Great song openings

I've just had my Spotify wrap of 2024 and my most listened to song is Too Shy by Kajagoogoo. Don't judge me!

The reason I listen to it a lot is the opening. I think it's a fab opening. Better than the rest of the song.

Which songs do you think have openings that are awesome and maybe overshadow the rest of the song?

Quite like the opening of Xanadu really. But then again I like quite a lot of the starts of ELO songs. Pretty simple in the big scheme of things but they seem to make an impact on me. Maybe it's more of a trigger of pleasant memories of what's coming next rather than the intro itself??

Interestingly I had people in my top 10 I've never heard of. It's a bit of an odd year for sure. My top three were Taylor Swift, Skerryvore and Gabriel Faure (classical) but I don't remember listening to him at all!
