fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:28

did you listen to the grandaddy?

What's your other thread OMDB? I feel like I should support you in gratitude for introducing me to Death cab for cutie...
(Am downloading as we speak...)

skidoodle · 06/06/2008 21:31

allergic to the Fall?

a tricky customer I see.

Low? I've rediscovered Trust recently, but Things We Lost in the Fire is ace and the best thing is the EP with Two Step on it.

Have you heard the new Portishead album? I haven't but apparently it's great.

All I get to listen to these days is reggae as it's my 11 week old DD's absolute favourite - babies love rocksteady.

OverMyDeadBody · 06/06/2008 21:32

yep liked grandaddy, sounded familiar.

here's the other thread. Would appreciate any advice!

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:33

ah OMDB - is it your creepy 'friend' thread?

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:33

lol x-posts.

er, advice? run for the hills.....!

northernsoul · 06/06/2008 21:34

Another gem who i've recently discovered is Bon Iver..guy splits up with his band takes hisself off to a remote log cabin in wisconsin for 3 months and ends up making an album and the result is For Emma forever ago. One of the best things i've heard in a long time and i do listen to a ridiculous amount of music

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:40

I presume we all like Nick Drake as a matter of course??

northernsoul · 06/06/2008 21:42

I watched him support Iron and Wine the other week..i was rooted to the spot gobsmacked..its good to spread on the gospel

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:46

ohhhh! I was t5rying to find a Youtube link for Iron and Wine for this lot but failed...I adore Irona dn Wine

northernsoul · 06/06/2008 21:46

Nick Drake one of the best musicians we've ever produced..so sad he didnt get to experience the adulation. Recently finished his biography..made me hear his music with different ears

OverMyDeadBody · 06/06/2008 21:48

yes Nick Drake is godlike in the OMDB household (I sent an email to creepy guy by the way!)

Northernsoul thank you for introducing me to Bon Iver, by jove he's good!

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:48

did you ever see that beautiful documentary on him> so sad.

northernsoul · 06/06/2008 21:48

Oh full it was one of those gigs which stays with you for a long time..brilliant

OverMyDeadBody · 06/06/2008 21:49

Bon Iver is a bit nick Drakey isn't it. Good stuff.

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:49

full sounds wierd, fmf if you please

fullmoonfiend · 06/06/2008 21:53

very much in the bon iver vibe, have you seen the film Once?

this song is sublime

Hmmm, come on rather a long way from the OP haven't we?

northernsoul · 06/06/2008 21:53

Yes saw the documentary, i had no idea he was so tormented..so sad..never got that sense listening to his music until i knew his background then understood his lyrics more.
I guess depression in the 70's was little understood.
