1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them alone on lighter days and with as back up to tampon in heavier days.
They were quite a good fit with my lifestyle, although I found the easing and drying with only two pairs to be a bit of a pain.

2. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

They were really comfortable to wear, and as I am prone to flooding on heavy days they really gave me additional confidence when going out and about, (Alao much easier to manage when out with a toddler who likes to provide a running commentary at the top of his voice in public toilets 😀)

3. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Give them a go! But be prepared that the wading and drying is more time consuming than chucking san-pro in the bin,

4. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed?

I thought they were great. I don’t think I would be confident enough that they could cope alone on heavy days (I can go through a tampon in an hour at the heaviest) , but certainly performed well as a back up on those ads and worked really well for lighter days

5. .Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

I will.

Thank you Mumsnet and Uniqlo for the opportunity to test the shorts! I've never used any sort of sanitary short before as the price tag is usually way over my budget. (I'm a 6 pairs of pants for a £5ver from Tesco kinda gal!)

1.I used the shorts for the second two days of my cycle, which always are the heaviest for me. I put them on first thing in the morning. They were really comfortable which meant I could go about my daily activities and errands without really feeling I was wearing any sort of sanitary item. I normally use cloth pads which are quite bulky during my first two days but the shorts didn't feel like that at all.

  1. The material is very smooth and comfortable. They are not thick so fit under my clothes nicely. The absorbant pads cover a large proportion of the short so I had confidence that I wouldn't suffer any leaks.

  1. They absorb a lot so washing them thoroughly is a must. Their advice is to soak them with the absorbant pad facing downward which is good advice. I soaked for around 5 minutes before popping into the machine on a 30degree wash with my other sanitary items and they came out lovely and clean.

My cycle is relatively heavy so I don't think I could wear one pair for the whole day. I changed late afternoon back to my normal cloth pad.

  1. I think they are a really great product and one I would be happy to use again and again. Ideally I would wear them during the day when I am most active and will probably use a cloth pad at night. They were really comfortable and absorbed a lot. No leaks or smells. I barely remembered I was wearing them!

My only negative point is that I wish the waistband was thicker. There's only a thin band of elastic around the waist of the short and my personal preference would have been a thicker band. But otherwise a really great product.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them alone on my heavy days and found them easy and not having to think about them

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I deliberately went longer than usual to see how they would cope - they stood up to TEN hours of possibly the heaviest period I've had without a single leak!

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Double check sizing as they're true to size

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Very pleased and yes, I'm likely to use them alongside the reusable pads I already have
I wish the front of the leg was higher cut as it was a little low and felt tight at first but didn't dig in. And a more forgiving stretchy/wider waistband for comfort!

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test?

I used them as a ‘back up’ against leaks as well as my usually sanitary wear.

What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

Perfectly. They are comfortable to wear, they are not too big or small.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

The fabric and the shape of them worked well for me.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I would say to try them. If you get get heavy periods like I do use them to feel more confident against leaks. I even wore them to the gym.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

They worked so well for me. I am pleased I had to opportunity to try them. They are something I will continue to use. I might treat myself to a couple more pairs.
For the time since I was a teenager I didn’t feel like I had to do the ‘quick glance at the chair to check’ thing every time I stood up Smile.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

It was actually my 14 year old who used the shorts. She is a toilet refuser at school so uses period pants a lot. We have used several brands Modibodi, Wuka, Sainsburys. These pants seemed much thinner than the premium brands (Modibodi and Wuka) so I'm not convinced they offer the same protection. However, no complaints from DD. Due to them being thinner they dried far, far easier than the other pants we have tried which was handy. Sanitary shorts is an awful name though - I associate sanitary with toilets/sewage, so it's a bit yuk to me.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

They were very high-waisted. I wouldn't actually call them shorts, more high-rise briefs. The cut didn't seem as trendy/youthful as the other pants we have. We also had a dusky pink colour which I would never choose irl. Other than that, I liked that they dried quickly so turn around time wasn't too long. Also, the material was sleek and quick-drying rather than the bulkier cotton style of others we have.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I would use them in conjunction with other sanpro. I use a cup and disposable panty liners so would use the pants in place of the pantyliners.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

She will continue to use them but only towards the end of her period. Without additional protection they aren't enough on her heaviest days.

They are comfortable and a good size and fit
  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Defiantly try them They are great and very comfortable. They wash well too
  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Yes I will continue to use them I was a bit nervous about relying only on them as my periods are very heavy. The shorts worked very well.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

Used them during cycle and whenever I went running as I have stress incontinence. They fit perfectly with the clothes I wear.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

The fabric texture, the smooth lines under clothes, the perfect fit and how I didn't even notice I was wearing them.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Make sure anyone you live with knows not to put them in the dryer.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed?

Very impressed compared to the other brands I've tried. I didn't use them solo on heaviest days as I couldn't risk it.

  1. Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Definitely and will buy more.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used these on day three so slightly lighter. The absorbancy was good and I felt confident wearing them.
  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

The absorbancy was good and the black pad reached high up at the back which prevented leaks. This was a big plus for me as previous pairs didnt offer this.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I'd go up a size. The elastic at the waist felt a bit too snug. It would be fine usually but with bloating I felt a bit uncomfortable. I also wasnt keen on the bright pink salmon colour.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Yes I think they did well, they offered protection comfort and confidence

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

Like others I had always wanted to try something like this but felt I couldn’t justify the outlay if they didn’t work for me so I loved trying these. I tried them on all the days of my period- was a lot of effort washing and drying but I’d think about buying more. They fitted in well with my lifestyle in that I could put them on and just forget about being on my period until the end of the day which was awesome.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Really comfy, smooth lines. Great capacity and I liked not having to worry when out and about.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Use the measuring guide on the website.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

I genuinely thought they were fab. So comfortable to wear, so easy and removed the faff of making sure I had other Sanpro with me- and an earlier poster makes a good point about using toilets with toddlers and how much more discreet these are! Will definitely continue to use them!

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them on day 3 and 4 which tend to be slightly lighter days for me. I used them during the daytime but having used them now would feel confident using them overnight. As they were very absorbant I didn't need to change them at an inconvienent times so they didn't impact on undertaking any daily activities. Although I didn't do any sports while wearing them they felt secure enough that I would have been happy to do so.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

They were very comfy - much more so than I was expecting. The pad felt thinner than my usual disposables but still worked really well and held up absorbancy wise.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Check the sizing carefully - they were comfy but definitely snug and I had sized up.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them along with my usual sanitary protection for the heaviest few days then on their own for the lighter few days. They washed and dried quite quickly and were comfortable without worrying about leaks.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

They were very comfortable to wear. I particularly liked that I could wear my usual winged pad in it and be able to tuck the wings inside. They were easy to wash and dried quickly near my dehumidifier.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Give them a go. I bleed heavily and have had several leaks in the past with other makes of period pants so I don't use them on their own on my heavier days, but they are definitely better for my skin (I have lichen sclerosus and sanpro often irritates it), and obviously less waste for the environment!

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

They were comfortable, looked good under clothing, and easy to wash and dry. The waterproof area is large at the back which is reassuring for overnight, although it's a shame the front bit doesn't come up higher as I sometimes sleep on my stomach.
Will I continue to wear them? Yes, but as a back up layer on my heavier days.

Thank you for the opportunity to try them.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them on 2nd and 3rd day of period. One day I went to work for a few hours. Easy to rinse out and dry on a towel rail then put in a wash bag. I changed out of them around dinner time (early evening)

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Really comfy and felt secure level of protection. I was pleasantly surprised as I didn't think I'd like the fabric. Also liked that they cover my tum!

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Best I've tried, make sure you get size right, that was a bit puzzling.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

I thought they were fab, much happier with them than primark ones. Bit pricey though, at close to menopause I might not invest in more.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them on lighter days and overnight. No leaks and performed adequately. They fitted into my lifestyle fine but I did find the short a little uncomfortable overnight.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

They washed and dried easily and quickly.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I wasn’t keen on the cut at all, to me they were really high waisted and I felt they were really unflattering. If you are happy with Bridget Jones Knickers then this won’t be an issue but I much preferred the Thinx brand I usually wear.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

The lilac colour is hideous, I agree with PP about the name too sanitary shorts is not really appealing. I’d prefer all black. I felt that the sanitary insert should be stitched all the way round to the main body of the short as it bunched and moved on the pairs I tested rendering them uncomfortable.
I will continue to use them as they are effective and an environmental win but not at nighttime as this is when I found comfort to be an issue.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to test them.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test?

What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?
As back up on heavy days and on their own on lighter days. I would need more than two pairs to be able to use them practically every day.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Smooth and slim fitting, discreet

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Buy a few pairs. The cut was too full brief for me though, frumpy looking when on and quite tight around my tummy when I was bloated. I would size up. I liked the black, not the neutral colour so would recommend buying black.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Good performance and dry quickly after washing. I didn’t feel secure enough to use them alone every day but that might be individual. I will definitely use them again as back up or on lighter days and will buy a few more in a bigger size.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them alone on lighter days and with tampons for heavier days or overnight.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I liked the feel of the fabric and how thin the actual protective layer was. I was initially nervous to use them as they were not as thick as other brands I had tried before but the thin protective layer works well. The thinness of the material helps them to dry much quicker than other brands I have used.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

To look past the initial look of the product - they do not look the most stylish - and the thinness of the fabric. They don't look as if they would work but they do.

I will continue to use them and will look to purchase some more. I thought they performed well, especially for the price which is cheaper than other brands I have used.

Here's my experience with the Uniqlo's AIRism:

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used it for 2nd and 3rd day of my period when the flow is maximum. I liked the fact that you're botheration free about the pads moving or staining etc.

  1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Most comfortable sanitary product I've ever used. Absorption quality is really good and the pads are broad enough to stop staining the sides.

  1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Start when medium to low flow to build confidence in the pants.

  1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

I developed a slight itch and rash from the material outside the pad. I will give it a try next cycle and see if it develops again.
Having only two and washing between uses is a bit of work but dries quickly.

1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

They arrived on day 2 of my period so perfect timing. On the first day I used them along with a tampon, as my period is very heavy in first couple of days and was worried about how they would perform as I'd never used sanitary knickers before.
They were discreet and fitted fine under my usual jeans and work clothing.

2. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

They were very much just like regular big knickers. I somehow expected them to be bulky for some reason, but they fitted really well, were very comfortable. I had to google what the amount of blood they would hold actually equated to, and basically they could hold over half of what i'd lose in a normal period. I thought I may have to change them during the day but this isn't the case.

3. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s
AIRism sanitary shorts?

To give them a go! I was really surprised and very pleased I have tried them. I did use them with tampons to start with, but by end of the period I was using them on their own and they were just like wearing normal knickers. No wetness or leakage or anything, and very comfy.

4. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed?
Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Really pleased with how they performed. I had it in my mind that you'd be able to tell they were filling up with blood or something and the end of the day I'd have what resembled something puffy full of blood between my legs, but it isn't the case at all. You couldn't even tell there was blood in them, they remained the same and not even wet. Just like normal knickers. I will definitely be using them again, and getting my teen girls to buy and try and some. So much easier than having to worry about towels and/or tampons. I'll probably start with still use a tampon on my 1st and 2nd days as very heavy and wear the shorts as a 'backup', where normally i'd be using towels as backup. Although if I'm working from home on a heavy day I will try them out on their own to see, as I honestly think they will be fine! On day 3 and onwards I'll be using them on their own for sure, as literally you can put them on and forget about your period. They are brilliant!

Thank you for the opportunity to try them out. I am now a fan and will definitely be recommending them.

  1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used the shorts during the lighter last two days of my period and also for stress incontinence back up at the start of my next cycle. I found them really comfortable and well sized. They handled mild incontinence and a lighter period flow really well. I was left feeling dry and comfortable. I would not feel secure on wearing them on heavy flow day without extra back up. I also don’t think they would cope with the more severe urinary incontinence I get just before my period when my hormone levels drop but to be honest even at Tena lady towel can let me down then too,
