At the same time as giving their feedback on this thread, testers completed a survey on their experience of testing the Morrisons nappies with their child.

84% would recommend the New Baby Nappies, 83% would recommend the Ultra Dry Nappies and 85% would recommend the Ultra Dry Pants to a friend or family member, therefore Morrisons Nutmeg nappies and pants have been awarded the Mumsnet Rated badge.

This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who have been testing nappies or pull up pants from the Morrisons ‘Nutmeg’ range.

Testers trialled Nutmeg New Baby Nappies, Nutmeg Ultra Dry Nappies or Nutmeg Ultra Dry Pants.

We tried the size 5 ultra dry nappies. We are full-time cloth users, and found the thinness of the nappy quite off-putting. However they did fit well on our petite 27mo and I can't say they leaked at all. I wasn't fussed on the horrible smell once they had been wee'd in though.

Being disposable I could see them being handy on holiday or bad weather when it's hard to get the washing dried

We tried the size 4 pants, they fit well and had no leakages either day or night. Skin seemed dry enough.

1. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?

I liked the elastic at the sides- the fit was much better than other supermarket own brand pants- I’d aliken the fit to pampers pants- they felt more premium than other supermarket pants we’ve tried.

I don’t think he’s bothered either way by what he’s wearing! But he prefers the pants to nappies as can stand up to change and the snug fit meant it wasn’t saggy when full. I also like they have the sticky tab at the back to hold it together if there’s a poo- again other supermarket own brands don’t have this so you always need a nappy sack which just feels like more plastic waste!

1. If you could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies, what would that be and why?

Like others have said- they have a very noticeable smell when wet which isn’t pleasant. Fix that and you’ve got a great product!

1. Would you recommend the Nutmeg nappies to others?

Not sure- probably but with the caveat that they can be a bit smelly!

We tested the size 5 pant pants. They seemed to be very comfortable and on a par with other pants in terms of the fit. My DS also seems to have a bit of bottom escaping to the side on all nappies and it was the same with these pants!

There was some leakage but again it was about the same as with other brands. I'd say about the same as the leading brand and better than some other supermarket own brands.

No problems whatsoever with skin dryness - he wasn't damp or wet unless he had leaked.

1. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?

I liked the easy front and back labelling, as well as how slimline they were. I appreciate the little sticky tab too, as you often don't get these.

I'd make the back wider to accommodate chubby buttocks!

Yes I would - definitely for the price compared to the leading premium brand.

We tested the pants for my 4 year old at bedtime. They performed really well. He’s usually dry but when it’s hot he drinks a lot more so we have had a few more wet than usual. They fitted very comfortably and there were no leaks.

They were lightweight and nice and thin so fit easily under pyjamas. Also they didn’t leak.

I don’t think he really noticed a change from his usual pull ups. The design/ picture on the front is quite neutral he might have paid more attention if it was brightly coloured but to be honest I don’t think he really cares as long as he’s comfortable.

As I said above The picture could be a brighter and different designs but otherwise nothing.

We tried size 2 nappies they fitted really well no nappy rash but a little leak at night time during the day they were great. A little wetness but overall great.

We tested the the size 5 pants, and was very pleased with them, They didn't leak, They didn't sag as much as others we have tried, My little girl drinks a lot and they held up really well. No issue's with skin wetness. She didn't get sore. Overall really pleased with them.

My little girl drinks a lot and other nappies sag and leak out the sides, These held really well and I didn't get any leakages out of the sides. They fit really well, She didn't develop any nappy rashes.

She didn't display any discomfort, They didn't leak, They didn't stop her from doing any of her normal activities.

1. If you could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies, what would that be and why?

No I think they are much improved on the previous version on sale, I tried them the week before these arrived and they are much improved.

Yes I would, I will also be buying them in the future.

I tested Nutmeg Ultra Dry Nappies in size 4, and they performed brilliantly in all areas! They were true to size (which should be a given, but I've found at least two other brands which aren't) and we had no leaks nor nappy rash.

2. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?
They're thinner than other nappies, yet no less absorbent. I also thought the designs printed on them were cute, and the "front"/"back" labelling was a nice touch!

3. How did your child feel wearing the Nutmeg nappies?
They (I have twins) are too little to tell me themselves, but they didn't fuss or pull at the nappies and slept soundly at night, so they seemed pretty comfortable in them.

4. If you could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies, what would that be and why?
Honestly, nothing! I know that a decent review includes negatives as well as a positives, but I genuinely can't find fault with these nappies!

5. Would you recommend the Nutmeg nappies to others?
Absolutely!

Ultra dry nappy pants, size 4. They were the perfect fit for DS, no leaks day or night - even when DS slept for 14 hours straight! His skin was perfectly dry.

1. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?

They fitted DS perfectly, especially around the leg areas. I loved the tab on the back to wrap them up when dirty; I haven’t found another supermarket brand that has this feature, only the more expensive brands.

DS is only 1, but he seemed fine.

1. If you could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies, what would that be and why?

We liked everything about the nappy pants. If anything, I’d say to make the sizing slightly more generous, as although they fit DS perfectly, they are slightly on the small side compared to other brands of size 4 pants we’ve used.

Absolutely, they are one of the best nappies we’ve used for DS.

We tested the size 4 nappy pants. Found the fit to be a bit small - they were riding up little and unfortunately we had the first night time leak in over a year with them. Felt like we were changing more frequently during the day with them.

He seemed happy enough during the day, not so happy at night.

I would need them to be more absorbent. Struggled a little with tearing the sides as well, which isn’t a problem with his usual nappy pants.

Sorry, no. I won’t be changing from our usual pampers nappy pants, and wouldn’t suggest them to anyone else.

Size 4 Nappies. Fit - they felt large and baggy compared to the usual size 4 nappies we use from Tesco. They felt thin but then the excess material seems to bunch up more so still bulky. We didn't have any leaks and their skin felt dry when changing them.

* To be honest nothing thrilled me, they felt a bit like a budget nappy. Functional but boring. Even the design on the nappy was a little bit dull, no nice bright colours. *

* Fine I presume, they didn't seem uncomfortable etc but difficult to tell exactly how they felt about them as they can't talk * *

* Less baggy, a bit of a better fit (but I'm aware that really is baby dependent and what is perfect for one doesn't work for another.) if less baggy I'm sceptical as to if they would have held a lot of liquid due to being very thin compared to our normal nappies. I'd make them look a bit more exciting*

* I wouldn't not recommend they buy them if they were in Morrisons and needed some nappies, but I wouldn't recommend they made a trip specifically to get those nappies.*

We had size 5 pants and they were great. They fit really well, there was no leakage on my 2 year old and there were no skin issues.

I really like pants that have the tab to close up so that was a good feature, and they felt a lot softer than many other brands, especially the cheaper ones.

She seemed comfortable in them.

Maybe some different images on them but honestly they were great as they were.

He was happy wearing the nappies but he has developed a rash around the waist band so a bit uncomfortable.

Yes as they not get a reaction like my child.

We tested the ultra dry nappies in size 4. Performed really really well on a very active 12 month old. No leakage day or night, perfect fit, tabs didn’t come undone, skin stayed dry with no redness or sore bums in sight!

1. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?

The fact they fit so well and stayed fastened. With other brands I’ve found the tabs will come undone easily when the nappy starts to get a bit heavy but these stayed fastened with no issues.

They didn’t complain or cry when wearing them so I assume DC was happy in them.

I wouldn’t change anything they were great.

Definitely and already have.

I tested the Nutmeg ultra dry nappies, and they fit my 5 month old really well! There were no leakage whatsoever, and it didn't sag when full unlike some others. His skin wasn't damp either when the nappy was full.

2. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?
I liked that it still had the wetness indicator for the size 3s, as most only have them till the size 2s. The back was also wider, and in my opinion was able to wrap around baby's body better and thus have a better fit.

3. How did your child feel wearing the Nutmeg nappies?
He can't speak yet haha, but he seems to be comfortable and content in them.

4. If you could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies, what would that be and why?
I noticed that all nappy pants come in size 4 onwards. My boy has learnt to roll over amd is getting really wriggly, so maybe a nappy pants in size 3 would make a big difference!

5. Would you recommend the Nutmeg nappies to others?
Yes! We've actually ran down our nappies when the tester pack came, so at the next grocery run, we're heading to Morrissons to get our Nutmeg nappies!

We tested the size 2 nappies. They were good for aVoiding leakage despite several explosive poo’s!!

The size was a bit smaller than our usual size 2’s so it felt a bit snug around the waist.

I liked the pattern in the front of the nappy my older children did too

My daughter seemed happy in them - hard to judge in a young baby

I would make them wider I think and that would improve the fit also a wetness indicator would be good

If people asked I would say they were good but I will be sticking to Lidl nappies as I think the fit is better

We had the size 6 super dry pants. Fit was a bit looser than other size 6 pants, only use at night and she was wet most mornings, which we've never had before.

She liked the feel of them but didn't like that they didn't hold as much urine as her usual brand.

I tested newborn size 1 nappies on my 1 month old. The fit was perfect, much better than the other supermarket brands and I found they didn't go droopy when full like others do. We didn't have any leakage during the day but did notice baby's bum felt a little damp on a night time when the nappy was on for a little longer. No leakage whatsoever from the sides of the nappy. Baby's Skin was perfectly dry during the daytime changes and we had no nappy rash or irritation from using these

The fit was perfect and a big improvement on other supermarket brands. I'm not sure of the price point of these but if they compare to Tesco/Asda/Aldi then they are great value for money. They were nice and soft and secure enough that we didn't get any leakage from the sides of the nappy. My toddler loved the pictures on the front too! :)

There were 2 or 3 nappies in the pack where the wetness indicator strip didn't change colour even when the nappy was full. This isn't a major deal at my baby's age and the majority of them were fine

Yes I would! I would also switch to these from the other supermarket brand I'm using at the moment.

We tried the nappies in size 3, fit and skin dryness was good but we did have a small amount of leakage overnight.

Fit and general absorbancy was good, the wetness indicator bar worked well and the colour change was easy to see.

We usually use biodegradable nappies so I would like information as to what percentage (if any) of the nappies are made from recycled materials or are biodegradable. I would also like a wider range in designs than just the pink and yellow spots.

We had size 6 nappy pants. They kept my LO dry and the fit was good, tho as with all nappy pants they do seem to become more full quickly than a traditional nappy. They never leaked which is pretty impressive. I dont use them overnight though (I have never used nappy pants over night as they dont seem to hold as much)

They felt soft and fitted well. The designs are nice but subtle so dont show through clothes which I liked.

The 'sticker' on the back that seals the soiled nappy never worked. I think it wasnt long enough?

I think so, they are reasonably priced and performed well

I tested size 5 nappies. They were slightly higher front and back than usual brand. No leakage during the day, skin was dry. They did leak overnight and skin was damp.

At first I wasn't sure about front and back labels but actually as they are very white that was helpful. They are quite slim and not at all bulky.

She was happy in them and no pulling or marking.

I think more colour or pattern would be useful. Toddler stage so nappy changing often needs to be a game. Can you get mummy the nappy with an elephant, can you point to the elephant etc.

Size 6 pants - 4 year old only wears for bed. Absolutely fine, no leaks or complaints but none of the other brands have ever leaked for us.

Size 2 baby nappies. The size seemed quite small in comparison to other brands and we had issues with leaking a few times during the day. I didn’t use them at night as they didn’t have a wetness indicator. I didn’t notice any particular dryness using them.

He’s too young to talk so it’s difficult to tell but he didn’t seem particularly uncomfortable

A wetness indicator would be really helpful. Also a better fit to avoid leaking and the inside didn’t seem as absorbent as other brands
