1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I liked the material - it felt like it went well under clothes. The silky feel is nice - not the usual ‘period knicker’ feel. They were easy to wash and dry (I was lucky with the weather). I liked the high style. And that protection went up the back and front. I am prone to flooding and they coped with that ok.

Sizing worked well. I am a 10-12 and chose a medium, I didn’t get any ‘bulges’ from this size and felt ok to wear them under gym leggings.

I will, and prioritised washing them so I could wear them again during the same period! I felt confident in these as a back up (am prone to flooding).

I wore them as my sole sanitary product, both during the day and at night. The second and third day of my period are usually quite heavy, and I was worried that they might leak, but I had no issues whatsoever on that front. I have a health condition that makes it painful and difficult for me to walk, and not having to worry about getting to the bathroom in time to change a pad or tampon was a huge relief.

Comfortable to wear, easy to wash and they dried quickly. I was expecting them to be really bulky, but they aren't.

They work really well for me, and I am definitely going to continue using them. I'm going to invest in a few more pairs for myself.

What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I wore them as my only protection and found they were really comfortable. I wore them when hiking and exercising and they were great.

Go for it, they aren't as messy as you think and will save you a fortune in the long run.

I will continue to use them, they are comfy and I am pleased that I no longer put so many sanitary products in the bin so I am doing my bit for the environment

I put them on from day one. I changed halfway through the day, they weren’t leaking or anything but felt heavy and I felt more comfortable in a fresh pair. There was no odour, the packaging says this is due to silver zinc biocide.

I loved them, the fit was great (I’m a 12/14 and size L suits me fine). They washed really well and felt smooth under my clothes.

1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Go for it, they are so easy to use and so much more convenient than pads or tampons. Oh, and the pink ones are black inside, which was a good surprise.

They performed really well, I will continue to use and buy a couple more pairs to reduce the number of washes I need to do.

A - used in conjunction with pads - very very heavy flow especially at night and often leak. They were discreet enough to just look like big pants.

A they were comfy - come up over the tummy (so didn’t feel a tight band over a tender belly) and the fabric was soft with a slight sheen.

A oh yes try - I have tried cheaper ones and they just aren’t as comfortable. These don’t feel thick or ‘crinkly’.

A I liked them - comfortable and don’t look like old lady knickers. Worth spending a little more on some decent pants.

(I will use them as long as they don’t call them ‘panties for menstruating people’ or call women / girls ‘bleeders’ - marketing people take note)

I have very heavy periods so didn't feel comfortable using it on my heavy days so used it on lighter days then with a menstrual cap on my heaviest 3 days.

I am in a job which means that I am often in virtual calls for 3-4 hours where I need to give my full attention. I need a product that I am confident in and this fitted the bill.

The fit was lovely and there was no odour. On my lighter days, they were comfortable and very absorbent.

I'd go for it. They are true to size and work well.

I will definitely continue to use and might but more because washing and drying 2 pairs was hard work. Really rate the shorts, they are so comfortable

I used them as back up on heavier days and as then on their own on lighter days. I generally really like Uniqlo products and these were no different, same quality and design I’d expect from them.

I really liked the design, they were much less bulky than other brands I have tried but that didn’t seem to affect their performance. They were comfy and quite sleek so I never felt like I was wearing sanpro. The material was really nice too, and I liked the design of the gusset (even though I hate that word) as you could tell if they were still doing ok.

1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I’d really suggest giving them a go, cheaper than some other brands I’ve tried and more comfortable, a really good intro to period pants.

1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

I thought they performed excellently. Felt safe wearing them, they didn’t give any VPL under clothes, they washed well and dried quickly. Obviously I don’t know if they will keep their shape after multiple washes but Uniqlo stuff usually holds up well so that doesn’t really worry me. I’ll definitely keep using them, probably as my favourite period pants and I will almost certainly buy more.

1. I used them for the second half of my period when I have a lighter flow. They were much more comfy than a pad.
2. I like the fact that they don't smell as much as a pad when dirty. They also dried quickly when washed. I like that they look like ordinary knickers.
3. I would recommend them. I don't know whether they would cope with heavy flow days as I wasn't brave enough to try, but they were ideal for the second half of my period.
4. They were great, and I'll continue using them. They performed really well on my lighter flow days, I was particularly impressed that they didn't get smelly.

I used the shorts on the lighter days of my cycle and they worked really well! I'm going to try on the heavier days during my next cycle.

I liked that they were lightweight and not bulky. Also I've found with mobibodi the elasticated waist is quite harsh and makes a muffin top - the Uniqlo shorts are higher cut and more forgiving for those of us with a bit of a tum!

I'd give them a go - they work really well. The sizing was fair I thought. The material is a bit like cycling shorts so that takes a bit of getting used to.

Yes I'm going to keep using them! And I think they are priced well compared to others so I'm going to get some more pairs to be able to use them across my cycle.

I used the shorts with my mooncup on heavy days and on their own towards the end of my period. As with my mooncup I liked not having to deal with san pro during my working day and leaving changing until the evening.

They were more absorbent than I expected, and dried quickly after washing.

I was hesitant to try them on my heaviest days without another form of protection, but they were more absorbent than expected, so on my next period I might try it.

Overall performance was good, a more comfortable waistband would be appreciated for cramps and bloating. However, I will try them agiain.

I used them mainly as backup for leaks as I have very heavy periods. They were very comfortable and as they are thinner that most sanitary pants I didn't feel self conscious about them
2. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts? Good design - I liked the gap inbetween the layers in the gusset that mean you could wear sanitary towels with wings with them sticking out.

4. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts? Definitely! Really pleased with them. I often leak overnight and even with other more bulky sanitary pants I have tried I have managed to get some leaks but these ones didn't leak at all.

I used them on my lighter flow days, as back up on heavier days and at night at the end of my period when I wasn’t quite sure if it had finished!

The material was very nice and soft and the ‘pad’ part didn’t feel overly bulky so I wasn’t worried about the silhouette under my clothing

Realistically you would need a few pairs to cover you for a full cycle to allow for more convenient washing and drying but obviously for a trial 2 pairs is reasonable. I did find the leg homes tight despite them fitting well elsewhere so certain body shapes may find the same

I will continue to use them. I’m never particularly heavy so felt confident using them at all times

Apologies for the last minute feedback, my last period arrived whilst waiting for the shorts to come so I've had to wait to come on again!

1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?

I used them as my sole period protection. My flow isn't overly heavy although I usually have 1 day/night that is heavier than the rest. They fit perfectly into my lifestyle as I already use reusable pads so the washing/drying was no extra effort than usual.

I loved the silky material and that they were a comfortable but snug fit, I felt very secure in them. I also loved that on my heavier night, I didn't have to worry about leaking onto the bedding as the pad bit covers a large area. I liked that they were far less bulky than my reusable pads and felt more breathable.

1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Check your sizing on their size chart as they may not be as effective if a looser fit. I would definitely recommend trying them though!

I was really impressed with them, they suit my needs perfectly and I didn't leak once when using them which will give me a lot more confidence for future cycles! I will definitely continue using them and if I'm lucky enough to win the voucher then I hope I can use it to buy some more! :-)

I used them from the first day of my period. Very easy to use and wash.

2. The fit was a little uncomfortable around the legs when you first put them on.

The double gusset design which allowed you to hide the wings of a sanitary towel was a great idea.

I used them as a backup with tampons and on their own at the end of my periods. They fit very well, something so brilliant and so useful, which takes away all my worries about accidental leaks.

I loved the style, material, and longer back, which added extra peace of mind that they will not leak so easily and they didn't leak at all. Loved the color and easiness of drying. Amazing product.

Definitely worth trying, brilliant invention to make every day of periods hassle and worries-free.

1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

I think they performed very well, no leaks, comfortable to wear on lighter days or as a backup on heavier days. Easy to wash and dry. Lovely material, comfortable style. Was worried about the dusky pink colour. but all was well, much nicer than plain black pants. I liked that there were no unpleasant smell present and no wetness feeling which was great. I will continue to use them and would reccomend to my friends, as this is life changing product.

I used them towards the end of my period, one pair when out for a few days and at home, and another pair overnight. They were comfortable, and being at home most the time or only out for a little bit I was confident wearing them during the lighter part of my period.

They had good coverage and didn't feel like they were falling down, or moving.

The fabric can feel quite warm and they are designed to be snug fitting.

I will continue to use these for the end of my period when it's lighter but I still need some protection. It was nice not to have to wear a pad (I wear re-usable cloth pads usually) and I also did like that they were comfy to wear.

Answer- I used them alone, I pretty much only wear period pants now.
I found that they coped with my average flow perfectly well.

Don’t worry about the lightweight feel, they will be fine ! Also they do feel quite snug, personally I think I needed the next size up as I am on the edge of a size, I am going to buy some one size larger. But they are supposed to fit snugly I think , and do feel tighter when first on but stretch to form fit well.

1. What are your thoughts on how well the shorts performed? Will you continue to use your shorts?

They worked well for me used alone, they didn’t leak and felt comfortable . For reference I am on HRT and my periods are not very heavy , average flow I would say. The shorts washed and line dried well, they dried more quickly than the ones I have from a different brand. I liked the smooth and simple shape. My teenage daughters want some so I am going to buy the shorts for them as they both prefer to use period pants and they liked the look of them. I have only realised from this thread that the double gusset is to hide wings if used with pads, I didn’t understand why it was loose at the sides and worried it would shift but actually it was absolutely fine in use. What a good idea! I am happy I got to try the shorts, I will definitely buy more.

I used them as my only sanitary protection. I do have quite light periods. I do worry sometimes I might have a heavier period than usual and find it’s quite hard to know when wearing period pants. We’ll, until it’s too late.

I found them surprisingly thin. Also quite tight which I quite liked. Also liked the washing instructions printed on them, as I put them straight on and chucked the packet away without reading.

Size up if you don’t want them snug. Get two or more.

I will continue to use them. They performed and washed well. Must be better for the environment too.

I used them as standalone sanitary protection (without a tampon or cup). I already use reusable pads so they were similar to them and fit my lifestyle well.

1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I loved how comfortable I found them. The size was perfect (I'm between an 8 and a 10 and trialled a small). The pad area isn't bulky or stiff at all, meaning they're discreet under tight clothing. Despite it being a slim 'pad', the absorbency was great.

1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

I would say check sizing carefully as they are fairly tight fitting so if you suffer from period bloat you may want to size up.

The shorts performed exactly as I expected them to - I experienced no leaks at all. I will absolutely continue to use them as well as my usual cloth pads.

I got these for my 14 year old daughter . About 2 months ago someone suggested sanitary shorts , we'd never heard of them but she needed added protection as she was using tampons and a night time towel during her period and would very often leak. When at school is embarrassing for her and you know how teenagers can be . Also to say that swapping leaked through knickers and putting them in her bag all day at school til she got home wasnt ideal
She needed to try something else as they'll be many years of this .
She needed something that helped her feel clean and normal about her period.

1. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Shorts are more comfortable than knickers , they dont even feel like shorts , snug pants that fit well . It actually doesn't feel like I'm wearing a pad or tampon that constantly need changing , or the pad gets misplaced in the gusset of the kicker and the ' whoosh ' of menstrual cycles didnt mean I had to look at the chair everytime i got up in school I felt like I smelled cleaner ( these are her words ) They are much better for the environment, easy to clean and dry and are reusable made with sustainable materials. They are reusable and mean that we save so much money now everything is increasing and we feel like we are helping the environment and doing our bit ( these are my words I am her mother ) .

1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Try them . If they dont work they dont work . Shorts are much more comfortable than placing a towel in between your legs and hoping it doesnt shift a mm when you get up. You can go about your day and know that you probably wont leak , a pad built inside that doesn't move . We are heavy bleeders unfortunately and need to do to what we can that helps gets us through the day

1. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?

Absolutely yes . She much prefers these to the night time towel and tampon list the same time . To be honest I dont soak them before i wash them . I put them on a setting on my washing machine that does the same thing. They wash well and she has ditched the tampons for now as it's still early days but she is very pleased with them . To be honest I was very worried about her using tampons at that age as the fibres in the tampon scare me and I worry of toxic shock. She is going to go through many years of this and I feel like she's safer in that sense that no fibres are left behind which reduces the risk of infections . They dont clog up drains, toilets and there's no smell with sanitary bins .

I used them as stand alone protection over the course of my heaviest four day period and found them incredibly convenient - didn't have to think about changing things every few hours.

Fit was excellent - high waisted so very comfortable and really good seamless material. Not overly padded like a mattress but more than enough coverage and coped really well with two 'floods'

True to size - buy a couple of pairs to see you through. Very easy to rinse and wash. If period is incredibly heavy, could be used in conjunction with other san pro but still comfy.

As above, performed really well and will be my go to period underwear. I had tried one other make before but material not as comfortable and not as fully covered as these (the protection goes quite far up in the back)

I used the shorts on their own for some of the time, and on my heaviest day with my moon cup. They were perfect for my lifestyle - I put them on and got with the rest of my day.

I liked the material, it was soft against my skin. I found the cut and style to be comfortable. Perhaps not the sexiest garment I've worn, but no-one was going to see them apart from me!
There was no smell at all from them, and they were really absorbant - I didn't feel damp when wearing them.

1. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?

Give them a try! Along with my moon cup, I'm completely converted to reusable sanitary protection.

If you are between sizes, it would be best to size up.
