Hi, hope your Jogglers have arrived safely. Once you've had the chance to get them set up and had a play, please can you post your feedback to these questions from O2:

  1. Did you find it easy to set up?
  1. What worked best for you?
  1. Would you recommend it to a friend?
  1. Do you think it's good value for money
  1. Would you like to see any additions?
  1. How would you use it to organise your family life?
  1. Anything else you'd like to add?

And the latest on the webchats is that they'll now take place between 1-2pm (not 7pm) on Weds 10 June and Weds 1 July on www.mum-e.co.uk, but as usual if you can't make it on the day you can leave your questions/feedback in advance and the Joggler team will answer them/respond between 1-2pm.

We'll post the urls of the chats as soon as we have them.

Happy Joggling,

MNHQ

I'm still somewhat behind on this as O2 still haven't sorted out my calendar function, despite me emailing them about it a fortnight ago - still chasing them. So I can't use the calendar on the joggler.

Am in a meeting tomorrow afternoon so here's what I would have said:

  1. How did you find setting it up? Very easy apart from some technical issues with my online account calendar which O2 are looking into (very slowly indeed and not satisfactory in terms of time lapsed).
  1. Are you finding it useful? And why? Is it helping to organise your family life? I love it, I enjoy the photo function, the traffic for longer journeys although local traffic would be useful. I like the weather function too, but 5 days would be better as would a quick navigation choice for other areas.
  1. Do you think it?s good value for money? (It?s £149.99 or free if you take one instead of a phone upgrade.)
Difficult, bit too expensive really, £99 would have been a better price especially since it is a good hook to get people to transfer the whole family to o2 to use full facilities.
  1. Do you think O2 could do anything to make the O2 Joggler better?
Would like to wall mount it. Could it synch with mobile me, also would like to update itunes files which all my music files currently are, so probably won't use the music option. Would like opportunity to browse internet on it.
  1. Would it be better with a browser and if so what would you do with it?
Yes. All sorts of quick checking and mumsnetting.
  1. O2 Plans for the Joggler ? your questions answered and what?s to come
  1. What pieces of technology can?t you live without?
son's insulin pump and electronic blood glucose meters, iphone, tv, laptop, sat nav useful but not essential.ipod for running, washing machine(!)

Basics, however, would be the insulin pump and meters, and the iphone with a broadband connection - all the entertainment and business tool I need.

  1. Give an example of the latest bit of gadgetry you used
Joggler of course. I've also been coveting my friend's roomba, or 'roomie' as he is known. Also been using good digital cameras. I find the iphone gps very useful and wish they'd hurry up and upgrade to satnav pdq
  1. Do you think women/mums have specific technology needs? I thnk in this busy world we all have specific needs to keep in contact and to be organised. In many families it is the woman who holds it together as well as working. Not saying that this is right, it's just what tends to happen. Having something like the joggler which can send texts to remind all family members cuts out the human side to 'nagging' as it's done electronically

  1. How did you find setting it up? easy
  1. Are you finding it useful? And why? Is it helping to organise your family life? good to sync all calendars to one device that you can access anywhere - like me or dh at work - or even ds1 form his laptop( he is 10)
  1. Do you think it?s good value for money? (It?s £149.99 or free if you take one instead of a phone upgrade.) I THINK so btu am not sure.
  1. Do you think O2 could do anything to make the O2 Joggler better?
oh loads - read hte thread - wall mounted end times blue line over days , the confirm/cancel word issue
  1. Would it be better with a browser and if so what would you do with it? yes - check other news sites adn ones with my town in the weather...(!)
  1. O2 Plans for the Joggler ? your questions answered and what?s to come
  1. What pieces of technology can?t you live without? mobile
sky plus internet
  1. Give an example of the latest bit of gadgetry you used
( all above) oh also work in a school and use RM tutor to monitor kids IT use - is great fun
  1. Do you think women/mums have specific technology needs? Juggling...
ReginaCovington · 09/06/2009 19:29

( btw do think the guide to it is crap)

SoupDragon · 09/06/2009 20:26
  1. Did you find it easy to set up?
In theory. Apart from the extra gadgets I had to buy. And the smoke, obviously.
  1. What worked best for you?
The Native American smoke signals were, I think, the best function. A fabulous juxtaposition of ancient simplicity against sleek modern design.
  1. Would you recommend it to a friend?
Not if they have sensitive smoke alarms, no, but if they have a wired fire alarm system with a direct link to the fire station then yes, I can see the benefits.
  1. Do you think it's good value for money
£150? Probably not TBH although in the Dragon house it's kind of difficult to tell.
  1. Would you like to see any additions?
Sprinkler system Wall mount
  1. How would you use it to organise your family life?
Um... it could hold the front door open whilst I go out to the dustbin I guess.
  1. Anything else you'd like to add?
Do you think I could have toasted a muffin with it if I left it plugged in long enough?
MerlinsBeard · 09/06/2009 20:32

just checked to see if mine had been updated - erm .. no there was aproblem apparently (although not as big as soupys) and i have had to unplug it, waiting for it to come back on.

Is it a texting thing? Do we pay? where from? our O2 phone?

MerlinsBeard · 09/06/2009 20:35

it does take a loooong time to come on doesn't it?

MerlinsBeard · 09/06/2009 20:41

50 free messages? is that it?

what can i do with them? an i text an event from teh calender to DH? how do i "top up" my messages? Why would i need to use joggler texts instead of the ones i get free on my (O2) phone?

MerlinsBeard · 09/06/2009 20:47

and where can i change the alert volume when I text the joggler? its VERY loud

anne70 · 09/06/2009 21:17

Hi all

I'm sorry I haven't managed to get answers from O2 posted up, the only one I have is in regards to the Joggler going mobile...

There are no plans for a remote for the device but they are looking (longer term) as to making the screen portable so it would have a docking station for charging from which it can be detached.

On the upside there will be O2 technical bods on hand during tomorrow's webchat at 1pm, so we should be able to answer all questions then.

Anne

MerlinsBeard · 09/06/2009 21:23

what do you mean going mobile? as in being able to be unplugged?

Is it getting a browser?

(may not make it to webchat)

wilbur · 09/06/2009 21:42

Since we are all doing such sterling work in testing Joggler 1.0, will we get given a new Joggler when it becomes a docking station gadget? [trying it on emoticon]

SoupDragon · 09/06/2009 21:42

[sulk]

MerlinsBeard · 09/06/2009 22:15

In all seriousness we should! We are being brutally cruel honest AND coming up with ways to make it fabbo!

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/06/2009 22:17

If we can text to/from it, why can't it be integrated with a phone handset as well?

fruitshootsandheaves · 09/06/2009 22:23

mine keeps freezing.. It was adamant that it was the 31st July today despite being turned off twice!

I will have to put it back in the lounge..shame as it was more convenient in the kitchen

l put some photos on it today and that feature is great and had a surprisingly good amount of options.

MrsWeasley · 09/06/2009 23:57

I cant make the webchat tomorrow but here are some thoughts

  1. How did you find setting it up? I found it ridiculously easy.
  2. Are you finding it useful? And why? Yes very useful because it is so easy to use that my husband and older children can easily input events/plans onto the joggler. It is sitting in the kitchen and everyone can check the calendar at any time and indeed they do. I love the nice big clock and the Digital picture frame is great for 2 things: 1 it?s nice to look at and it hides the calendar from prying eyes if the needed (i.e. nosey friends, mother in laws, etc) we check the weather daily and it?s a quick way to play a bit of music whilst cooking. (need to have another go at getting it to only play the music I select and not everything on the Joggler-I don?t want to listen to my Husbands music)
Only just go the message facility but this is so useful and I found it so much easier and quicker to send a message on the Joggler than on my phone.
  1. Would you recommend it to friends? Yes I would.
  1. Do you think its good value for money? Yes I do when you compare it to the price of a Digital photo frame and the Joggler does so much more.
  1. Do you think O2 could do anything to make it better?
I?d like the option to wall mount if I wanted to (would keep the worktop uncluttered). I also think that events should have an end time. Without an end time it doesn?t give you a true picture of your plans. A notes section for events so you could add extra notes but this must be able to be applied to each separate entry as well as block events. (I.e. guides is on every week but the venue and things the girls need to take with them varies each week so we a notes section would be useful. A ?to do? list or shopping list (or both!) that you can attached to each day would be useful. It would do away with needing lists written everywhere and if it was connected to the calendar (and moves from one day to the next) you could tick things off as required. The ability to be able to alter a regular event without canceling the rest of the block would be good (i.e. Guides is one every week for 7 weeks no problems, BUT on week 3 they are meeting earlier and on week 5 they are going to another venue.) Also lots of children?s events are on very week except for the school holidays so it would be useful to be able to book an event for 40 weeks but with the ability to cancel the odd week to cover half terms etc.) Would love to be able to tick things off on the Joggler to say it has been done, that way anyone checking the calendar would know instantly that someone has dealt with an event (ie cats to vet)
  1. Would it be better with a browser and if so what would you do with it? I personally wouldn?t want a browser on it because I would find it too tempting to surf the net (well ok Mumsnet anyway;-))and may be get distracted for the task in hand (i.e. getting out of the house on time!) also my teenage daughter would ?need? it use it for something (MSN!) and that would not allow others to access the calendar or messages.
  1. What pieces of technology can?t you live without? PC, phone, Joggler:-)
  1. Give an example of the latest bit of gadgetry you used: Joggler:-) PC, Mobile
  1. Do you think women/mums have specific technology needs? I think Mums are less forgiving than men, if we want a piece of equipment to do something and it must do it to achieve our praise. In my experience men (well the men I know) are prepared to accept that certain things don?t do things and will therefore have several gadgets.

Overall I am very happy with the Joggler and it is already making our lives easier. :-) Thank you.

DH has just had a good idea the screen saver can be set for the time or photos but could it be set to run though the events of the day. (i.e. each event flashing up on the screen before going on to the next event)

He cant read the little screen without his reading glasses which he doesnt carry around with him but he can read the time and day fine. He also wouldnt have any excuse for forgetting to check events on the Joggler

dizzydixies · 10/06/2009 10:45

am considering getting one of these as I'm due an upgrade I don't really need - shall watch this with interest

I still hate you all for the freebies though

LupusinaLlamasuit · 10/06/2009 10:50

Oh see now I am behind. I have been updated with messaging but still need to get old phone unlocked to use O2 SIM.

But should be at webchat later to bore on about better calendar function being ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for it to be properly useful.

LupusinaLlamasuit · 10/06/2009 10:51

Docking station a great idea BTW.

Magnetic and wallmount options while you're at it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/06/2009 12:51
  1. How did you find setting it up? Apart from the trauma hassle of finding the network key, very straightforward.
  1. Are you finding it useful? Ish. It's relatively quiet in the BIWI household at the moment - and the trick for making it really work will be to get all of us using it, not just me
  1. Would you recommend it to friends? Not sure yet - will have to see how we end up using it and if it really does become integrated into family life the way the paper calendar is
  1. Do you think its good value for money? Not so far - too many of the functions are pointless for me, given that the Joggler lives in the hall - can't see the photos I've downloaded and not much point having music playing there when I'm somewhere else in the house. But I love the added text function - that could make it really worthwhile/worth having
  1. Do you think O2 could do anything to make it better?

Would like the stand to be hinged so that you can change the angle, to make it easier to use/read

I also think that events should have an end time.

A todo list would be fab, especially if it could be time related and send you a reminder.

Would also like it to be integrated with the phone, so that I can input contacts into it and just press a button to dial a friend.

The guide/manual/online manual is hopeless and doesn't explain what some of the other functions are/how to use them. I still don't know what the memo function is for!

  1. Would it be better with a browser and if so what would you do with it? Possibly, although in the hall isn't really the best place - and we have 4 computers in the house already to do this!
  1. What pieces of technology can?t you live without? Phone, PC, laptop, BlackBerry, i-Pods, HD TV/Virgin +
  1. Give an example of the latest bit of gadgetry you used: Apart from the above, my new Skype Dual phone has just arrived and I'm trying to work out the instructions to install it
  1. Do you think women/mums have specific technology needs? No. People who go out of the house to work may have different needs. However, I would say that it's usually us mums who do all the household management, so a Joggler is ideal for this - but it will really come into its own if/when you can use it to delegate tasks for the whole family!
