This is the feedback thread for Mumsnetters with children aged 5-10 who tested out the Tesco F&F school uniform range. Each tester was given a £20 Tesco voucher to go into store and buy uniform for their 5-10 year olds and have been testing out the uniform the last few weeks.

Here’s what Tesco F&F has to say: “Tesco uniforms are our best uniforms yet and with features such as reinforced knees on trousers, As-New technology, Teflon coating (eco-friendly) and much more, we’re confident that they will last and last and last.”

Testers please answer the following questions:

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

All testers who leave their feedback on this thread and fill in the short feedback survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Tesco voucher!

Thanks

- Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?*
I couldn't get everything I needed. I normally budget around £50 for BTS shop. My boys go through trousers and shirts like water so always buy several pairs.
Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
Range was good sizes were fine
- Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?*

In my experience (and we have tried the whole spectrum of uniform providers, no matter what I spend I have usually had to buy more uniform by November. Fingers crossed these last a bit longer.
- Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
I did not talk to any of the staff
Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Fit was good although I usually buy a couple of sizes bigger then my child's actual age anyway.

- How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
I was very impressed I would buy again

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20?

Not everything, as the store didn't have the summer dresses that I needed

How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

Around £40

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

It was pretty comprehensive but limited sizes available

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

They should hopefully last the year -difficult to predict!

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

Didn't need to

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

It fits well and she says that it is comfortable

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

The price was very good, will see about quality and if comparable, would buy again.
Thanks for letting us try it!

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

Unfortunately not. At the rate Toby goes through his school clothes during the week, plus shoes and PE kit it wasn't possible. I think it'd be closer to a £50 spend for the initial back to school shop. Based on last year we spent around £100 on school uniform/shoes/lunch box/PE kit and so on.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

Yes they had Toby's sizes and school colour and the range offered was good.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I would expect they'd probably last for the first term, mostly due to wear, staining or growth.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No, I knew what I was going in for.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

It fit really well, much better than other brands we've tried over the course of the year. Toby appeared comfortable and could move about it in freely.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

The sizing was much better than other brands and it washed much better, although it did dry a little stiff. Unfortunately it did succumb to the whiteboard marker stain which is impossible to get out of anything.

I would absolutely buy from here again and again. The price for the quality is fantastic.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I managed to get everything except yellow polo shirts for pe or the summer dresses in my little ones size.
I usually spend about £45 per child on their back to school uniform.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

There was a good range available in the second Tesco store I went to, but I was still not able to some of the sizes I needed especially in the summer dresses.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

They were surprisingly good quality clothes, so I expect them to be used until they are grown out of, or at least 9 months out of 12.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

I did not speak to any staff about the back to school range.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

The uniform I purchased fitted well and was able to withstand general messy play and activities. My child did not complain about them being uncomfortable.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I have purchased school uniforms from Aldi and asda before, and I would compare the Tesco quality of clothes to the asda quality, which are generally long lasting and comfortable. I would definitely buy it again if it was suitable priced.

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I would normally spend more than £20, apart from what I have to buy direct from school and shoes.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
No, I was only able to get 1 pack of 2 tshirts and 1 pack of 2 shorts.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
I dont expect them to last long, the shorts are very thin, see through thin and the tshirts stained on first use
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No, I didnt see any staff in the clothing area.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Son said it was comfortable, tshirts felt softer than other brands.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

Its ok as a backup, I like to have one top and bottoms for everyday so they make a good 'friday' outfit,

loopsngeorge · 24/07/2018 16:34

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
Yes easily, but I was only buying summer dresses and socks. I buy in small amounts throughout the year, so £20 would be more than I would normally spend, unless I was buying one of the hideously overpriced cardigans that the school uniform supplier sells!

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
Good range of summer dresses. I didn't look closely at the shirts etc, but my experience of boys shirts is that they never have the size you need.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
Only when she grows out of them. Zips and material all look fine.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No, I had no need to.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Yes very comfortable. She is a tall 9 year old but the 10-11 size fitted very well. She is too old now, but I thought the summer playsuits were a great idea, I'd never seen them before.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
Yes I would buy it again. To be honest it didn't seem any different to any other summer dress.

Thanks very much for the voucher, it was much appreciated.

Thing101 · 24/07/2018 16:50

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child? I got the basic clothes - trousers and shirts, but no sweatshirts (as not available) and would not have had enough for shoes or PE kit.

Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed? It was ok. I had the last of the trousers in that size. But quite a good selection for just before end of term.

Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these? Well the items are good so we'll see, I guess about 6 months, depending on how the shirts last as I find the white shirts very hard to keep clean.

Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range? No, I didn't speak to any staff, other than to ask where the uniform was.

Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in? Yes it was fine.

How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again? It was very similar to others I have bought. The trousers seem quite tough so if they last well I will def buy again. The shirts are a good price so I'll probably buy again.

morphed3 · 24/07/2018 17:00

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
No, I usually buy enough outfits for one week and wash everything together at the weekend. However, Tesco definitely offer good value for money and I would have been able to get substantially more for my £20 than I would elsewhere.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
Unfortunately not. I went in store and found only one skirt into my daughters size. I looked online but found even less options available.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
The items I bought have a special Teflon stain proof coating and the material is thick and of good quality I would therefore expect them to last for two years. I will also be able to hand them down to my second child but I’m not sure they’ll last to my third!
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

I asked if there were any more sizes available and a member of staff told me that everything was out.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Because of the thick, good quality of the material at first it looked like the skirt was wearing my daughter. After a wash it softened up and is now much more comfortable for her to wear.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the skirt and will definitely be buying more in the future. I found the shirts needed a bit more of an iron than the ones I usually buy so I probably won’t be buying them again.

mummytosophia · 24/07/2018 17:03

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I couldnt get everything for £20. I buy the school branded sweatshirts and cardigans separately. I would say I got the majority of the basics but not everything, shoes, bag, jacket and stationery etc.

Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed? Yes there was a good range in store and plenty of the smaller sizes which can sometimes be difficult to get. I managed to get all the sizes I needed.
Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
The quality seems quite good and on a par with M&S. It seems to have washed well so far and is easy to iron which is a bonus! I'm hoping they will last until at least next year and dont want to be replacing them before the end of this year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range? No I didnt see anyone in store.
Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in? Yeah it fitted well although a little bit generously sized. Not too big a problem though with the adjustable buttons How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again? Seems decent enough quality and choice wise. I usually do the online M&S 20% off event and get some cashback. Clubcard points are always good though. I would say overall there doesnt seem to be much difference in quality compared with M&S.
carz1985 · 24/07/2018 17:07

Could you get everything you needed for £20? No I couldnt as like to have stuff for everyday

How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child? About £100 depending if iv picked anything up on sales ect for aldi when they reduce uniform.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed? No they didn't have what we needed instore which wasn't good even looked online and nothing. The sizes I needed for my daughter they didn't have in summer dresses. So ended up with grey pinefore dresses
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these? Not sure to be honest
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range? No we didn't
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in? Yes fit ok and they where comfortable in it
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again? I normally get aldi, matalan or asda stuff which has always been really good and so cheap from aldi but a fantastic quality. Tescos quality seem good but with not being able to get what I wanted, I'm not sure if i would buy it again for the fact my nearest one with clothes is a 30min drive away and they didn't have much in.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
No, I brought tights, dress and tshirt. For one day it would be ok, but I would need 3 sets of that.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
Rage was quite good, I did check it online too, but realised that they don’t sale clothing anymore.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
Might last for whole year, but would usually get fresh set every 6 month
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No I didn’t, could see only staff at tills
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Yes, fits very well.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
Would say it’s the same, price and quality Yes I will buy it again
Mummytwo78 · 24/07/2018 17:13
  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

No, I couldn’t. I was attempting to buy some blue check summer dresses and some grey skirts, basic primary items to go with school logoed items.
I normally shop online at John Lewis or marks and Spencer’s or in store at Morrisons and can just about get what I need for £20-30

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

The store did not carry any of the sizes I needed. Tesco direct not an option anymore!
Staff couldn’t help as ordering in certain sizes isn’t an option either. Most unhelpful.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

Tesco items looked ok but can not state whether they will wash and wear well as unable to buy anything for my daughter.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

Yes, they scanned items to check if any in store or in the back. The customer service team explained no more tesco direct and were unable to order items in for me they just advised to keep coming back to check availability as some items such good value people were bulk buying them.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Again can not comment on fit.
As sizes are always out of stock.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I would definitely buy If i happened upon the right sizes when in store as the available items looked good and were very well priced.

shatteredstudentmum · 24/07/2018 17:31
  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I got 4 shirts and 2 pairs of trousers, would usually get 6 shirts and 3 trousers.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
No, sizes were limited in 8-9 boys.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these? Usually end up replacing shirts several times but expect trousers to last all year.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Trousers were far too wide, I usually get slim fit from m&s but didn't seem any slimmer options. Shirts fitted but he wouldn't wear until I'd washed them as they were very stiff and uncomfortable.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
I have had Tesco uniform before but I am not as happy with it this year and probably will go elsewhere for the rest I need.
STARE2016 · 24/07/2018 17:32

1 - Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I spent nearly the full £20 but couldn't get everything I needed. Range was rubbish and so I had to buy a few items in larger sizes. I would normally spend approx £40 in the summer but then top up with bits as needed throughout the year.

2 - Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items?

The range was terrible in my local store, so drove to a much larger store and another appalling range. No summer dresses in the colour of the local schools at all. All other items were low on stock or had none in 9-10 either, had to buy several items in larger sizes to put away. Boys selection seemed better than girls.

3 - Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

Polo shirts shrunk in the wash (40) so will need replacing soon or they will be too short.

Skirts - unable to comment as too big

Pinafore - unable to comment as too big

Other items - unable to comment as non available

4- Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

I asked staff in both stores to check for further sizes, colours etc. Both did but didn't offer help/advice when they couldn't find any.

5- Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Polo shirts were scratchy according to my daughter

6- How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

Tend to buy from M&S who always have a large range in store. Will be going back to it as wasn't impressed with Tescos range at all and it's put me off trying again. Even if the items are amazing quality, if I cannot get them easily then I don't have time to chase around to find them

TweetleBeetlesBattle · 24/07/2018 17:45

I couldn't get everything because if the stock levels. I got socks and dresses and polo shirts. The dresses were great, washed well, didn't need ironing and held their shape and pleats well. I'm sure the polo shirts shrunk in the wash. Socks were fine.

Stock levels meant I didnt get pinafores in her size.

I would normally spend fourty pounds plush shoes, but I like to have a whole weeks worth.

I didnt see anyone to talk to about them, but I also didnt feel the need to find anyone.

I think the quality was great for the price, I would size up in the polo shirt if i bought them again though. They fit well and seem robust and wash well.

I would buy it again but would love to be able to buy it online rather than make the trip for out if stock items.

PickledWilly · 24/07/2018 18:49
  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I would need to spend at least double this, plus school shoes from Clark's. This would include polo shirts, cardigans, tights, socks, pinafores, trousers, plimsolls and sports shorts.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

The selection available in the nearest Tesco superstore was appalling. I could only get two packs of polos, one dress, some cycling shorts and socks in my daughters size. I do think that this product test happened at the wrong time - before uniform was restocked for September.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

The dress is lovely - great material, fits well and looks smart. It is non iron and the pleats stayed perfect. The dress will last at least a year. The cycling shorts only came in 5-6 or 7-8, I chose 5-6 for my skinny 6 year old and she is already saying they feel uncomfortable. The polo shorts looked great the first time they were worn but they were badly stained and have shrunk in the wash. Usually vanish and sunlight gets all stains out of polos however these are not salvageable. The socks are great.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

I did not I am afraid.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

The dress yes, the rest, no.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I usually buy from M&S and Sainsbury's. I would definitely buy the dresses and the socks from Tesco in the future, and plan to buy from there before September. The rest I will stick to trusty M&S.

imbe123 · 24/07/2018 18:52

Could you get everything you needed for £20?

No there wasn't everything in store and I usually spend more than £20 on school uniform.

How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

Between £50 and £60 not including shoes.

  • Was there a good range available in store?

The range was ok I couldn't get the polo shirts or PE stuff.

Could you get the specific size items you needed?
Yes

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I hope they will last the year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No

  • Did the uniform fit well?
Yes it was a good fit.

Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Yes.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past?

It compared well although I prefer marks and Spencer's cardigans.

Would you buy it again?

Yes.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
No I wouldnt be able to. Usually spend around 50 not including logo stuff or shoes.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
I'm not sure if the trial timing was off but by the time my vouchers arrived there was very little left in the big tesco extra. I struggled to find the right colours and sizes and I have 3 children. I noticed in our local tesco last night they were putting back to school displays out. So much more choice, but only one day of term left! I ended up buying the only pack of trousers in dark grey in my sons size.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
Probably before sept as the size choice was so limited. The fabric didn't feel quite as nice as our usual brand.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No I didn't.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
The trousers fine for now though can't imagine lasting. The waists always seem to be large if you get the length you need.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
I would always go to marks for trousers as they offer a long length. Would use tesco again for tights socks etc as good value and for trousers as an emergency shop.

Thank you for choosing us.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I didn't manage to get shoe size within the £20 but I would usually get these from a specialist shop and spend much more. I managed to get the majority/basic uniform for £20 but will need to spend more to get duplicates which are needed due to wear and uniforms getting dirty

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

Yes but as school hadn't yet broke up they will no doubt be getting more in over the holidays ready for the new term

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

When my daughter grows out of them instead of when they wear out

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

I didn't in this occasion but in the past have been very helpful

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Yes very well. My daughter felt nice in the pinafore dresses

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

Very similar to other brands but just as good if not better. The good customer services makes it a benefit if buying from Tesco over other brands

lemonsmum · 24/07/2018 19:46

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I could not get everything I needed I would usually buy 5 of each item to last a year.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

I was a bit disappointed with the range available in store I visited a Tesco extra and my local store to find the items I needed and in the right size. There wasn't much choice in sizes or in styles just one in the item/colour and it wouldn't be the style I would usually pick from other stores.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces
you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

The uniform seemed good quality cardigans felt very soft I hope they would last the whole school year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

I did ask for help in a extra store for more sizes I just got told no I didn't find them very helpful or knowledgeable which is unusal as I usally find tesco staff helpfull in the past. I went to a different smaller store and got the items I was originally looking for.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

The skirt had the adjustable waist which my daughter needs and made it fit well and stay on cardigans also fit well. The summer dresses fit well however the zip on the inside scratched my daughter's skin during the day.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

Tesco uniform is half the price of the uniform I usually buy from m&s and seems good quality for the price. I wouldn't buy a whole years of uniform from Tesco as they don't stock the styles I prefer and lack sizes. However I would definitely buy any bits we need throughout the year to replace missing grown out of uniform.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

No, i got 2 pair of trousers and 4 polo t-shirts not including shoes as my ds has to have specific shoes for school i normally spend about £40-£50

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

No had to go to a different store as they didn't have the size i needed for my ds

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I hope they will last the whole year as they have reinforced knees on the trousers so hope they will last

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No i didnt found what i was looking for

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

It fitted lovely and was comfortable to run around in

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

The uniform is very similar to Asda , i dont think i would buy again as would have to keep going to shops to get sizes that i needed if they didnt have it where as i can buy it online at asda and get it all in one go

No I couldn’t, in fact I spent less as the stock was fairly poor in my local store.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
No the range was poor to be honest. Our school has to wear a specific colour skirt which Tesco don’t stock, therefore we tried to find summer dresses, but the only ones available were very small ages.

Shirts, have washed up ok so I’m expecting them to last a fair while. We will be starting the new school year with them, so time will tell.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No as there wasn’t anyone around!
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Shirts were quite big which my kids prefer. Lots of room to grow and run around in.

I personally buy M&S for uniform, and this uniform doesn’t do too bad against it, so I would choose to buy again.

I was able to buy a white shirt pack (for girls) and socks. I would have bought a skirt but they didn’t have. I would normally spend around £50 but that would include school logo cardigans.

The quality was good for a school shirt and what I would expect and want. I would rather pay less and not be too worried about the cost of replacing. I would expect it to last 6 Months or so.

There wasn’t a great selection in the Tesco Colny and to be honest I was a little disappointed.

I did ask for help to find a school skirt but they only had tunics which my daughter (age 10) won’t wear.

The shirts seem to fit well and the socks also and so far I am happy with the purchases. I normally buy from John Lewis and pay slightly more but I don’t see much of a difference in the quality so I think I’ll try to get the rest of the uniform from Tesco!

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

No, but I like to have a good back up of spare and clean uniform at all times. I normally shop at M & S for uniform, so the last batch I bought cost nearly £50.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

There wasn’t much of a range on display, but bearing in mind I went into the store two weeks before the end of term I wasn’t expecting a brilliant selection! What they had was available in a wide range of colours, my daughter was furious when I wouldn’t buy her a summer dress in purple though!

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I’m fairly confident that they’ll need to be replaced because they’ve been outgrown rather than because they’re no longer presentable. Some pieces have washed better then others though - one style of summer dress still looks brand new, however the playsuit I bought washed brilliantly the first time but from then on started shedding loose threads and has ironed into a rather bizarre texture (almost lumpy).

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

The staff were brilliant and were happy to go and look for items that weren’t on the shop floor in the size I was looking for.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

The dresses fit well, although the ties (to tie around the waist to make a bow) are far too short. I realise that this is probably a safety issue, however my daughter is incredibly skinny for her age and the bow is nothing short of pitiful. The playsuit is probably a little short in the body - I went up a size and it’s already looking slightly uncomfortable 😳

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I think I will probably buy some pieces from Tesco in the future, one of the dresses is absolutely adorable but I might stick to M & S for playsuits as they’re much roomier. Unfortunately it’s been far too hot to try out the cardigan I bought, but that has washed well and, unsurprisingly, still looks brand new....
