JustineBMumsnet · 13/08/2019 11:50

This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnet users who have been testing Sunbites in Sun Ripened Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream and Cracked Black Pepper flavours.

Here’s what Sunbites has to say: “Things grown in nature are inherently good, so at Sunbites, we keep as much of that natural goodness as possible to turn sun ripened ingredients into easy, tasty little bites of goodness.
We've combined 3 sun-grown whole grains to give you our deliciously crunchy Grain Wave range. Not only are they extraordinarily delicious but high in fibre too.”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the questions below as well as completing the short survey we’ve emailed you.

  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
  2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
  3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
  4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
  5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
  6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

All testers who give their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a ÂŁ300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?

Very, they were thoroughly tested by a 35 year old, 37 year old, a 9 year old and a 3 year old. No complaints and the 3 year old ate some of mine too.

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

I liked the texture as well as the taste. They had a good crunch, which was very satisfying.

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Definitely. My 3 year old had some with his lunch and decided to dip them in hommous. I followed suit, it was a brilliant idea.

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

I liked the sweet chilli the best, and so did my children. My husband preferred the sour cream and black pepper flavour.

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

I wouldn't, I don't like sharing bags as the temptation to eat them all myself is too much. Individual portions suit my family better as we aren't always around at the same time to share a bigger bag together.

  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

I would like more grown-up flavours. I think jalapeno and cheddar would be interesting. The texture of the Sunbites could definitely stand up to stronger flavours. A BBQ flavour would be nice.

  1. How satisfied were you with

Very satisfied, really liked them.

  1. What did you like / dislike about
Sunbites?

I liked that they were different to crisps, they tasted like a really healthy snack due to the texture and they were good with dips as well as on their own.

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Yes. I definitely would.

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

I loved both flavours. They were very different to each other so hard to choose a favourite.

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

Yes. I would prefer a sharing bag to individual bags because I tend to pop a couple of crisps on plate with a sandwich so a bag is too many sometimes.

  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

Something like sea salted or an oniony one

Kittywampus · 25/08/2019 15:14
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?

Quite satisfied

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

I liked the flavours and the texture.

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Yes

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

Everyone liked the sweet chilli ones best. Dd age 6 wouldn't eat the sour cream ones because she doesn't like the taste of black pepper.

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

No, I prefer small packets because it stops me from eating too many and stops the children from fighting if they have their own packets

  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

Salt and vinegar (my suggestion)
Paprika (dp's suggestion)

DreamsInBlack · 26/08/2019 00:51
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?

Mostly satisfied.

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

I like that they are light, with a nice crunch to them when eating. They are a good size and feel like a substantial snack. I also like that they have more fibre than other snacks. The flavours are appealing and the texture is good but I found them quite dry.

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Yes, probably. I would consider them amongst others when looking to purchase snacks.

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

My favourite of the two was the sweet chilli but both had a good strength of flavour. Packed a good taste punch but wasn't overpowering.

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

I don't often buy sharing bags of crisps, preferring to purchase multipacks or regular sized individual packets but I may consider sharing bags occasionally.

  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

Aberdeen Angus and smoked onion, or chilli con carne and lime.

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 26/08/2019 08:43
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?

Very satisfied

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

The crunchiness

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Yes, the sour cream ones. Will buy some for packed lunches. Not the chilli.

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

5 testers in this family! Myself and DS2 loved the sour cream ones. He had seen them before and wanted to try them. None of us liked the red chilli much.

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

Probably not. We don’t tend to buy sharing bags. I keep individual bags of crisps as snacks for the kids, and lunchboxes.

  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

Salt and vinegar, or bacon. Both would work well with the crunchiness

1 How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very satisfied and so was dd

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites? Theyre really crunchy and make a nice change from crisps.
  2. Would you choose sunbites as a snack? I would and have bought them since.
  3. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried? Really enjoyed them although i prefer chilli flavour to have more of a kick.
  4. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not? Yes i would so i could put some in a bowl to reduce the portion size for DD.
  5. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be? I think they would go well with wasabi flavour.
MrsElf · 27/08/2019 16:40
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very. Sunbites were pleasant and filling, so satisfying in both senses of the word!
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Tons of flavour. More filling than most crisps. Charity support (CARE education for girls) was a nice feel good touch. No MSG or artificial flavourings was great to see, and certainly didn't take anything from the taste. High fat, quite high sugar and salt doesn't bother me much, but they're not quite as healthy a snack as I expected from the packaging and marketing. Non-recyclable packaging was quite depressing, and could be easily changed, also the individual packets could be smaller - I felt the portion (small) was about right, but as usual these days more air than crisps inside.
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes. They're great with dips - don't break up as easily as most crisps, and I like that they are fairly high fibre.
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Both were very tasty. The nutty tasting crisps would have overpowered anything subtler, although a nice flavour themselves. (The crisps had a similar aftertaste after the flavouring came off.) The sweet chilli flavour was sweet indeed, so I preferred the sour cream ones.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Maybe for a party or a large group to share. I found them too filling to buy a bigger bag for myself and DH.
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Something Mediterranean- sun dried tomato/olive/garlic like a Provençal stew would be lovely. A mussaman curry would lend itself to the nutty sweet flavour of the crisps. Or, just a scrunch of pepper on the plain crisps.
PestoCaffeinisto · 28/08/2019 09:26

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very satisfied.
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Loved the chilli flavour but, to me, the sour cream were just bland. But saying that, my DP and DS liked them. Disliked that it's wrapped as a healthy snack but when you study the packaging, it's mainly red on the scale.
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes. Satisfying, crunchy and different to my usual snack choice.
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Liked the flavour, as it was not overpowering. Also the crunch of the crisps.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
No. It would be a bit much as a share bag.
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Chicken maybe ...hard to say as it's such a niche snack!

1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites
I was fairly satisfied with one of the flavours, not so keen on the other

2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
They have a nice texture, crispy and not messy on your hands when you pick then up. The negative I felt was the packets were quite small, so not very filling.

3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes, I have already bought another pack for DS to take to work in his lunch.

4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I liked the sour cream and chive, very flavourful. Not keen on the sweet chilli, a bit cardboardy and tasteless for me, which is a disappointment because I love sweet chilli usually.

5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Yes, would be perfect for a picnic.

6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be? Worcestershire sauce, smokey bacon, prawn cocktail, just a few ideas Grin

Yes I would especially the sour cream ones - they were really delicious and I think would go well with houmous or salsa too.
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Both delicious and I liked the sour cream best
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Yes I would as the packets are quite small and I could easily eat three Blush
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you
I would really like a worcestshire sauce option or prawn cocktail.

Quite satisfied. My son loved them
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
They're lower fat that most other crisps and they're nice and crunchy

Possibly, for a change, but I wouldn't change my regular crisps in favour of them
