This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnet users who have been testing Sunbites in Sun Ripened Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream and Cracked Black Pepper flavours.

Here’s what Sunbites has to say: “Things grown in nature are inherently good, so at Sunbites, we keep as much of that natural goodness as possible to turn sun ripened ingredients into easy, tasty little bites of goodness.
We've combined 3 sun-grown whole grains to give you our deliciously crunchy Grain Wave range. Not only are they extraordinarily delicious but high in fibre too.”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the questions below as well as completing the short survey we’ve emailed you.

  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
  2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
  3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
  4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
  5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
  6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

All testers who give their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a ÂŁ300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

2- I really like them and I also thought they tasted nice with some dips.

  • theres nothing I dislike about them

3-yes I will be buying sunbites as my new crisps as there tasty and healthier than other brands.

4-I thought both flavours were flavour some, tasty and nicely baked but would like to try other flavours in the future.

5-- I would definitely buy s sharing bag but I might not be happy to share Blush.

6- I think I few new flavours to try would be .. honey
..tomato and basil
..lemon and pepper
..steak and mushroom

I'm overall satisfied with the sunbite snacks and I already have bought more and shared some with friends who are going to buy.. it's a delicious snack that can be enjoyed with different things and I really enjoyed taking part and sour cream is my favourite flavour.

Cornishqween · 15/08/2019 08:31

Forgot to mention in my post, I am not choosing these at the moment because I'm watching my calories and they come in quite high in comparison with some other crisps. I was quite shocked to see this. But if I wasn't watching my weight I'd probably buy them again.

bumpsadaisy11 · 15/08/2019 08:43
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
They had an amazing crunch & were full of flavour
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Absolutely, the whole family loved them.
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Loved them both, but Sweet Chilli was definitely my personal favourite.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Yes
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Lime & coriander or tikka
cautiousoptimist1 · 15/08/2019 11:59
  1. How satisfied were you with
Quite satisfied.
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
I liked the crunchy texture and that they’re baked. They’re not overly moreish so one pack satisfied. I don’t like the sugar content, containing over 8% of sugar when regular crisps contain up to 2.5%.
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
No as I try to limit sugar.
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I preferred the chilli flavour to the sour cream and pepper which seemed a strange combination to me but was also quite subtle.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
No
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Salt and vinegar or something meaty
poorbuthappy · 15/08/2019 12:50
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very satisfied. So satisfied that I had to bribe the kids to leave me 1 pack of each as I was away on the weekend.
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Surprisingly I liked the sweet chilli ones better than the sour cream. The texture was lovely and overall I (and the entire family) enjoyed them tremendously. The only thing I would prob change is taking out the black pepper and adding onion or chive to the sour cream.
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes - depending on the price, I have also bought the Lidl version to compare and just need to check prices to make sure I get bang for my buck.
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Lovely - see above
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
yes - but only for car journeys as a treat or poss movie nights. Otherwise we don't buy sharing bags at all because then they become individual bags and it all goes to rack and ruin.
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Initially I thought something meaty but actually I'm not entirely sure that would work. So maybe cheese based? Learning towards mini cheddar type taste?
chickensandbees · 15/08/2019 13:10

1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Really liked them!
2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Liked the texture, the crunchiness and the flavours, not as greasy as some crisps which was good.
DD thought the chilli could have been a bit spicier.
3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes especially for the DDs as they seem a bit healthier than normal crisps and they both liked them.
4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Both excellent but DD would like the chilli to be more spicy.
5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Probably not, I see it more of an individual snack. If I was going to buy a sharing bag it would be more likely to be something you can use with a dip.
6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
We have a few ideas:
Cheddar and spring onion
Goats cheese and honey
cucumber and mint
Sea salt and balsamic vinegar

Sidge · 15/08/2019 13:34

1. How satisfied were you with the Sunbites?

DD (12) and I tested them. She liked them more than I did. I thought they were ok. I didn’t find them especially moreish.

2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

I liked the crunchiness, and the texture. I liked they weren’t oily. DD thought they were really tasty but I found them far too sweet and the chilli lacked punch. Too few in the bag, and I felt a little swizzed as they were promoted as a healthy alternative and when you actually look at the nutritional info they’re not that healthy at all. (I appreciate crisps are rarely healthy!)

I did a comparison with some Walkers cheese and onion crisps. The Sunbites have:
10 fewer calories per pack
2g less fat
2g more carbohydrates but 3 times as much in the form of sugars (2.4g of sugars compared to 0.8g in the Walkers)
0.6g more fibre
0.2g more protein
Half as much salt
So way more sugar, and not a huge amount more in terms of fibre. Just seemed rather misleading to me. They’ve swapped fat for sugar.

3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Maybe, I’d throw them in the trolley if the price was right but for DD rather than me.

4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

I found the chilli far too sweet and not punchy enough. The sour cream was nice but needed onion rather than pepper I think. It was rather bland.

5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

No. They’re not the sort of thing I’d put out for nibbles, or eat watching a movie. I’d give them to DD for a snack or in her lunchbox.

6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

Something like paprika, or steak and onion.

Thanks for selecting me to try them, we did enjoy them.

detachablehoof · 15/08/2019 13:35
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Enjoyed them, thank you :)
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Especially enjoyed the sweet chilli flavour, like the fact that they are nice and crunchy and not too greasy. Based on the marketing I assumed they were a healthier alternative to what we normally eat (kettle chips or seabrooks)
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes! Have already bought more of the chilli
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
See above. Found the sour cream ones a bit dusty
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
No, we use sharing bags only when entertaining, and I'd use "proper" crisps then
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Something herby? Rosemary and black pepper? Tomato and basil? Lemon and coriander? Would love to try any of those!
Kittywampus · 15/08/2019 13:59

Just place marking as mine haven't arrived yet

misskatamari · 15/08/2019 15:34
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?

Really satisfied. The whole family enjoyed them.

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?

They felt lighter than normal crisps (not greasy), and the flavours were tasty. The sweet chilli ones were maybe a little sweet for me, but overall we enjoyed both flavours and would buy them again.

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?

Yes I would. They're great to go with lunch or as a snack on their own.

  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?

The whole family enjoyed both flavours. I thought the sweet chilli ones were a little sweet, but they were still enjoyable.

  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?

I probably wouldn't as a sharing bag. I didn't find them very moreish, and a small bag was enough for me.

  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?

Something with paprika

GemmaLouise105 · 15/08/2019 16:01

1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very satisfied, love them!

2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
I love that they're so light and fulfilling whilst not leaving you feeling full. Love all the different flavours they offer too.

3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes - I get them in most weekly shops!

4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I loved both but particularly loved the sour cream & chive. Delicious.

5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Probably - even better for family picnics!

6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Salt & vinegar definitely, I already know they'd be amazing.

Mollypolly2610 · 15/08/2019 16:45
  1. Very satisfied as I thought I wouldn’t like them.
  1. Liked the fact that they are much healthier than a normal packet of crisps and were not greasy. My husband never eats crisps and he tried these and enjoyed them.
  1. Yes I would buy them again - nice with a sandwich for lunch.
  1. I preferred the soured cream and cracked black pepper to the sweet chilli
  1. Wouldn’t buy as a sharing bag as I prefer a small portion, would be hard to put them down!
  1. Cheesey ones!!

Thanks for sending them - lovely treat.

Ratbagratty · 15/08/2019 19:05

How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very everyone that tried them liked them.

  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites? Disliked the amount of sugar compared to another brand with similar flavour (they however where higher fat).
  2. Would you choose sunbites as a snack? Yes
  3. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried? We liked both flavours although found the sweet chilli to be mild unless you are the whole packet in one go so the flavour built.
  4. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not? Yes they would look nice in a bowl
  5. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be? Something cheesy and special
IndefatigableMouse · 15/08/2019 19:57
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very, they seemed like a good portion and tasted good too.
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
I liked the flavour and the high fibre content. Not too calorific.

Nothing to pinpoint on the negative side. I liked one flavour and my husband preferred the other.

  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes I would buy them for a non-chocolate snack!
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I really liked the sweet chilli flavour - hit the right notes for me.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Not sure, I think I prefer the smaller bags. Better for calorie counting and people who like different flavours.
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
No idea!
bobsyourauntie · 15/08/2019 20:48

1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites? Very satisfied, they were crunchy, tasty and different

2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites? We weren't quite so keen on the sweet chilli ones but we liked the sour cream ones. I liked the crunchiness of them and they are perfect for snacks

3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack? I would choose them for a snack at home, or as a packed lunch

4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried? Not so keen on the sweet chilli, but loved the sour cream ones.

5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not? I don't think so, as I think they are nice as a small snack

6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be? I would like something cheese based, or salt and vinegar. I love lime and coriander mini poppadums, so that might be a flavour to try. Cheese and bacon would be a good one too.

Thanks for picking us for this trial, we loved sampling the flavours and will definitely buy some

GriseldaChop · 16/08/2019 07:16
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
I was really satisfied with them, they were nicer than I expected!
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
I liked that they felt like a more healthy alternative to crisps and both the flavours were really good.
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes, I’d choose then as a snack, I liked that they didn’t have too many calories!
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I enjoyed both of them, my husband really like the chilli ones and I particularly liked the sour cream and black pepper.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
A sharing bag would be good for picnics etc but the portioned packs make an easier snack on the move.
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Maybe something like bbq or chicken.
MotherofTerriers · 16/08/2019 11:26
  1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Very satisfied, we all enjoyed them
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Liked the texture, disliked the calorie count - I tend to look for crisps which are under 100 calories a bag (I know its only a tiny difference but still)
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes, but tend to pick lower calorie options
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
We all preferred the sweet chillie but both were nice
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Probably not as I would absent mindedly eat too many
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Salt and vinegar. Or maybe paprika.
Scruffalicious · 16/08/2019 11:59

1. How satisfied were you with Sunbites?
Pretty satisfied - they tasted good and didn't feel too oily.

2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
Not enough in a packet! The bags seemed half empty. I'd rather have had a smaller bag with the same quantity so I didn't feel cheated out of crisps Grin

3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes - they weren't over-filling and I didn't crave more.

4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
Really tasty. Not too salty. I could convince myself that they were a treat instead of a chocolate bar, if I was in the right frame of mind.

5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Yes. I think these would work well as a party snack or TV night nibble.

6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Something with paprika might be nice, or a veggy curry flavour.

chloworm · 16/08/2019 13:41

Very satisfied
  1. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
I really like the texture, the design of the pack and the wholegrain ingredients
  1. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Yes
  1. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I preferred the sour cream flavour. The chilli was good too, but my children were not so keen
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Probably not - it's better as a snack for one person
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Sundried tomato and basil
SuzCG · 16/08/2019 15:08

Thanks for the opportunity to try these!

  1. Yes, I was satisfied with both flavours
  1. I liked the fact that it was a 'me' sized portion snack - some crisps these days come in huge bags... I love the fact they are made with grains and therefore, slightly healthier, whilst still being a treat. Didn't dislike anything - but personally, I think they could just do with a bit more flavour to them - they were both nice, but I'd like them to taste just a little bit stronger.
  1. Yes, I would definitely choose them as a snack - have bought some more already!
  1. As in (2) - liked both flavours but I think you could make them a teensy bit stronger on the flavour front
  1. Not sure about the sharing bag... in our family we all have different tastes when it comes to crisps/snacks so smaller bags work better for us. But actually, if we were having friends/family over, I'd definitely put these out in big bowls, so maybe yes.
  1. Since I think I'd like more taste in my Sunbites a new flavour would need to be strong - seasalt & balsamic vinegar or maybe chorizo & pepper
Reindeerssmellbetter · 16/08/2019 15:52

They were good, i preferred the sour cream one.
  1. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
Probably not they're better as a small snack i don't think i would want to eat a share bag of them. They don't feel like enough of a treat.
  1. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Maybe salt and vinegar.
BumWad · 16/08/2019 21:57
