Here goes:
1. How did you use Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts during the test? What do you think about how they fit in with your lifestyle?
I tried them for a full day and the second pair overnight during the heaviest part of my period, and again towards the end after washing them. I am normally a very happy menstrual cup user but was interested in trying them as DD has been using some (different brands though) and has got on well with them. I found they fitted in with my lifestyle well, they seemed comfy and effective so I could just put them on and forget about them and not worry about changing or emptying (I don't have mega heavy flow so could manage with one pair all day or overnight without anything else). The washing and drying was not too much hassle, as they were easy enough to wash and dried very fast compared to other brands DD has tried (some of hers take ages!).
2. What did you like about Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?
Very comfortable, fitted well, mostly very effective (I felt clean and dry virtually all the time, no leaks, no smell etc - only after getting up in the morning when wearing them overnight there was a bit of stickiness, but probably to be expected after overnight wear and when needing to change them). Could basically put them on and forget about them/forget about my period pretty much! Easy to wash and fast drying, and better for the environment than disposable pads/tampons.
3. What advice would you share with others considering trying Uniqlo’s AIRism sanitary shorts?
Make sure you remember/ensure others in the household won't use fabric softener with them or tumble dry them, and get enough pairs to be able to wash/dry them in between if planning to use them right through your period. Consider combining/mixing and matching them with other methods depending on your needs, e.g. for swimming or similar you would still probably want a tampon or menstrual cup. They would also probably be good to use just in case when worried about being "caught out", e.g. for anyone with an irregular cycle, during perimenopause perhaps, etc.
4. What are your thoughts about how the sanitary shorts performed? Will you continue to use your Uniqlo sanitary shorts?
I was very pleased with them overall, even though I would probably have preferred a less "full-coverage" style (e.g. bikini style) as they did look quite big (but did fit and were comfy). As a happy menstrual cup user, they wouldn't quite persuade me away from using those, as I still prefer the cups especially for overnight use and for swimming, showering etc., but I will probably switch to using the shorts instead at certain times, e.g. towards the end of my period (when the cups sometimes seem to become more uncomfortable/hard to position for me - not sure why - and flow is also lighter), or if I think my period might be coming but don't want to start using the cup just in case.
If I had not yet discovered menstrual cups or wasn't able/didn't want to use them for any reason though, I would definitely prefer the shorts to pads or tampons and would be happy to use them as my main form of protection - especially compared to disposable sanpro, due to the environmental benefits.
