Hi, hope your Jogglers have arrived safely. Once you've had the chance to get them set up and had a play, please can you post your feedback to these questions from O2:

  1. Did you find it easy to set up?
  1. What worked best for you?
  1. Would you recommend it to a friend?
  1. Do you think it's good value for money
  1. Would you like to see any additions?
  1. How would you use it to organise your family life?
  1. Anything else you'd like to add?

And the latest on the webchats is that they'll now take place between 1-2pm (not 7pm) on Weds 10 June and Weds 1 July on www.mum-e.co.uk, but as usual if you can't make it on the day you can leave your questions/feedback in advance and the Joggler team will answer them/respond between 1-2pm.

We'll post the urls of the chats as soon as we have them.

Happy Joggling,

MNHQ

what is the wicker basket doign

Legacy · 01/06/2009 18:06

You mean it hasn't got an event alarm???

Legacy · 01/06/2009 18:07

Er... nothing, I don't think.. well, except storing books...

MerlinsBeard · 01/06/2009 18:10

i don't think the wicker basket is doing anything except whatever wicker baskets do. ALthough at this point in time it's probably doing its job better than her joggler

fruitshootsandheaves · 01/06/2009 18:13

I am disappointed and have spent ages trying to work round that I can't put a work shift in as a repeat event. If I put shift days in individually then I'd have to edit them all individually if anything changed. Its a real pain.

The repeat option needs to have daily, monthly, yearly and ALSO repeat event every 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 (selectable) days.

and it needs an event alarm

Then it would be perfect.....I think

wilbur · 01/06/2009 18:18

Wow - my Joggler just updated itself with something dh has put in from his computer at work. Oh, happy day! So next Thursday, I already know he has an appointment at 8am instead of the usual "Oh didn't I tell you?" when I discover 5 mins before he has to leave that I have to get the dcs ready for school solo that morning.

Agree with fruitshoots re more colour and background options - I want to highlight my sister's birthday, as I will be dead meat if I forget it, but I don't want to whole day to have sparkling, tumbling presents all over it. Though it is very pretty. Or a choice of colours for text? Would love to do family b'day's in one colour, godchildren in another and friends in a third. I realise this is anal in the extreme, but I, for one, would find it deeply satisfying.

Ditto ability to alter one or two of repeated events - I do a shared run for ds1's cubs with two other families and need to put in whether I am picking up, dropping off or getting other mothers to do it. Or school committee meetings which often change venue.

I'm really enjoying using it, but I will certainly have some feedback. Do you get the impression that the folk at O2 R&D are very clever and well-meaning, but they don't actually run a household?

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/06/2009 18:20

What's the purpose of the memo function? I tried writing a test one, but nothing happens to it/it doesn't go anywhere!

There's nothing in the 'get started' booklet, nor is there anything on the website about it.

lou031205 · 01/06/2009 18:44

You can add event details, and it does come through on text.

For example I had one that said "Remember DD1 Appt (Clinic type),(Ward),(Hospital) on 22/05 at 09:50 AM"

and another "DD2 to Anne's @ 09.10. Take car seat"

You just enter whatever details you need in the 'event' bar.

But totally agree with all other comments, ESPECIALLY the repeating events and start/finish times and scoring out events.

ALSO, would like to be able to search for a keyword by text, so that I can find out when 'x' is, rather than just what happens on a particular day.

AND woud like to be able to check for appts in a date range by text.

wilbur · 01/06/2009 19:12

Has anyone else had trouble loading pictures onto it? I fished out a USB key and filled it with pictures from the computer, but they refuse to load to the Joggler. They are large files, but it doesn't say there is a limit on individual files and I am only doing about 12. Any ideas? Can I load them through t'internet?

MerlinsBeard · 01/06/2009 19:14

uploading things via the internet is a GENIUS idea!! Saves faffing around with a usb stick over and over again

still not big enough though imo

it feels like it wants to replace my stereo, be a digital photo frame, be a swanky calender and a gizmo all at once. 1GB just aint gonna do all that for me i am afraid!

MARGOsBeenDrinkingTea · 01/06/2009 19:22

Ooh yes Fruitshoots - I'd like an event alarm too.

I'm still a little stuck on how to save things on a USB [extremely thick emoticon] to use on my joggler

fruitshootsandheaves · 01/06/2009 20:05

oh and O2 could do with a link to get to your own calendar from their home page as I would like to get to it without having to hear everytime about that lady's hectic day, Alice's recorder lesson and John and Brians football.

Grattage · 01/06/2009 20:09

ye si checked my calendar at work today to see if i cna work tomorrow

Boco · 01/06/2009 20:51

Mine still not up and running because it won't work with our emac modem thing. Have emailed Apple for advice.

gigglinggoblin · 01/06/2009 20:58

my alarm doesnt work either.

and dh says 'it keeps dropping the connection to our streaming media server'. Deffo jogglers fault.

I do like the other calendar on soupys fridge, may have to construct one of those.

KingCanuteIAm · 01/06/2009 21:01

A couple of times now I have gone to input an event, I have clicked to say it is not all day but the scroll for the times have not come back up to let me set a start time. No matter how many times I have canceled and started again they have not come up, if I go to a different day they work but still nothing if I go back to the original day.

Has anyone else had this? IT is very annoying, I can oonly add things on the Internet for those days now

gigglinggoblin · 01/06/2009 21:07

dh has just told me the original product the joggler is based on is here. When can we get the rest of the apps or will we never? Apparently several other phone companies around the world are offering the device like verizon. If it can do all that I wonder why it doesnt, does it cost a huge amount more to add the extras? I woul be much more likely to buy one of the others

MelonCauli · 01/06/2009 21:10

I am coming extremely late to this thread (maybe the last but hopefully not the least). We were on holiday until yesterday so I trotted off to the post office to collect my parcel this morning. It was alot bigger than I thought it would be but very beautiful. My first thought were that I could use it as a digital photo frame if I couldn't get it to work. However it is now chuntering away looking for software updates as I type. A bit slow but easy to set up. I will report back as I go but from reading the posts on here I am not sure how much new stuff I can add.

Oh god, it's gone back to the start screen. Must go.

Legacy · 01/06/2009 21:13

Oh - how interesting! Yes, we obviously have the watered doen version - all those other apps look interesting.

I still think the calendar needs to be as good as the best PC calendars though, for it to truly fulfil it's 'hub' promise?

However I'm beginning to see that if you had teenage children who run their lives by mobile phone and txt etc then it might be useful?

SoupDragon · 01/06/2009 21:19

The wicker basket is doing far more than my Joggler and yes, right now the magnetic Organised Mum thing is winning over modern technology. Mainly because it doesn't require me to get off my ar$e and buy a wireless router.

I have removed the Joggler from the fridge BTW. It is now sat in the middle of my kitchen table looking blankly at me.

gigglinggoblin · 01/06/2009 21:20

yes I can see it being much more use for teens, however I still dont see why you wouldnt just use the free calendar on the www.

Dh says it has no fast forward function when playing music (he might have said streaming media but thats a bit too techie for me), it just skips to the next track.

I would like to be able to check emails on it. My phone just has a few big email sites, that would be fab.

Just a thought, are we supposed to be bashing it to bits or saying how fab it is? I do like it, its very shiny and strokable.

Haribosmummy · 01/06/2009 21:42

Mine's here!!!

  1. Did you find it easy to set up? yes, amazingly so!
  1. What worked best for you? clock and weather and travel functions have been used most so far. The simplicity and speed of it are def. advantages (we are a household addicted to laptops and computers - for 2 adults and 2 teenagers, we have 4 laptops and 2 static PCs! - so the joggler has some pretty stiff competition!!)
  1. Would you recommend it to a friend? Not sure yet. It is a very pretty gadget (though would MUCH prefer the ability to hang it on a wall - or even better to have magnets so it could stick to the fridge!)
  1. Do you think it's good value for money. Def. for someone who doesn't have a laptop... I think it's a bit too early to see how much it 'takes over' from our PCs.
  1. Would you like to see any additions? The ability to personalise the screen a little would be good.
  1. How would you use it to organise your family life? it needs to have a to do list... I am ruled by my daily to do list!
  1. Anything else you'd like to add? Only just started playing with it, so will play around more during the week. Biggest worry, though, is that the calendar is only going to be as good as the information provided and if my DH and DSDs don't add things to it, we won't be in an appreciably better position!!
MelonCauli · 01/06/2009 21:56
  1. Did you find it easy to set up? Yes, fairly easy but the software download took a while
  1. What worked best for you? Hmm, the traffic looks as if it could be useful
  1. Would you recommend it to a friend? I am not convinced yet
  1. Do you think it's good value for money? Not at the moment but that may change
  1. Would you like to see any additions? Email, an end time on appointments on the calendar, easier to get into the calendar online, to have more than one location on the weather.
  1. How would you use it to organise your family life? To coordinate activities between me and dh
  1. Anything else you'd like to add? It's a bit of a pain that the stand sticks out so much (I put it upside down at first!) so a folding stand would be better. Then you have the option to hang it.

As a family we use google calendars and everything else is done from my Ipod touch (music, email, weather, photos). The google calendar is IMHO far superior. We can add start and end times, repeat in many combinations, alter individual activities, invite others to some meetings. The ability to add an end time is very important, and would be a deal breaker for me. If dh is asked to pick dd up from a party and he looks on the Joggler, how is he meant to know when it finishes? Also how do you know if activities overlap?

Anyway, those are my initial findings. I'm not sure we will be persuaded to give up our google calendar yet.

Good Morning.

Here is the vote of the Surrey jury.

Royaume Uni -- Nil Point

Joggler -- The jury is still out.

Impressive box ? Feels like a quality purchase.

The following are not UK cities ? Dublin ? Cork ? Birr ? Kilkenny

Calendar colours are a bit girly

If it synched with Outlook or --Crackberries?Blackberries it would be ideal.

Better definition required on months - both on the calendar and in the box with the month in it.

Traffic ? Knowledge of roads presumed until you zoom in really close.

A back up battery would be useful, as you could then move it around the house. e.g DH and I were discussing the forthcoming week in bed this morning, would have been handy to nip down grab Joggler and cross reference.

An alarm would be useful.

It needs to be made clearer how to change your nominated number. E.g I started out by specifying my Vodafone, when I had a better understanding of how it worked, I set up an old phone with my sim card. It took ages to figure out and even the help desk were foxed.

The shuffle and the refresh symbol are not covered in the hand book, and in fact I rather suspect that the handbook may have been written by somebody too close to the project.

Greater breakdown of times on the calendar. 10.00 10.15 10.20.

Fortnightly would be handy.

The reminder times are a bit limiting, you either receive a reminder the day before or an hour before, unless I am missing something.

DH loves the traffic and the sport.

We both like the ability to click on it as you go past to grab a quick news update. If we can receive Sky why not the BBC ??

Oh and O2 could do with a link to get to your own calendar from their home page as I would like to get to it without having to hear every time about that lady's hectic day, Alice's recorder lesson and John and Brian?s football. Amen to that.

How in the name of all that is good and Holy does the memo function work, again handbook woefully light on information.

That is all for now, I am off to try out the alarm function.

This concludes the vote of the Surrey jury.
