Who is yours? Your top rock god.

When you think of rock/metal who do you picture? Jimi Hendrix,Freddie Mercury,Ozzy,Mick Jagger etc. Not that it's restricted to singers of course.

Sweet. But ironing tea/bath towels and underwear is wrong IMHO.

Flea, yeah, bass player dude!

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 23:26

I wouldn't dream of ironing either three, but then I iron as little as possible. Clothes crease as soon as you put them on anyway.

I never iron.

Ever.

LyraSilvertongue · 28/09/2009 11:16

I don't iron either littlewhitewolf. Life's too short.
How did this thread go from rock Gods to ironing?

AphroditeRocks · 28/09/2009 11:34

I was thinking the very same myself, LyraSilvertongue.
Time to get back to the Heavy Metal Totty, ladies

TheHeadbangingWombat · 28/09/2009 16:29

Tony Iommi is a rock god of course.

And if you injured yourself by some rock goddess related means you could always call Dave Lee Roth to come and rescue you!

Bellared · 28/09/2009 20:16

LOL is anyone watching Bizarre ER? Iommi has just been mentioned with his amputated fingers.

LittleWhiteWolf · 28/09/2009 21:47

I've started to talk all things rock with everyone I meet at the moment thanks to this thread.

My mum was quite bemused but as soon as I mentioned Alice she went off into a happy place in her head.

Having spoken with DH on this he wants me to add David Draiman of Disturbed and I have to agree. While not a rock GOD such as Alice or Gene (in spite of the ego...) I would add David as some form of demi-god.

Hey if we have Gods and demi-gods, does that mean some of the younger generation of rock scions are angels? Is this were we'd put Gerard Way or Patrick Stumpf?
Is this just my way of outing myself as a closet MCR fan and a lover of Fall Out Boy?

Perhaps...

Bellared · 28/09/2009 22:12

I've con(in)sulted DH on this too and he suggested Eddie Van Halen cos he was one of the innovators of the time guitar wise.

Why not have the younger ones? They should in a good few years time be talked about in the same way.

I saw Draiman on Cribs a few months ago and he didn't come across as arrogant as what I perceive him to be.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 28/09/2009 23:05

Emphasis on a few years in time. There aren't many, any actually but then I am choosy, young bands who are worthy of the name right now imho.

I wonder if Ozzy and Lemmy will be preserved in a few decades time when we're drawing our pensions?

I have noticed that far less metal now is being played than say 5-10 years ago. WTF is going on? They're saving it for after midnight now.

LittleWhiteWolf · 30/09/2009 15:25

Ok, I'm ashamed of myself. Can't believe I forgot to mention The Dave that is Grohl. One of the nicest men in rock and he's both historic and current.
Can't remember if anyones mentioned him yet so there he is in all his glory on the list.

Bellared you are so right about the lack of rock being played these days. Its shocking. Yet the amount of hip hop and R'n'B keeps rising. I've nothing against said music, but when its the only thing on the radio and makes you feel like your down a nightclub when you're really just driving the car to tescos for the weekly shop it really is too much!

LyraSilvertongue · 30/09/2009 16:25

That's why I listen to XFM or Absolute radio - dedicated rock stations. Both stations are London-based I think but you can get XFM in Manchester too I believe.

Bellared · 02/10/2009 21:34

Hi Lyra, yeah you can get it in Manchester but its more Indie-fied. You can get Absolute on DAB so thats not so bad.

Hi LLW, have you noticed that on Scuzz the other channels (Kiss, 4Music and the like) have been advertising on there, do they allow Scuzz to advertise on theirs?
