Who is yours? Your top rock god.

When you think of rock/metal who do you picture? Jimi Hendrix,Freddie Mercury,Ozzy,Mick Jagger etc. Not that it's restricted to singers of course.

And no Jim Morrison was not 'The' rock god. He isn't mine. Never will be so there!

And rock gods don't have to be pretty. That isn't what being a rock god is all about.

Sorry, it was about this time last night.

And drummers seem to get forgotten behind their kit.

Some of Apocalyptica are OK.

Jason Newstead from Metallica.

LOL @ Josh Homme and Irish Rugby.

bellared - i played bass in sugarcoma. we toured with soil in 2002 0r 2003 can't quite remember...

Bellared · 27/09/2009 21:54

Ahh, I'll look up some on Youtube. I thought you were someone else at first when you mentioned you played bass and your age. I think I have heard of them.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 21:56

Well as for drummers I've included Phil Rudd, under rest of AC/DC and Roger Taylor, under Queen.

I find that it's often the bassists who are ignored.

Because of this thread I was 'singing' The Immigrant song to 11 week old DD. She loves it.
I can add that to her fave songs which include Back in Black and Sex on Fire.
Can we include the Kings of Leon as a current and admittedly mainstream rock band? Or has this been discussed already?

And I applaud the addition of Queen (minus John Deacon who really does look like a moody old git in every image you see of him)
Ah, Freddie. How I wept at Only The Good Die Young when I watched We Will Rock You.
Ah, Roger Taylor...those cheekbones and that long and wavy golden hair.
Ah Brian May...those fingers and how they played on that fretboard...

Is it indecent to love Queen so much (in such a sexual way!) when I was only 6 when Freddie died???

Still love Alice bestest!

Jux · 27/09/2009 22:02

Keith Richards. Bloody lovely. I want his hair.

Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:03

Rob Trujilo the new one from Metallica, I couldn't remember his name yesterday.

Wombat, would you include Gene Simmons?

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 22:04

Well KOL wouldn't go on my list and won't be going on it anytime soon but you're of course welcome to add them to yours.

And nothing wrong with fantasising about Queen, particuarly Roger Taylor who was indeed bloody gorgeous. I feel the same way about many rock stars who are twice my age.

Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:05

No LWW, it's not indecent. I was 10 when he died.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 22:06

Well I suppose Gene Simmons counts. Not sure if I'd put him on my list though but I guess he does count, even if he is rather obnoxious with a massive ego.

OP posts:
Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:08

He needs a postcode on his ego.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 22:10

LOL.He does. I find big egos a real turn off.

OP posts:
Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:13

They are. Its all 'me, me, me and me' You'd fall asleep after a bit with all the yakking.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 22:15

Precisely.Arrogance is not an appealing trait.

OP posts:
Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:18

Nah, not even in a rock god. Not saying that we all want pediures and ironing in one though. Arrogance and 3 day+ BO are a no no.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 22:36

Well ironing would be good. I hate ironing.

OP posts:
Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:38

I like it.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 22:43

No don't run away! Do mine please!

OP posts:
Bellared · 27/09/2009 22:48

If you cook my tea and make me a cup of one I will.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/09/2009 23:05

Matthew Bellamy (Muse)
James Hetfield (Metallica)
Chris Cornell( soundgarden)
Mike Patton (Faith No More)
Axl Rose (GnR)

LyraSilvertongue · 27/09/2009 23:06

And of course the late, great Kurt Cobain.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/09/2009 23:08

Oh, and Anthony Kiedis and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

TheHeadbangingWombat · 27/09/2009 23:08

It's a deal. I enjoy cooking but not ironing.
