

What about Kings Of Leon?
I love them

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 23:00

They don't do a thing for me.

HeadbangingWombat

Try the Gaslight Anthem. Very cool, fairly young, cute lead singer, great songs in a tribute to early Bruce Springsteen sort of way. Not on a par with the greats, obviously but....

However, not a rock god in the true sense of the word.

Dalrymps · 24/09/2009 23:03

Not a big fan of the Wiggles myself but eachto their own

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 23:04

I'll give them a try.

Personally I think the days of the giants are almost over. There's no one worthy enough to pass the torch to.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 23:06

Surely you can't say that Bon Jovi is up there with Robert Plant,Jimi Hendrix,Angus Young,David Gilmour,Roger Daltrey, Phil Lynott etc?

Sir Alice of Cooper. Ok, so he's not a Sir, but he ought to be. For services to Rock. And for making giant noses and running mascara sexy as fuck.

My parents went to see him perform 2 years ago. My sister and I were seething that we weren't invited--it was them who got us hooked on Alice Cooper and all we got was a -lousy actually quite awesome t-shirt each.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 23:19

I love Alice. He's in as far as I'm concerned.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 24/09/2009 23:58
