This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnet users who have been testing Sunbites in Sun Ripened Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream and Cracked Black Pepper flavours.

I was really satisfied with the crunch and bite but we didn’t love the flavours in this house!

The crisp was good but we found the flavours to just be too strong for our taste- particularly for children, the sweet chilli was very spicy!

Not for our household but I would recommend them for others to try (my parents really enjoyed a pack for example!)

They were a little strong for us, a plain variety would have been brilliant or a ‘cool’ flavour that we could dip?

I would buy them as a plain tortilla type snack that I could dip in hummus/guacamole/salsa - as the crunch was amazing, the crisp tasty but the flavours were just a bit too overpowering

I would love to have a ready salted/plain/salt and cracked black pepper flavour

Very satisfied. I have bought them occasionally before so I knew I would like them.

I liked the crunchiness. Flavour was good. Pack design is attractive. 120 calories per pack is good, not too bad for a snack. I like that they're wholegrain.

We don't tend to buy sharing bags, we buy multi-packs, but in principle, yes I would.

I'll eat almost anything. Cheese and onion, maybe, or some sort of tomato flavour, or some kind of variant on vegetable crisps, so involving flavours of beetroot, sweet potato, parsnip etc.

Like the small size of bag, the wholegrain taste. Nice aroma on opening. Really like the lack of fattiness. Bit too sweet though, although DC like that aspect.

Not personally as I don't really eat crisps, but DC and DH like them.

Both went down well, and DC found the chilli not too spicy.

The flavouring was just right, the chilli left a nice heat without being too much. They were a bit too crunchy/dry though.

I was very satisfied with Sunbites, they were delicious!

1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

First of all I liked the crunch of them. They have a very satisfying crunch and work really well on a sandwich. Both types were very flavoursome although for me I think the sour cream one edged it just a little. The kids really enjoyed the flavour and it was a welcome change from salt and vinegar / cheese and onion. If I had to say one thing I disliked I would say that it was the shapes of the crisp. It was ok but reminded me a little bit of a frazzle shape.

I would, and probably over normal crisps due to the greater nutrition.

I thought the flavours were really nice. They definitely packed a punch, which I prefer, nothing worse than eating something flavourless.

I would buy a sharing bag as the whole family enjoyed them and it would be good for lunches to serve a handful of crisps each rather than give everyone a packet each.

I preferred the sour cream flavour and they weren’t as dry as I’d feared. I like the fact they are a relatively healthy option. There aren’t too many in a pack but it means you don’t really feel satisfied after eating a packet

The flavours and they tasted quite fresh. I loved that they had plenty of flavour and a great crunch.

I enjoyed them both. My daughter's enjoyed the sour cream ones, they weren't too sure of the chilli flavour, they had too much of a spicy kick for them, but I loved this!

Probably would buy the sour cream ones as a sharing bag as the whole family enjoyed them. Wouldn't but the chilli ones as I'm the only one who liked them in my house so if be too tempted to eat the whole sharing bag to myself 🤣

Very satisfied! A perfect lunchtime snack and a lot more filling than regular crisps. An easy way to get some grains!

The only thing I didn’t love was the fat content. It kind of takes away from the guilt free feeling that you’ve chosen something healthier. Still a better choice than regular crisps however, due to the grain content.

The ingredients list was understandable and not too long which seemingly backs up their claim of a healthier or more natural product (as far as you can get with crisps!). They had a good crunch and were enjoyable to eat.

However the flavours were a little off - couldn’t quite place it; maybe it was the lack of heavy oil! Preferred the sour cream to the sweet chilli and normally sweet chilli crisps are my go to!

As a picnic / lunch side, but probably not as a snack as they’re not very filling.

Sour cream was good. Sweet chilli was a little funny, both were enjoyable but did leave a taste in your mouth for a long time.

Probably not; they’re more for indulgent / special occasion crisps for groups and I’d class these more as “everyday”.

My favourite other branded flavours are sweet chilli with red pepper or sour cream so I think it would be improving the sweet chilli pack first. I’m not sure what else is on offer but I do like Thai crisps or standard S&V!

2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites? I liked the texture & crunchiness. They were a filling snack without feeling like junk food. The Sun Ripened Sweet Chilli was an enjoyable flavour but the Sour Cream and Cracked Black Pepper just tasted like cheese and onion.

Dc1 (14), Dh & I all enjoyed the sweet chilli flavour but no one liked the sour cream flavour (sorry!)

We all really liked the texture and flavour of the grains, but were disappointed that the calorie and fat content was so similar to regular crisps so it wasn’t actually any healthier

I liked the texture and the flavours, especially the sour cream flavour. My only issue was there weren’t many unbroken crisps in each pack - so they were a bit ‘bitty’ to eat!

Very, I liked them.

The packets were a bit stingy. Although when I checked against a bag of Popchips they were 25g opposed to 23g.

I do feel they are pretending to be healthier than they actually are. Although I often buy popchips sucked in by the less than 100 calories per bag headline when I'm grabbing a meal deal but they compare fairly closely - they just have less in a bag.

I really liked both, the sweet chilli was probably my favourite. What surprised me was that my six year old loved them, she said they were the best crips she has ever had and what an amazing flavour!

I was going to say honey BBQ but see you already do that one! I will have to try it. Just a plain lightly salted would be nice as I like the grain flavour without anything added to it. Or olive flavour would be amazing!

I really enjoyed all the Sunbites flavours we trialled. I especially like how crunchy they are so I would say very satisfied. My husband also liked them. The kids like the sour cream and pepper and slightly salted versions (we bought the other flavours as we buy them anyway) but they aren’t so keen on the other flavours.

I like the shape, texture and flavour. I wish there were more in the pack! Also, as I am trying to be quite eco friendly I would love it if these came in easy to recycle packaging.
