sad song - aurevoir simone

asicsgirl · 08/06/2008 10:14

ooh that's good.

it's a bit stereolabby in a weird way... or is that just my lack of sleep?

'rock lobster' is scarily like the original. would like to see them do 'dance this mess around'... are you a b-52s fan? should have put them in my original list

hey OMDB just wanted to say thanks for recommending Death Cab for Cutie-tis fab.

CatIsSleepy · 10/06/2008 21:29

actually asicsgirl-you might want to try LastFm. Find an artist you like on there, and it will find you lots of similar ones. A good way to find new stuff.

asicsgirl · 14/06/2008 13:37

ooh thanks cat - i was going to ask if anyone had tried the music preference sites - i remember reading an article about them but couldn't remember what any were called!

Hey asicsgirl - have been trying to alert you to a Stereolab thing...look out for a thread with your name on it !

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/06/2008 14:20

I'll put it here, to save you looking !here

cyteen · 15/06/2008 15:42

A few more suggestions (not necessarily new, but hey, they're still good):

Giant Drag

Asobi Seksu

The Concretes

Super Chron Flight Brothers

Dalek

DJ Format ft Abdominal

Battle of Mice

Blonde Redhead

I'll come back if I think of any more...

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/06/2008 20:54

How about Camera Obscura?

asicsgirl · 05/07/2008 19:10

cyteen thanks!! sorry it took me ages to get round to listening to all these... i didn't know any of them, thanks!

giant drag- yes i get this - like some of the other tracks better e.g. slayer

asobi - bit jangly and cute for me atm tho' i loved this sort of thing in me yoof...

concretes - kind of like flatmates with more chords! (meant as a compliment)

super chron/ dalek - yes will listen to more of this

dj format - ooh yes! used to love tone loc and del tha funkee homosapien and there's a little tiny bit of that in this, no?

battle of mice - argh no! help! rather earnest aren't they? or is it tongue in cheek??

blonde rh - again didn't like this track but like some others e.g. top ranking

thanks again!!

maryann - like the camera obscura. reminds me of everything but the girl, or is that just because the singer looks like tracey thorn? love the video too... cheers me dear
