1. How satisfied were you with the Sunbites?
DD (12) and I tested them. She liked them more than I did. I thought they were ok. I didn’t find them especially moreish.
2. What did you like / dislike about Sunbites?
I liked the crunchiness, and the texture. I liked they weren’t oily. DD thought they were really tasty but I found them far too sweet and the chilli lacked punch. Too few in the bag, and I felt a little swizzed as they were promoted as a healthy alternative and when you actually look at the nutritional info they’re not that healthy at all. (I appreciate crisps are rarely healthy!)
I did a comparison with some Walkers cheese and onion crisps. The Sunbites have:
10 fewer calories per pack
2g less fat
2g more carbohydrates but 3 times as much in the form of sugars (2.4g of sugars compared to 0.8g in the Walkers)
0.6g more fibre
0.2g more protein
Half as much salt
So way more sugar, and not a huge amount more in terms of fibre. Just seemed rather misleading to me. They’ve swapped fat for sugar.
3. Would you choose sunbites as a snack?
Maybe, I’d throw them in the trolley if the price was right but for DD rather than me.
4. What did you think of the Sunbites flavours you tried?
I found the chilli far too sweet and not punchy enough. The sour cream was nice but needed onion rather than pepper I think. It was rather bland.
5. Would you buy Sunbites as a sharing bag or not?
No. They’re not the sort of thing I’d put out for nibbles, or eat watching a movie. I’d give them to DD for a snack or in her lunchbox.
6. If Sunbites could launch a new flavour, what would you like it to be?
Something like paprika, or steak and onion.
Thanks for selecting me to try them, we did enjoy them.
