This is the feedback thread for Mumsnetters with children aged 5-10 who tested out the Tesco F&F school uniform range. Each tester was given a £20 Tesco voucher to go into store and buy uniform for their 5-10 year olds and have been testing out the uniform the last few weeks.

Here’s what Tesco F&F has to say: “Tesco uniforms are our best uniforms yet and with features such as reinforced knees on trousers, As-New technology, Teflon coating (eco-friendly) and much more, we’re confident that they will last and last and last.”

Testers please answer the following questions:

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

All testers who leave their feedback on this thread and fill in the short feedback survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Tesco voucher!

Thanks

I bought my daughter some new school shoes with my voucher.
Choice was very limited and there were no clothes in her size to buy.
She loves the shoes and finds them incredibly comfortable. The photos show day one, and the last day of term (today). She's very heavy footed and tends to scuff her shoes easily. I was amazed to find that the shoes are as good as new after 2 weeks.

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I managed to get a pair of shoes with the voucher, which cost £19. I tend to spend about that price on shoes, and will usually expect to get a couple of polo shirts, a skirt, a pinafore and a pair of trousers for £20.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed? No, choice was very limited and the only thing that I could find which was suitable for my daughter were the shoes.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these? I hope they will last at least half a term.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range? No, I didn't discuss the purchase with anyone.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in? Yes, she has worn them every day and they were comfortable from day one.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again? Good quality, the shoes are particularly impressive. The girls have worn the summer zip up dresses for the past half term and they have lasted very well indeed. I will definitely buy the uniform from Tesco again.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child? I buy 5 of everything so wouldn't expect to get all I needed for £20! You could certainly buy one whole outfit for £20 though - tops, trousers, socks etc
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed? No there was hardly any uniform available in my local store. I went again today and they were clearly in the process of pulling out all the uniform now. There was lots and lots of girls items but nothing much yet for the boys
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these? I naturally expect to replace items at the end of each term and would expect Tesco uniform to last that long
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range? I didn't speak to anyone
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in? To be honest the choice in store was really poor so we bought polo shirts, PE shorts and school socks which were all absolutely fine and comfortable to wear. From what I observed of the trousers I don't think these would fit Lucas. He's a "solid" boy and the level of elastication on Tesco's "bottoms" is nowhere near as generous as it used to be. All fine and dandy if you need to reduce the waistband but not much good for a more generously proportioned child ;-)
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again? I tend to buy uniform in the supermarkets as much as I can and Tesco is certainly comparable to it's competitors in terms of price and quality. I would definitely continue to buy all our polo shirts, PE kit etc in Tesco but need to look elsewhere for bottoms.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I couldn’t get everything but got a good range including cardigans trousers and tshirts. Shoes are something I tend to opt for a higher end option.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
My local store was very disappointing- I wouldn’t have been able to spend £20 on items in my daughters age range - I ended up going to a larger store 20 mins drive away - the other store had a large range although it was scattered throughout the clothing section - not all together which seemed strange - but there was a larger range of items and sizes
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
I’m hoping these will last at least 2 terms as long as we don’t have any growth spurts / loose any!
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
I didn’t speak to any staff
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
The uniform did fit well / seemed true to size - my girl has just turned 7 and is just creeping into 7-8 clothes - they were a little big but I know my girl is small She seemed happy to wear the uniform (the trousers were way too long so we’ll have to wait to try them!) The uniform also washed well
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
I have brought from Sainsbury’s Asda and Marks and Spencer’s in the past - I wasn’t very keen on the trousers on offer and much prefer the Sainsbury’s woven trousers as they have a softer feel. My girl is very much a tom boy and would much rather wear shorts than a dress or skirt (even shorts with tights in the winter) I was disappointed with the range of girls shorts - I didn’t see any yet Sainsbury’s and Asda stock them

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
We got quite abit nearly all the basics, just need to get some extra more when we do the washing up . I bought polo shirts , trousers socks and shorts .

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
Yes we could find the size that we needed easily and for the range the store that we went to its not quite big so I think the range was limited .
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
I usually replace them around every 3-4 months depend on the quality of the uniform .
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
Yes talked to one of them she was really helpful as a mum recommending things .
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Yes he loved it it was very comfortable for him he prefers it to m&s one .

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
We usually bought uniform from M&s but he prefers this one more and its a lot cheaper .

-Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

With my £20 voucher I purchased:

  • School shoes @ £12.50
  • 1 pack of white polo shirts(2 pack) @ £3.50
  • 1 pack of cycling shorts(2pack)@ £4
  • black plimsolls @ £3.00

I still need to purchase:

2 grey pinafore dresses
Another pack of polo shirts
A white pe tshirt
Tights / socks.

I expect this will cost approximately £25.

School requires there own cardigan which can only be purchased from them @ £12 each of which I'll buy 2.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

Unfortunately not no. There wasn't a huge choice & what there was seemed to just be old stock, so lots of odd sizes / styles mixed up together. I had to really search through to find anything which was time consuming & annoying.

I had planned on purchasing pinafores with my £20 voucher but they had none. There was a couple of skirts but my daughter doesn't like these but there was none in her size anyways.

The shoes were slightly better organised but I couldn't actually reach the top shelves so wasn't able to even look at most of them.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

My daughters last school shoes were from Tesco and lasted around 6 months, which is fair considering the low price. I'm hoping the shoes we bought this time around will last a similar amount of time. My daughter has worn the new shoes for 2 weeks & they are still in an excellent condition.

I am hoping the pe kit will last for the whole year as it's only worn a couple of times a week.

I can imaging the polo shirts will need replacing in 6 months, as they tend to go grey, shrink or just get stained. Over the 2 weeks of use the polo shirts has faired well, they wash nice & still look bright with no shrinkage either.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

There was no staff around. I would have liked help reaching the shoes that were to high up, but there was no one around to help.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Yes. Everything was true to size & fitted my daughter well. My daughter was pleased with all the items & said she found them comfortable to wear.

She particularly liked the star on the school shoes.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again

I have bought tesco school clothing in the past and will continue to do so. I tend to purchase uniform from the big 3 supermarkets, depending on price / offers / availability. I find the supermarkets all have a similar quality and I am usually pleased considering the low prices.

Its a shame that tesco do not do uniforms online anymore as the other two supermarkets do. I can order everything I need from them online & get it all delivered to store for free, which is certainly less hastle.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
No. My son is 10 so all items are a bit more cost wise, to buy his complete uniform at tesco would probably cost £30-40 plus an extra £30 for his logo items.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
No. Very frustrating as only able to get his p.e trainers and socks. Limited school uniform at my local Tesco with no shirts/trousers in his size. No option to buy online so I will go elsewhere to buy all in one place like asda.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
Hoping both te trainers and socks last all school year.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
I didn't speak with or see any staff in the clothing area.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Both items fit fine and seem comfy so far.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
Quality wise on par with asda/sainsburys but not as good as next/m&s. Down to availability I will get my uniform for elsewhere in the future.

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I couldn't get everything for £20 I would normally spend about £40/50.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

There wasn't a great deal of choice in my local store (Barnstaple) the section seemed pretty small and was hard to find in the clothes department. It seemed like there was more sale/summer clothes and the uniform section was forgotten at the back of the store.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I think they seem good quality for the price. I would hope they would last a school year depending on growth spurts.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

There were no staff around to speak too.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
It fit pretty well. The only thing I thought was out was the sizing on the girls skirts. They were huge. I ended up buying a 3-4 for my tall 5 year old and even that seemed big
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

Good especially the polo shirts which were very good value for money & my daughter loved the socks that match the summer dresses. I would buy again.

Thanks

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I was able to buy a pack of 2 polo shirts, a skirt, cardigan and summer dress so very impressed. I would need to spend another £20 I think to get extras and would easily spend £40 - £50 on new uniform if it all needed replacing.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

The range was a little disappointing and there wasn’t much in my daughter’s size unfortunately but perhaps more will come in over the summer break as I doubt that many parents are buying for September already.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I wouln’t expect to replace the skirt or dress but polo shirts and cardigans maybe half way through the school year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No, did not speak to anyone

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Unfortunately my daughter is a bit between sizes at the moment. The skirt, polo shorts and cardigan are slightly big so they hang well and will last the next school year. The summer dress won’t last till next summer and comes up a little short. It also has those flower buttons which I think are tricky for younger ones when having to take on and off for P.E.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

It compares well and the sizing is better than other brands I’ve tried. The materials used seem good and wash well. I will definitely buy again.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 20/07/2018 13:07

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
£20 bought us a pinafore playsuit, a skirt, four polo shirts (and a pack of ice-creams Blush. That's not a full set for us - we need 5 polos, at least three skirts/trousers/playsuits and at least three jumpers/cardies. I could have bought one of everything had there been jumpers/cardies in stock

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

Sadly, no. The Tesco Extra we visited (Blackpool) had very little stock, and most was black when we needed grey. Lots of 10+ sizes and I was shopping for my 7yo.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
The polos were fine - no issues, and so will be kept until grown out of. Likewise the skirt. The playsuit however bobbled after just one wear/wash/line dry, which I haven't experienced before. It was a softer material than the skirt.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
No, but to be fair I didn't try as we didn't want to spend long in store.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
The fit was excellent. The skirt hung well and was smarter than others I've bought in the past. Plus it had pockets which is rare. The playsuit looked really cute and was very practical with a zip down the front. Everything was comfortable.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

The polos were fine. The skirt was really good quality and looked more expensive than it was. Smarter than ones we've bought in Sainsbury. Would buy again. I wish I could recommend the playsuit as it was unusual - very cute and practical and DC2 loves it - but the bobbling was considerable.

Could you get everything you needed for £20? No, but I buy more in case I dont get chance to wash during the week.
How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child? £100. Including shoes

  • Was there a good range available in store? Yes, dresses, pinafores, shirts etc
Could you get the specific size items you needed? All sizes available
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these? 6 months depending on growing
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range? No
  • Did the uniform fit well? Sizes were a good fit.
Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in? Yes, no complaints
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Very similar in fit/quality to other brands
Would you buy it again? Yes
Sixgeese · 20/07/2018 13:23

Could I get everything I needed for £20?
No, even if the first store had any uniform in the right size or colour for my nine year old daughter, it would have cost more than £20 to get what she needed.
In the second store I bought her a green gingham playsuit, a green cardigan, green trimmed ankle socks and with the £4 left I got a pack of white shirts for her older sister.

Was there a good range in store?
NO!
I live about 10 minutes drive from the large 24 hour Lea Valley Tesco Extra, and there was nothing to buy in the right colours let alone the right size.
The following day I drove in the opposite direction and got the playsuit and cardigan but it was lucky my DD is 9 as that was the only size they had.
From my experience while I might pick up uniform from Tescos while doing the weekly shop I won't be going there to do a uniform shop.
When do you expect to have to replace?
The items I bought seemed of good quality, I would have preferred the age 10 - 11 the in playsuit as the age 9 - 10 only just fit my 9 year old daughter (and my DD is one of the shorter girls in her class) so I expect that she will have grown out of it before next Summer term. I am hoping she gets a bit of use out of it in September.

Were the staff helpful / knowledgeable?
I asked a member of staff in the Lea Valley store if they had any more uniform as I had been asked to do a product test on it. I was told that was all they had and maybe try Ponders End they might have some. I didn't feel helped and on a hot Sunday afternoon I replied I am not going there on the off chance they might have something in the right colour size.

Did it fit well, was it comfortable?
While it fitted there was no growing room but it was comfortable and I think she would like one in a bigger size next year.

Conclusion
I would buy again, but I wouldnt think let's go to Tescos we need to buy new uniform.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

£20 was not enough to get everything but I did manage to get a few stuff. I would typically buy double just so my son has one spare as kids tend to get their clothes dirty quite often. Shoes were bought separately as an extra. He will aso be needing the school branded jumper and tshirt. However i did pick up some plain t-shirts as spare. I would easily need to spend £40+ to get the entire back to school range.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

There were several different options available in store but not in all sizes/colours. I did manage to dig out 1 trouser in the preferred size and style. T-shirts were available in all ranges with the required colour and size in stock in store.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

On the proviso my son does not outgrow it I'm hoping they will last the whole school year if not atleast the majority of the school year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No I did not need to ask or talk to staff as I found what I wanted.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Yes it did generally fit well. My son is skinny and has a tiny waist so adjustable waists definitely did help. He looks smart in it and is comfortable wearing and playing in them.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I dont feel we have tested it long enough to comment on the wear and durabilty however thus far I am quite satisfied with the quality. Usually I would go for M&S or Next brands (only when on sale) which seem a bit thicker and better quality but Tesco was at a much lower cost, sizing accurate, so I would definitely consider buying from here in future. I have also bought from Sainsburys but the trousers have torn at the knees.

  1. Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I managed to get polo shirts and school summer dresses and socks. There wasn’t enough stock for everything. I tend to spend £40 on uniform but not including shoes.

  1. Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

There wasn’t much stock in my store or sizes. Not much variety.

  1. Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these.

I expect the clothes to last at least 10 months.

  1. - Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range.

No I didn’t as I knew what I needed.

5.Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

The uniform fitted really well. My child had no complaints. She loved wearing with no problems.

-6. How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I love F&F uniform. It washed well. It’s good quality. I find it in the top 3 for my uniform buying. Def buy it again and again.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 20/07/2018 13:41

Could you get everything you needed for £20?
No but as PP have said we buy quite a bit of uniform to save having to wash it every night. My DD is a muck magnet.
How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
DD has a branded school sweatshirt so that ups the cost for us approximately £70 ex shoes.

  • Was there a good range available in store?
The first store that I went to had very little in stock and the staff had no idea when the delivery was coming. The second branch had just recieved their delivery but even then one of the staff went to get polo shirts for us from stockroom and only 2 in our age range had been delivered. Could you get the specific size items you needed? Yes in the second store thanks to the lovely staff member who went hunting for me!
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
The play suits I would expect to last for next summer too, they are fab and have been great for the weather we’ve had here. The polo shirts I expect to last the year although they seem thinner than competitors ones.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
One store clueless, the other store staff were great.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Polos are a lovely fit great for skinny tall DD, play suit is a tad wide but looks good and more importantly she loves it.
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
Fabric in the play suits thinner and less “cottony” than some John Lewis dresses a friend gave us although they are great to wash and dry quickly. They also don’t look funny if they are not ironed. Polo shirts are a great fit, thinner fabric but great value. The only thing that stuck me was comparatively how expensive the socks are, I know it was a pack if 5 pairs but it seemed strangely expensive when I could buy a play suit for £6. Definitely will buy it again, the pinafores look lovely although there was very few trouser styles for my dd in store when I looked. Also why can’t the fabric in boys and girls school trousers be the same? The girls trousers were horrible polyester type fabric I had as a kid, the boys trousers appeared more robust. I will keep an eye out over the summer and see what else I can pick up. Thanks Tesco & Mumsnet for the opportunity to test out the uniform.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

No I couldn’t. I’d normally spend £100+ on a full uniform including PE kit and shoes.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

No and no. The availability in my store was abysmal. I scraped together what I could but wasn’t happy with any of it and wouldn’t have purchased if I didn’t have the voucher. I went in looking for red summer dresses, there was a handful of blue ones and that’s it. There were no soft skirts and pinafores just the stiff pleated ones and I didn’t need polo shirts but there was a whole rack of those and shirts and trousers which dd won’t wear.
I ended up buying a skirt in the correct size and pinafore and a pack a tights in the next size up so they will do for next term. The choice and sizes were so poor I really struggled.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

The quality seems ok so I would expect to replace when she grows out of them.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No I didn’t.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

I got a skirt with an adjustable waist, I can never seem to get these to fit dd correctly without the buttons digging in and leaving marks which happened with these. If I loosened the waist then it fell down so it was a loose loose situation.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I would possibly buy some again if my store got better availability. Not 100% sure how it compares to others as dd has lived in summer dresses for the last few months and I couldn’t buy any dresses to compare.

Thanks for allowing me to be part of this product test and I hope my feedback is useful!

Q. Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

A. I normally spend £40-50 (minus shoes) on one primary school aged boy. (2 pairs of trousers, 1 pair of shorts, 5 polo tops, 2 jumpers, 1 PE kit)
So I didn't get everything I needed, but £20 would cover a good basic selection (providing sizes are available).

Q. Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

A. There was a very small selection in my local Tesco Extra. However I did manage to get a pair of grey trousers and a couple of packs of polo shirts. I actually went back at a later date and bought a pair of leather slip on loafers which were a reasonable £20 and seemed very good quality.

Q. Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

A. I'm impressed with the quality of the trousers. However the polo shirts are very poor. I understand that they are cheap to buy, but I would rather spend more and have something that will wash well and last a few months, if not the whole year. I will not recommend them or purchase them going forward.

Q. Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

A. I didn't speak to any staff, but did see a lady putting out stock. To be fair, it was nicely displayed.

Q. Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

A. Yes, I would say that the uniform did fit well. However, an extra slim fitting fair of trousers would be excellent.

Q. How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

A. Honestly, it varies. The trousers were as good as M&S, the polo tops were bad and not value for money in the long term!

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

No but I do like to but enough to last 1 week without washing also bought shoes separately

No there was no jumpers in the right colours or size and I had to get a size bigger in shorts but everything else was fine

I think the trousers and shorts will last most of the year but I but polo shirts new every term as I like them to be white and my ds tends to get very dirty at school.

  2. the range was quite limited, just one stand, but they had the bits I needed

  3. quality seems good, I think they'll last at least a whole school year.

  4. I didn't talk to any staff

  5. fits well, with lots of growing room

  6. so far quality seems as good as any other. So yes would buy again

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
No- maybe one each of the core items but not everything: it's not feasible to get multiples of summer dress, winter dress, plo shirt, cardi, socks, tights, shoes, raincoat and PE gear for £20.
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
No, sadly my local very big Tesco Extra didn't have a good range of sizes and colours
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
I think they'll last the year and be good for the next sibling
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No I'd didn't

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
Yes, fits well and looks comfy
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

Great - I'd buy it again. It's good value and decent quality. Just more stock please!

Thank you for the voucher!

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I got a dress, 2 pairs of trousers and 2 shirts which i was happy with for £20, I would typically spend about £60 including shoes and logo jumpers
  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
I found the store lacking in the sizes i needed and some of the items too, i was unable to find any jumpers or summer dresses in the size i needed. So based my selection on what was there.
  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
I feel the uniform will last until its outgrown. Its washed very well, i am very impressed with the quality of the trousers, nice to see the reinforced knees for girls.
  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
I did not speak to anyone about the range.
  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
The slim leg trousers are excellent, i always look for the adjustable waist band so i can easily take them in a little, the slim leg is great as the leg doesn't require alteration either as it cannot trail on the floor. Everything is very comfortable
  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
I think the quality is superior to other supermarkets, the only negative was the selection and availability of sizes was quite small. I love the trousers and will be buying more from here.

Question 1:Not really, especially if I wanted to buy shoes. I normally spend between £50-£70, more if I buy a coat. Question 2: I couldn't find gingham dresses in my daughter's size/ red colour. She's 7. No gingham playsuits either. I asked member of staff and none in warehouse either.

Question 3: Hopefully when she outgrows them. Have only washed them a couple of times. Question 4: Yes. Question 5: Yes Question 6: I personally prefer Asda uniforms, as they seem to have prettier items for girls and more range. Also I couldn't buy online, website didn't have choices. Never a problem with Asda. Shoes my daughter didn't find any she liked either. Again bought her mouse ones from Asda.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?
I would normally spend more than £20 on a school uniform, but I was able to buy some trousers and shirts. I would usually spend around £40 including shoes.

Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?
I went to a smaller Tesco store but they did have all the items and sizes I needed in stock.

Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?
The quality of the trousers is good and as I have used Tesco uniform before I would expect them to last around 6 months.
The shorts are good quality but often get stained with felt tip and paint , so these would need to be replaced after a couple of months.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?
I didn't speak to any of the staff in the store.

Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?
The uniform was a very good fit and the adjustable waist band was great on the trousers and was the length, The shirts were also a good fit and my son was comfortable and able to play in them.

How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?
I have bought Tesco uniform and know that it is good quality, it's as good as the other supermarket brands, I would definitely buy it again.

Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I would not be able to get everything for £20 as I buy extra to last the week. I was able to buy one set, trousers, polo shirt, jumper, but normally woukd buy 2-3 sets.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

The store did not have a huge range of sizes available.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I woukd say maybe middle of school year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

No I didn't.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

It fit well, I was able to get slim leg trousers which my son needs.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again?

I found the quality not as good as other brands but is a lot cheaper. I would buy again.

  • Could you get everything you needed for £20? How much would you normally spend on the ‘back-to-school’ shop for one child?

I got 4x polos and 2x trousers for £21. I guess I would usually spend around £60 on polos, jumpers and trousers.

  • Was there a good range available in store? Could you get the specific size items you needed?

No - very little choice in the two stores I tried. Its extremely disappointing that you can't buy tesco clothing online anymore, usually I would order the whole uniform in one go online.

  • Based on the quality of uniform pieces you’ve bought, when do you expect you’ll next have to replace these?

I would expect them to last the year.

  • Did you talk to any store staff about the back to school range and were they helpful and knowledgeable about the range?

N/a - did not speak to staff.

  • Did the uniform fit well? Was it comfortable for your child to wear and play in?

Yes fitted well, although we will have to see how the polos wash and whether they shrink over time.

  • How did the Tesco F&F uniform compare to other brands you’ve bought school uniform from in the past? Would you buy it again

The trousers were fine and I would buy again. The polos I am less impressed with - one of the packs was fine but the other seemed to have slightly discoloured collars, this was the case for lots of the different sizes available as well. Another pack I had to put back (hence trip to second store) because it had dirt streaks down it, although it was totally sealed and pressed so didn't look like it had been bought and returned. I do not think it was up to previous tesco standard.
