At the same time as giving their feedback on this thread, testers completed a survey on their experience of testing the Morrisons nappies with their child.

84% would recommend the New Baby Nappies, 83% would recommend the Ultra Dry Nappies and 85% would recommend the Ultra Dry Pants to a friend or family member, therefore Morrisons Nutmeg nappies and pants have been awarded the Mumsnet Rated badge.

This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who have been testing nappies or pull up pants from the Morrisons ‘Nutmeg’ range.

Testers trialled Nutmeg New Baby Nappies, Nutmeg Ultra Dry Nappies or Nutmeg Ultra Dry Pants.

We tried the ultra dry size 4 bappies. They fit very well and left my DS dry and comfortable when used both during the day and at night.

2. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?

They were very absorbant and more than capable of holding in a poo explosion (apparently curry doesn't agree with DS)

We used the newborn nappies on 12 day old DD. (6lb 13 at birth)
They were generally fab although we did have one big poo leak. These are narrower than the other nappies we use.
Generally good.

Size 2 nappies They fitted my 4 month old well. No leaks, even at night when she wears them for 12 hours. Skin felt dry and no irritation.

They felt soft to touch and seemed very absorbent. Minimal design on them which I liked as some other nappies are covered in pictures which shows through white babygros etc.

We tried size 5 nappy pants for my 2 year old son. They fit very well and contained wees very well and coped through the night.

I liked the tab to roll them up with when used. I liked that they were so absorbent.

He felt fine and looked more comfortable than in some other nappy pants.

Maybe make them a slightly wider fit around the bum.

Tested size 4 dry nappies. Went between these and usual Aldi nappies to see how they compared to the usuals. They fit really well and we had no leaks at all, even during the night which we tend to get leaks with all other nappies we’ve tried, including the normal Morrison’s nappies. There was also no dryness, my son has dry and sensitive skin but these didn’t irritate him or make him sore in any way.

1. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies?

I liked the fairly plain design, it just had front and back on and small design. It’s a nappy, I don’t really get all the different patterns and things on them with other brands. Also no leaks and fine for his sensitive skin!

He seemed happy, like I say, no soreness or dryness. They didn’t irritate or bother him and I didn’t have to keep changing it because it kept moving with all his new found movements, which I’m sure he preferred!!

Nothing. They were fine for my son. All the qualities I look for; no leaks, easy to get on and off, no soreness.

We had the size 2 nappies, they did ok for night times but better in the day

They fitted really well and caused no problems. My DS was happy wearing them, he didn't notice any difference from his usual brand which I see as a good sign!

We tried the nappy pants. They fit quite well In the day they were good but at night we had a couple of times where they leaked. But my son does drink during the night.

The pants were size 5 for a two year old.

We tested Nutmeg Ultra Dry Nappies Size 4.the fit was good, there wasn’t any leakage and skin stayed dry throughout use.

I thought they performed really well, better than my current brand. The skin stayed dry and there wasn’t any smell when the nappy w as wet which I’ve found with some other brands.

I think they were happy, their skin looked good and there wasn’t any discomfort or complaints.

The design is a bit plain, if just make it more colourful especially for the bigger sizes/ pants.

I probably would as I thought they were better than some other brands in the market.

We tested the size 5 pants for our 19 month old boy. They looked a lot smaller than our usual brand but they fitted fine, I probably would try the size up next time though. We had a couple of leaks during the day, might be down to the size. He was always dry overnight.

I liked they were soft and seemed comfy for my little boy and also that the design was quite simple, so it didnt show through any of his lighter summer outfits. I also liked the little sticky tab on the back for disposal. The other supermarket brands I've used dont have this.

Nothing I was quite happy with them!

Yes I would and I would also buy them to use in future.

Size 2 however I found these came up smaller than other brands so I couldn't use many as they didn't really fit my daughter properly even though she has only just gone into size 2 nappies I feel these weren't big enough so they were too small so felt she wet through them too quickly.

I feel you should have the yellow stripe indicator like all other brands so you can see it needs changing as it's hard too tell in these nappies until it's too late.

I received the Nutmeg baby nappies for my little one and I was very happy with how they performed in all aspects. They fit my baby nicely, there were no leakages during the day or night, and his skin remained dry around the nappy area. I really liked how I could trust these nappies to keep him dry and how comfortable he felt wearing them!
If I could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies I would suggest having a wetness indicator on the front. Overall I liked these nappies and Would recommend them to others.

We tested the Ultra Pants in size 6 on DS aged (very newly) 4. The fit was really good – I would say they looked small for a size 6, but they were very stretchy. Unfortunately they did leak on some nights, but to be honest we are in a stage with DS where everything does: I don’t blame the nappies!

The design was simple but cute, not too babyish, and I liked how the front and back were clearly labelled. DS could easily pull them up and down himself.

If the actual “captures liquid” bit of the nappy went further round the sides, I guess that would be a bigger area in total in which to catch wee and prevent leaks.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to – I didn’t think they were loads better than Lidl, Aldi, Sainsbury’s etc. – but they were fine.

I tried size 4 Nutmeg ultra dry nappies - I thought it was a good fit and the overall performance was on par with other market leaders.
2. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies? They felt very soft and seemed to be a snug and comfortable fit.
3. How did your child feel wearing the Nutmeg nappies? My child was happy as usual and didn't notice that we had switched from our regular brand.
4. If you could change or improve anything about the Nutmeg nappies, what would that be and why? Maybe make them a little slimmer - would just be easier to travel with.

We tested the size 2 baby nappies.
Compared with the size two nappies I usually use these come up smaller so the fit was a bit too snug which lead to more leaks (usually poo!) And became wetter quicker. I found I had to change them more frequently than usual (she woke up more in the night wearing these as well, so more night time changes) and my little ones bottom got redder than usual wearing them.

She didn't seem as comfortable in them as her usual ones.

A wetness indicator would be helpful, all the other nappies I buy have them, plus a size guide to show whether the nappy size is suitable or if you need the next size up!

Unfortunately, due to my experience with them, no. Sorry.

I tested the new baby nappies in size 2 and I really didn't like them! Fit was really bad, they felt closer to a size 1 than a 2 and were small on my diddy 3 month old, who has plenty of room left in her pampers size 2s. Skin dryness was fine but they gave her a sore bottom.

More realistic sizing, this was the smallest size 2 I've ever bought.

Ultra dry size 6 nappies

I like that they were quite plain so didn't show through light coloured clothing. We had no leaks and my daughters skin seemed dry.

She didn't seem to have any issues.

The fit of them around the waist wasn't great for my chunky girl but we have this issue with a lot of nappies, we need size 6 for width but they are then a bit long. I also thought they got saggy quite quickly.

I think they are comparable to other supermarket nappies so if you already shop in Morrisons then yes

We tested size 5 pants on my very small 23 month old. They fitted quite well, although they are quite narrow so had a habit of riding up a bit across his bottom, which made me worry about what would happen in a poo disaster! No leaks though, phew! Lovely and dry skin even overnight or after a long nap.

1. What did you like about the Nutmeg nappies.

Nice and soft and stretchy, I liked the depth of the waistband, and that we didn’t get any leaks.

Fine, not that he generally had a preference for nappies!

They are very plain and functional looking so I’d definitely expect them to be a low price point, not that that is necessarily a bad thing.
I don’t think the tape on the back is necessary.

1. Would you recommend the Nutmeg nappies to others?

Yes, but not for babies with wider bottoms, as ds is 9th centile and they were very narrow on him.

I tested the Ultra Dry Nappies size 4 on DD 7months they fit well with no leakage or dryness.

I liked how stretchy they were especially the tabs as DD has just started wearing size 4 and they can be a bit big in other brands.

DD seemed happy and it was easier to change her with the extra stretch.

Yes definitely and I would use them myself.

I tested the Nutmeg Ultra Dry pants. Was really impressed with the fit and he was able to have just one nappy overnight, instead of 2. They were brilliant during the day and his skin was dry and they didn't irritate him.

I liked how stretchy they were and that they kept up with my active son!

My son was very happy wearing these and he was comfortable in them, especially overnight. The nappies are very soft to the touch.

I would maybe have some different designs, like dinosaurs, but other than that very happy with them.

Yes, I would definitely recommend them! In fact I have already recommended them to 2 friends and I've been to Morrisons to buy more for my son!

We tested newborn size 2 on 10 week old DD

Fit was good - no leaks and no particular dryness on nappy area.

They had a cute pattern and seemed both softer and thicker/more absorbent than the Sainsbury's nappies we had been using.

She seemed comfortable!

I notice other folk have commented on the wetness indicator - I actually didn't realise there was one, perhaps it's in a different position to where I'm used to in nappies but could be more prominent.

Yes I think so - I'm considering switching from our existing brand!

We tested the newborn nappies and the fit was a bit smaller. it looked quite small and tight around the belly, had to move fasteners further away.

I liked the cotton feel of it nice and soft. great design overall

He looked okay as a newborn but fit was just a let down and did have leakage due to this.

Yes the fit, the size 1 would fit a premature but for full term average weight it needs to be looked at.

Yes I use the other size of pants for 3yr old and have no complains and have already recommended them to family with babies

1. We tried the newborn size 2 for my 8 week old. The fit was quite snug compared to other brands to the point one side came loose during wear. We did have one leakage unfortunately seeping out around the leg.

1. I liked the stretchy back good for comfort.

1. I would improve the sizing they were on the small side and I'd prefer to have the strip to the front to determine if my child was wet.

1. Unfortunately I wouldn't rate these as the best nappies so I wouldn't recommend these to others.
